I am your wife
Ava's pov.
I heard the priest loud and clear when he said the groom can kiss the bride, Ivan had better do it right.
‘God, I have dreamed about this day all my life.’ I thought as I closed my eyes and pouted my lips in preparation. ‘Why is he taking forever to place those lips on mine?’
I was still waiting when I heard my voice, screaming my name out loud. “Ava!!!!”
‘Shit! I had forgotten all about the switch.’ my thoughts spiralled as soon as I recalled it.
“Uhm, I'm Ivan.” I said after opening my eyes. “Did you forget that my wife?”
Yes! This was the only way forward, place the blame on someone else. Right now, on earth, there was no one more deserving than my husband.
He smirked with my face, before responding. “I was just trying to bring you back to earth, you were in the clouds already.”
“What do you mean by that?” I feigned ignorance. “I was just trying to be a gentleman.”
“By pouting? Cut the crap story already.”
“Excuse me, I think we should—” The priest started, but I cut him off by shushing him with my index finger.
“I did not pout, you are really crossing the line now.”
“You know how much I love dealing with facts, maybe we should check the footage to verify that.” Ivan in my body, said comfortably.
“That's giving premium disrespect, because why wouldn't you just believe your wife?” I raised my voice and told him, before rolling my eyes.
“I'm wondering why too.” Ivan said calmly with a smile on my face.
“Wait, what?” I got confused for a second.
“Why wouldn't you just listen to your wife” Ivan repeated again, having the look I always had whenever I win an argument. “I am your wife.”
This piece of dung! Did he really have to stoop so low? It was upsetting that he was in full grasp of the whole swap situation and I wasn't.
“Can we continue now?” The priest asked making the situation a bit awkward.
“Shut up!” We both screamed at him, then turned back to glare at each other.
“Okay, I've had it up to my neck with this bullshit. Kiss your wife, so we can go out for the reception.” Ivan's mother, who had walked up to us said in an angry voice.
“Yes mom.” I said and stepped closer to the bride.
The tension between us was enough to power a small village, but I decided to be the bigger person and give in. As I moved close to Ivan, I whispered to him. “Let's get this over with, I'm stressed already.”
Ivan had a disturbing smile on my face, that made me feel weird. “Just kiss me.”
The plan was to kiss him lightly on the lips and pull away, since that was more than enough show for everyone. But as soon as our lips touched, I felt butterflies in my stomach and the girl in me came out.
It wasn't helpful that my bride, Ivan, was a very good kisser. I only came back to my senses when the applause from the guests got to my ears. With a satisfied look I pulled away, but my bride drew me in for one last fiery kiss.
‘At least, he's a good kisser. I can forgive him for the drama earlier on.’ I thought as I closed my eyes and got lost in the pleasure of his lips. ‘I meant my lips, hehe.’
The kiss was short lived because I felt a sharp pain on my lower lip and cursed out in pain. “The fuck!!!!”
Ivan had another funny look on my face as he pulled away, feeling triumphant.
“That's enough you two, it's time to walk together out to the reception area.” Ivan's mom instructed again, because the priest had not still recovered from the mini shouting lesson we gave him.
I took a deep breath in and held out my hands which Ivan took like a delicate bride, as we began the walk down. The guests stood up and applauded, but there was something certain.
This wedding was the craziest they had ever attended.
“You had some nerve acting like a mad dog.” I told Ivan through my clenched teeth.
“Careful how you talk to your wife now.” He whispered back in my voice.
“You freaking bit my lip, talk about being an uncout human.”
“I just needed to make you realize that this is our reality, because you seem to have forgotten that when you melted into my kisses.” Ivan said in a whisper.
“An eighteen years old kisses better than you, don't get ahead of yourself.”
There was no way I was ever going to tell him I enjoyed every bit of that kiss.
We got into the car, after waving at the guests and headed for the wedding venue. He pulled the blind that separated the driver from us in the limousine and took a deep breath in.
“My head hurts like crazy, who advised you to use a wig when your hair was beautiful enough?”
I turned to him with a straight face. “I'm glad you know that there's something beautiful about me, why did you not tell the stylist what you wanted?”
“I wish I had gotten the opportunity to do so, but you know I hate talking too much.”
I tilted my head to the side. “But you have been talking so much through out today, it's good to know nothing's wrong with your mouth. You just don't know when to use it and that's on you.”
“You can't be reasonable for once.” He turned my face to the side and stayed silent until we got to the venue.
Some guests who could not come to the wedding ceremony, were at the reception area already. It was already looking filled up and I was getting bored, as I sat in the space they had kept for the couple.
My eyes left my bride, Ivan, who had been strangely quiet since the car ride and went through the guests there.
“You really should stop sulking with my face, it makes me look—”
I never got to compete that's sentence, because my heart skipped threw beats at the person sitting calmly in a corner.
He was here!
