Chaos for Kiss
Ivan's pov.
‘Great lord! What the hell is wrong with her?’ I thought as I heard her response to what the priest had asked.
I turned to my side and looked at the guests we had invited, their faces were just like I had imagined.
My mom looked like she was going to hit the ground and faint, Ava's family were in pure shock, everyone looked confused apart from Olivia who had a smirk on her face.
The priest got a hold of himself and recovered from the shock first. “Ivan?”
“Yes.” I replied out of habit and forgot I was in Ava's body.
He threw me a confused look. “I was talking to the groom, Miss.”
I smiled awkwardly. “Oh, my bad. I got carried away.”
Ava had still not realized she made a mistake and was busy admiring the bridal train's outfit, I could see it clearly in her eyes.
I lifted my gown and moved it enough to cover the groom's leg, then stepped on her.
“Ouch! That hurt like crazy.” Ava in my body screamed. “Why did you have to do that?”
Everyone present was staring at us like a K-drama, they could not figure but we're still glued to.
“Please go on.” I told the priest. “He was out of it for a moment.”
Ava rolled my eyes at me as I said that, before moving close to the mic again. “I sincerely apologize for scaring you all, the thing is I spaced out for a while and thought I was asked if I liked marshmallows.”
A few guests laughed at the joke, but the awkward tension was still in the air. Olivia did not look too pleased with what Ava said, but fuck her. I knew there was no reason for her to be here other than for trouble.
“Sir, can you please go on?” I signalled to the priest again.
He coughed lightly and continued. “Looks like we got an extraordinary couple here today.”
Turning to Ava again, he repeated the words he had said earlier. “Do you Ivan Cross take Ava Sinclair, to be your wedded wife, to love and to hold, till death do you part?”
“I do.” Ava answered in my voice and I could hear a faint sigh of relief, spread through the guests.
The priest turned to me and asked the same question again.
“Yes, I do.” I replied with a smile, trying to get this over with so Ava could handle the merger briefing.
Something told me, she must have forgotten or cancelled it. I was not about to lose out on that after all the work I put in, not even for my wife or husband. God! This was so frustrating.
“Is there anyone present here today, who has any reason for these two not to be joined in holy matrimony?” The priest threw the question to the guests.
‘Fuck! I thought I told Gerald to go over this part with the priest. Oh, I was going to do that this morning, but this whole body situationship had happened.’ I thought, as a headache started getting to me.
Ava had long hair, but they fucking still had her put a wig on. At this rate, I was going to get a migraine before the reception.
“Do you really have to do this?” I asked the priest in a low voice, as I moved close to him.
“It's normal protocol Ava, no one is going to oppose this. There's no need to worry.” He reassured me.
I knew I was screwed with Olivia sitted there among my honorable guests, but I could do nothing but resign to fate now. “Okay.”
A chair creaked, as I tried moving back to my normal position discreetly at the same time. Without looking up, I knew my worst fear was coming to life.
“Some woman stood up, maybe she knows the groom or something.” The guests began murmuring, but I heard them just fine.
The only joy in my heart at this point, was that I did not invite the press for this wedding. I would have turned to a nationwide laughing stock.
“Why is this day getting crazier?” I muttered out loud enough for the priest to give me a confused look.
In the midst of the confusion, I threw a quick glance at Ava but she was oblivious about everything and playing with her cufflinks. “Can you focus?”
“What did I do now, Mr. Right?” She mouthed to me.
I nodded twice and tilted my head in the direction I had seen Olivia seating last, she followed my movements and saw what the crowd was murmuring about.
“Do you have anything to say, Miss?” The priest asked her, looking surprised at the development.
The clueless usher rushed towards her and handed her a mic, but luckily she did not say much. “The thing is.”
I sighed in frustration and moved close enough to whisper in Ava's ears. “That's Olivia, you need to do something about it.”
“Oh, hi Olivia.” Ava said out loud to everyone's hearing.
“Do you know her?” The priest asked.
“Yes, I do.”
This led to an even increased murmuring from the guest, I'm certain this was the first wedding drama they had witnessed in years.
I rubbed my temple the same way I did, whenever something was stressful but this time, I ended up with two shades of foundation and blush on my hands. “What did I get myself into?”
“Do something about this, my dear groom.” I told Ava, expecting him to signal security to do something about it.
But instead, my wonderful female husband rolled her eyes at me and walked off the altar where we stood, muttering. “For Christ's sake!”
She walked up to where Olivia stood and spoke to her for less than a minute, before coming back up after Olivia left. “I think this is the first time I have had to apologize twice in one event. I'm sorry about the little misunderstanding, she just had to use the restroom and was a bit too shy to say that.”
The priest and everyone else did not believe it, but they had no other option at this point but to continue with the wedding.
I looked at Ava in surprise, but deep down I was itching to know what she had told that woman. She wasn't one to bow to pressure that easily.
“With no opposition in sight and the power upon me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” The guests erupted in applause of the pronunciation that took a lifetime to get to. “You may kiss your bride.”
I closed my eyes and waited for Ava to kiss me, this was finally coming to an end so I could not help the smile on my face.
One second, two seconds, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, why wasn't she kissing me yet?
I opened one of my eyes and noticed the guests all had their mouths hanging open, the second I turned towards Ava I understand why.
There she was, a groom in my face and all my glory, having her eyes closed and lips pouting.
I could not hold it in anymore. “Ava!!!!!!!”
