Chapter - 4: Escaping The Thunderstorm Pack.
(Faedra's POV)
“Quick, catch her!” I heard Alpha Liddell command as I quickly jumped to the ground floor. It was risky, but I couldn't be caught at this moment.
My breath was raspy, and I continued to gasp for air while I ran toward the exit, the warriors running after me, Alpha Liddell, and Maximus following.
I leaped forward, avoiding the warriors, standing before me, and managed to exit the mansion though they were just a few inches away.
Just as I thought that I was going to be free, someone grasped my shoulders. I shivered, my vision trembling as I turned toward behind, and saw Maximus.
“Le…t m…e go…” I managed to stutter in my shaky voice as I watched Alpha Liddell running toward me.
Maximus’ lips gaped, and he narrowed his eyes, letting go of my shoulder when he questioned, “What are you playing? Why are you running away?”
I gulped. It was as if someone pressed their hands on my neck making me unable to say anything, and someone grasped my legs tightly making my feet frozen at the same place even though my instincts were asking me to run away.
What's going on? Why can't I love my legs?
I gritted my teeth when Alpha Liddell approached me, slapping me across my right cheek, and glared at me.
“Where do you think you are going, bitch?” He clenched through his teeth.
I shivered, my face turning pale when I glanced down. My eyes widened, and I hitched for breath when the pack doctor came running to the exit, and greeted the Alpha from behind.
“Alpha Liddell!” He called out when all of them turned their attention toward the pack doctor.
My lips gaped. I knew that I had to run away. The doctor was just one step away from disclosing my pregnancy, and I can't even imagine what they're going to do when they find this out.
Perform research on my child? Keep me locked up? Any outcomes were horrible.
The pack doctor huffed, and cast an angry glare toward me, mixed with disgust. “You should've told the Alpha the truth instead of choosing to run away!”
Alpha Liddell raised his eyebrows, and he gave me a quick glance when I swallowed again.
“There is no more time. I've to run away.” I mumbled to myself, glancing down, taking a step back cautiously, not to interrupt them, and let them find out what I was about to do.
“What happened?” Alpha Liddell asked him with impatience while he rubbed the tip of his nose while stomping his feet.
I glanced beside me and found no warriors standing guard toward the Death Forest.
The Death Forest is banned for everyone, and no one also dared to enter inside since no one returned alive after going inside. Only criminals who were given death sentences were sometimes thrown into the Death Forest. That's how its name came to be the Death Forest. However, after the forest ends, the territory of the Starlight Pack ends.
I bit my lower lip, looking toward the depth of the forest, and clutched my hand into a fist. “There are two options for me. Stay, be tortured all life along with my child, and die. Or, escape, and have a chance to live.”
I took a deep breath and looked back at the pack doctor, and Alpha Liddell when the pack doctor revealed, “Miss Faedra is pregnant, Alpha Liddell. She wanted to hide it from you, and that seems to be the reason why she was running away now!”
The pack doctor rolled his eyes at me when Alpha Liddell clenched his fist, his face turning red before he let out a loud chuckle, and turned toward me, releasing his Alpha aura.
“Good job.”
I flinched at his words and closed my eyes while my body continued to tremble, and I instinctively backed away. Alpha Liddell clenched his teeth and instantly squeezed my neck tightly.
Tears rolled down my face while I struggled to break free from him before he threw me away, and I gasped for breath. My senses were full, and my head ached in pain while I coughed.
“Lock her up right now, and don't let her out from now on! I don't want to hear her running away!” He commanded, gritting his teeth while he turned away.
I looked at him while huffing for breath when the warriors gave a glance at each other before nodding.
I rubbed my eyes, and stood up, looking at the forest, and laughed.
“You can't keep me here anymore,” I mumbled, wiping the blood oozing out from my forehead.
Alpha Liddell turned his glance toward me when I returned him a smile before I ran inside the forest.
“You!” Alpha Liddell shouted, widening his eyes, and commanded his warriors, “Follow this bitch! Don't let her escape! I want her back instantly!”
A drop of tears fell from my eyes while I made my way through the bushes. My body pained being cut by thrones however, I couldn't stop. The forest was full of creatures, and his warriors were after me. I didn't dare to stop. I gritted my teeth, whimpering while I swallowed down the tears.
I want to leave this pack this instant. Why did all of this have to happen to me? In just a month when I expected things to get better because I turned eighteen and was going to meet my mate and leave for good but instead, I met my mates who hated me like no one else, rejected me cold-heartedly, and I found out the man who claimed to be my father was never my father. He was just my kidnapper who used me and lied to me all my life. All of these were so hard to digest. Why is it only me?
My tears blurred the vision in front of me, and I was tired, and my body pained all over yet, I didn't dare to stop. What if they find me?
I gasped in surprise as my feet got tangled up in the bushes, and the ground rushed up to meet me.
“Hng,” I cried out as a sharp pain shot across my face. I tried to pull my hand up toward my cheeks instinctively but I lost all of my energy. “Argh…” I whimpered, my eyes blinking, ready to lose my consciousness any second when I heard a voice.
“A… you… o…”
I had no idea what he was saying. It was all unclear.
“Hng,” I moaned, trying to utter a sound as I pushed my strength, before finally managing to utter, “Help” before losing my consciousness fully.
