CHAPTER 14 :

I'm outside the dining hall in a few seconds, when a servant steps infront of me.

"My Highness, may I speak my mind?" His gaze is pleading.

"By all means. Go ahead." I coax him to spit it all out.

"Don't let go of my master. He's a good man. He may seem distant and cold, but...he wasn't that way. If someone can bring in light in his life, it's you, my king." He says, as he bows infront of me.

"I'll try, I promise." I utter a fake promise. What his master wants, is none of my fucking business.

He turns and leaves. Uh..what an evening! Staying under the same roof as an overbearing vampire master, how ridiculous.

I walk back to my room, as I take some fresh clothes out of the closet. How do all the clothes even fit me? He must've taken my size when I was lying unconscious in that filthy cell. I sigh, as I pull off my robe, and change into a pitch black one. Money doesn't buy happiness, you see? He has tons of those, yet he lacks a heart.

I climb on my bed, as I shift over to another side and switch off the lamp. All of a sudden, I wake up with a jolt because I think, I felt someone else's presence in this room. The door is locked, only the windows are open. I think, I kind of saw Dravon's shadow in the room, but there is no way he could've gotten in. Jesus, I'm seeing things now, and maybe, Daemon Grey has finally gone mad.

Maybe, I could call Alex over, and snoop in the town for clues. And Dravon isn't here at the moment, he must be in his room, so, I should grab the chance. Plus, I'll be benefitted with some private time with Alex, and he's quite the charming gentleman. I turn on the lamp as I get out of my bed.

I take out the phone out of my pocket, as I dial the number from the scribbled paper he's left me, this morning. He picks up in 2 rings.

"Who's this?" He voice seems really sleepy, I shouldn't have woken him up at 2 in the dead of night.

"It's Daemon. Daemon Grey." I clarify, hoping he'd recognise me.

"Daemon! Are you in trouble or something?" His voice goes from sledpy to concerned.

"No, no. I'm fine. I shouldn't disturb you really..." I kind of feel guilty for waking him up at this hour.

"Hey, no. Tell me, what's up?" He speaks.

"Maybe, we could just go around town. And, search if there have been anymore attacks." I sense silence at the other end of the line.

"Sure. I'll be there in 10 minutes." His voice is smooth, insistent.

"Okay. See you, then." I hang up, but then the sound of a glass breaking, startles me.

There is surely someone in the room. I'm sure of it. I feel scared, after that vampire attack today, who knows? It might be a crazy lunatic on the loose?

"Who is it?" I shout, not letting my voice falter by a single decibel.

Silence. Uh, maybe, I'm just being paranoid. If there was anyone in the room intending to hurt me, they would've done it by now.

I slip off my robe, but, I can't shake that odd feeling off, about someone being inside the room. And after I've slipped the robe off, I feel exposed, as if, someone's watching me. I shake my head, as I walk towards the closet, and take out a black silk shirt, and grey pants. That would do. I quickly put on my clothes, before that nakedness phobia overcomes me. I slick my hair back, and with one final look in the mirror, I'm all set, when my phone rings.

Oh, it's Alex. "I'm here." He declares. Oh, I'm glad, really.

"I'm going down by the window. Be closeby." I make sure that he'd be standing somewhere down the window.

"Are you sure that you wanna investigate at this hour?" He replies.

"Yes. I have to break Dravon's curse. Because once I do, I'll leave this stupid town." I'm quite desperate about this.

"Okay. Be careful, I'm under your window. Climb down, slowly." He gives me some instructions.

I pull off the satin sheets of my bed, as I tie them together, and finally secure them with a knot to the bed post. After I make sure that the knot won't let go of me, I throw the combined sheets outside my window. I peek, to see that the sheets have reached the ground, with Alex signalling me to climb down. Okay, Grey, let's do this! Show time!

I gently get my leg out of the window, as I do the same with the other leg. I get hold of the sheets, as I slowly climb down. When I'm half-way down, the satin sheet slides beneath my shoe, making me slip. Holy fuck, I'm falling from a three storey castle! I'm so dead!
