CHAPTER 3 :

As we move in through the deserted roads of DeadWood, I don't fail to spot that the town is eeriely calm. And quiet. What really happens in this town when night falls? This town does have some secrets or so it seems. I need to know everything.

"So, why are the streets so lonely at night? Pretty sure that other states in the US, don't get that deserted at just 10." I speak to him.

Jamie and Mark are quiet. And, I don't know why.

"There have been a lot of....animal attacks in a few days. So..." He trails off.

"Oh." I sigh. No one is really opening up about this. Fine.

After a drive of about half an hour, we're here. We three hop out of our car, as the driver goes inside the mansion carrying our luggage.

The mansion is breathtaking. Pastel grey walls complementing the dark brown windows, accompanied with a huge porch — It's just wow. I quickly stride inside the house, with Jamie and Mark following me. I knock on the door, as Tristan opens it.

"My god, finally, Grey, you're here!" He smiles at me, as we start our hug session. Jamie goes in for the hug after me, and Mark follows.

The house surely is a marvel. State of the art, architecture — Dark hardwood furnished floor with mahogany furniture, provided with a fake celieng fixed with dim violet neon lights. The corridors are big, and I don't know where they end.

The dinning hall is situated on the ground floor and we opt for a candle light dinner. We four had steaks with schezwan sauce, a vanilla custard for dessert, and lastly a glass of Rhenish wine for each of us.

Mark and Jamie retire to their rooms just after dinner, whereas I decide to catch up with Tristan. We both enter the smoker room, which is a small, intimate room and surprisingly cozy. Tristan offers me a Marlboro Red, as I lit the cigarette with my lighter, and exhaled out a perfect grey ring of smoke.

"It's quite the house you've made, Tristan." I say, taking a sip of brandy.

"Yeah. It is. You're a big shot now, huh? An actor." He smiles at me, which doesn't quite reach his eyes.

"Yep..Pretty much. But, you see, I'm not the one with a lavish mansion here." I chuckle.

"You've not lost that sense of humour, have you, Grey?" He shakes his head, chuckling.

"No, I haven't. And, what is about all those animal attacks going on in the town, which people refuse to speak about?" I ask, changing the topic.

Tristan pales at my question, as he at once glances at his clock.

"We'll talk about that tomorrow. How about you go to sleep now? It's 12:30 am already." He speaks, but I do hear the wavering attitude in his voice.

Probably, the town is in too much trauma, for anyone to speak about it. I nod at him as I stand up, and he leads us to the stairs.

"So, still attracted to boys?" He suddenly asks.

"I've always been bisexual, Tristan. Why would that ever change?" My voice is clipped. I don't like people asking about my sexuality. It often becomes a subject of mockery.

We get up on the first floor, as he shows me my room.

"Mark and Jamie are in the consecutive rooms. Call me if you need something." He says, as he leaves me alone in the hallway without any other word.
