Chapter - 3: The Dark Truth.

(Faedra's POV)

“Miss Faedra?” The doctor called me again when my eyes shot up at him while I trembled in fear, and shock surged inside me.

“No, it's impossible,” I muttered, placing my fingers on my forehead when the doctor frowned.

“The test results are already out. It has been confirmed two times before I confirmed that you're pregnant. It's absolutely true.” The doctor claimed, casting me a disdainful glance while he extended the reports on my hands.

My hand trembled while I snatched the papers from him, and saw the positive signs on them when I crumbled the reports unconsciously.

This can't be true. My life will be fucked up if my father or anyone finds out about it.

I began to think about a million ways how things were going to end up for me if my father were to find this out. Especially if he finds out that it was theirs, my cousins’ child. My father's enemies, someone he wishes to kill at every chance he gets.

My lips gaped, and tears streamed down uncontrollably. What kind of mistake did I make because I was intoxicated by our mate bond? Should I just abort…? No… I don't like that. I don't have anyone to begin with, and I don't want to lose my baby now, the only thing that may be my hope in the future.

“Miss. Faedra, are you going to report this to Alpha Liddell or not?”

I shivered, hearing my doctor’s words, and immediately, I clung to his white gown’s edge. “P-please, don't report it to him—” I begged, a drop of my tear tingled down my cheeks.

“Please let go of me.” The doctor said, looking down while he swayed himself away from me.

I flinched, feeling his cold gaze, and shivered. “P-please…”

He frowned, lines forming on his forehead when he massaged his forehead with two fingers before replying. “I'm obliged to tell the Alpha about every matter of yours. So, Miss. Faedra, it'd be best if you tell him yourself, or else, you'll face the Alpha's wrath.”

My hands trembled when I backed away, shaking my head furiously. “I-I can't!” I murmured when my head continued to ache, and nervousness lingered inside my heart. My breath hitched while I struggled to get out of bed when the doctor stopped and glared at me furiously.

“STOP THAT. OTHERWISE, I'LL CALL FOR THE ALPHA BY MYSELF.”

I flinched, glancing at him when I gulped, pulling myself away from him. “I-I’ll g-go… I-I'll tell him myself…” I stuttered, slowly walking toward the door while crumbling the reports.

As I walked all the way from the hallway to my father's office, my heartbeat slowed down, almost like a whale’s. It felt as if I was going to be killed the moment I mentioned it to him. My father never liked disobedience or anything that would ruin his reputation. He can go far as to instigate wars just to protect his reputation. What would I be like if my father were to find out about it?

My breath hitched as I swallowed my tears while I supported myself with the wall, and dragged myself toward my father's office.

I stood there for seconds, looking at the cold door to my father's office, and was about to knock on the wooden surface when I heard my father's voice. My hand stopped while a heavy air hung around my heart. I had no idea but I felt like I had to listen to this, and so, I eavesdropped on them.

“So, should I let Faedra mate with Maximus?”

I flinched when I heard his words. Mate with him? But, he is my brother! My lips trembled, and my eyes bulged out in shock.

“Yes, Liddell.” An unfamiliar voice said, stretching the word yes.

I bit my lips and decided to peek through the keyhole when I watched my father standing alone, and looking to his right when he frowned.

“But, they're known to be siblings.”

“FOOLISH!” That voice scorned my father and I instinctively flinched. “Don't forget that Faedra is just adopted, and if you let them mate, imagine the powerful heir your son will have in the future. You can even rule the entire region, and your dream of crushing your brother, and those nephews of yours will also come true.”

Their words were like cold water splashed on me. I had no idea what they were talking about but all I knew was that it was utterly wrong. H-how can I mate him? And, h-how can I be adopted? I was never his daughter at all! That's why, he had always treated me coldly, no matter how hard I tried to please him!

That voice continued while my father's eyes gleamed with excitement. “I just need the daughter among them. We've researched on Faedra for so long but we haven't found anything useful yet.”

Researched? What were they talking about? Did they perform research on me? But, what research are they talking about? A-and, why does he want my daughter? Just, what was happening?

Numerous questions passed through my mind, and I didn't understand what was going on. But, all I knew was that it was wrong.

“B-but,” My father, no, Alpha Liddell flinched, and glanced at the man anxiously. “To the outside world, she is my daughter. How can they accept her as the Luna of my son?”

A laughter erupted from inside, and that voice turned cold and serious, seconds later. “Are you backing out, Liddell? Don't forget that you've kidnapped her, tortured her, and researched her. It was all you, not me. If you're found out, you'll be killed, and your reputation will also be ruined.” He paused for some seconds before continuing, “But if you follow my command, you'll get whatever you want. And, I just need their daughter.”

I flinched, hearing them while my heart thumped faster. “I need to run away,” I mumbled, my breath hitching while I shuddered.

Alpha Liddell asked, “Do you have any plans then?”

“Didn't you kill your friend once? The Alpha of…”

“Red Moon Pack.” He completed his sentence.

“Hm.” That voice paused, and let out a snicker. “Just, introduce her as your friend’s daughter, and you've been raising her as your daughter since he died, and you've planned for them to get mated.”

His eyes brightened, and he instinctively nodded while I was still processing what they had just said.

I had no idea what to believe in. It turned out that I was never his daughter, but just someone he kidnapped to research me. But, what's this research? And, why does he want me to mate with him? J-just why? Why? After all, who am I?

“I'll do as you said.” Alpha Liddell said when I backed away unconsciously.

It was all true. It was hard for me to believe in, but all of this was true. I was kidnapped, made to believe he was my father, researched on, and tortured. But, now they were planning to make use of me again, by making me mate with someone I don't even know after sharing the same roof for years! I'm never going to let this happen… Never.

I bit my lips when I thought about my child, and I clutched into the report tighter. What would they do if they found out that I was actually pregnant? Pregnant with their child, and possibly with a daughter? What would they do… to me, and my child?

My hands shook in fear while I stumbled trying to stand steadily. “Yes… I-I have to escape…” I mumbled, my eyes enlarged in shock, and fear.

This information was too much for me to digest in a few minutes. All my life I had been lied to, used, and broken. How could I take all of this so easily?

I gulped, taking a deep breath when I turned in the opposite direction and faced Maximus.

My body shuddered when he frowned, and asked loudly, “What are you doing here? Why is your face pale like a ghost, and you're sweating so much?”

I flinched when my head immediately turned toward the other direction when the door creaked open, and Alpha Liddell came out, glaring at me.

I wanted to scream, wanted to run away but all I could do was shiver and crumble the reports. No words came out of my mouth, and my heart continued to thump while Alpha Liddell made his way toward me.

“I… I…” I let out a low voice, my voice shaky when I turned toward Maximus and ran over.

Maximus was shocked and was about to stop me but I swayed him away and ran with all the strength I had.

I have to escape.
