Chapter 3 You Are Still My Husband

"Chelsea?"

Chris felt like he was frozen in place, his formerly lifeless eyes suddenly showing a hint of confusion, his hand twitching.

Chelsea, wearing high heels, walked gracefully towards them.

She was just like she had been two years ago when Arianna saw her in France, graceful and charming.

Arianna couldn't accept this. There were only ten days left until their agreement; why did she have to appear now?

Chelsea stopped two meters away, fixed her gaze on Chris, and sighed. "I came back just to see if you're happy. Now that I've seen it... Goodbye."

"Don't go!" Chris panicked.

Suddenly, Arianna had a feeling that everything would be over if he let go of her.

However, Chris still pushed her away, impatiently breaking free and rushing toward Chelsea. He embraced her tightly.

Then, Arianna clearly saw Chelsea wrap her slender arms around Chris' waist through his broad shoulders. She smiled provocatively, her eyes fixed on Arianna.

Arianna's teeth chattered, even though it was early summer. She felt a chill deep within her.

Her eyes reddened, and she reached out, desperately trying to pull him back.

"Chris, you are still my husband. How can you leave me to embrace another woman? Let go of him, Chelsea!"

Hearing the cries of the woman on the ground and the commotion, Chris couldn't help but feel embarrassed. He waved his hand to dismiss her.

"Are you done?"

Arianna sat down on the ground, suddenly stiffening. A sudden, unexpected pain in her mind made her gasp.

Since going blind, Chris' hearing had become very keen. When he heard Arianna's painful groans, he subconsciously asked, "What's wrong with you?!"

Chelsea timidly said, "Mrs. Grimes seems to be in pain, but she didn't hit her head..."

"Arianna, stop pretending; it's pointless." Chris furrowed his brows, feeling that his previous concerns were absurd.

He had almost fallen for it.

The pain made Arianna increasingly irritable. Seeing Chelsea still clinging to Chris, she shouted hoarsely, "Let her go! You let her go!"

Staring into Arianna's bloodshot eyes, Chelsea shrank back.

"Chris, I'm leaving..."

Chris didn't stop her. He soon heard the sound of the car starting and driving away.

But Arianna, like a madwoman, kept muttering "Let her go," which made him unable to contain his anger and he couldn't help but slap her across the face.

"Have you gone mad?"

Arianna's body fell limp, and she was about to speak when Chris immediately interrupted with words.

"Let's get a divorce."

She was somewhat dazed, and after a long while, she finally responded, muttering, "There are still ten days..."

"What's the difference between divorcing now and divorcing in ten days? Do you think something will change?" Chris' face retained its usual cold impatience.

"Have you forgotten what I told you? If it's not a complete month, I will never..."

"Then go ahead and die!" Chris interrupted her and his cold, sharp words pierced Arianna's heart, causing it to bleed.

Since the beginning of this marriage, or rather, since Chris' car accident and blindness, her heart had been patched up, barely held together, and could no longer see her intact flesh.

Now, it couldn't be patched up any longer. The broken hole was bleeding and slowly drying up and shriveling.

"As you wish," Arianna's voice quivered, and a hint of choking could be heard. "I'm ill, seriously ill, and I don't have much time left."
