Chapter 4

I bit my lower lip to hold back my strong emotions.

"Sis will find a way, Kio, okay? Can you wait for me?"

"Okay, are you sure I can be with you? Don’t separate me from you again! I’ll really get angry!" she said, which made me feel a heavy mix of laughter and concern.

"Yes, I promise..."

We talked for a moment before I hung up. I called a friend to ask if there were any other jobs I could take on, and she mentioned she was also looking for someone, which made my shoulders slump even more.

I turned off my phone and decided to buy something to eat outside. It was just enough to stave off my hunger because I was hesitant to spend the little money I had left.

I just need a stable job that can cover the apartment Kio and I will get, and that would be enough. I'll handle the rest. Just one job. Just one...

A little while later,

When I returned to the training ground.

My brows furrowed at the chaos unfolding.

It looked like someone was being restrained.

They brought out Thaeddus’s sparring partner from the ring, and my eyes widened when I saw he was badly beaten. The guy looked like he’d been assaulted by several people.

What the—what happened?!

I looked back at the ring and saw Thaeddus with a furious expression, being held back by those around him, including Mr. Harry.

"What’s happening to you?! You're going too far, Thaeddus!"

"That's normal! He wanted to spar, right?!" Thaeddus defended himself angrily.

"He's your teammate! It’s just training, Thaeddus! Look at his face, he needs to be taken to the hospital!"

"It's not my fault! He's getting on my nerves!" he shouted, pulling his hand away from those trying to restrain him.

Our eyes met, and a wave of anxiety washed over me.

"Oh? The therapist is already here," he said sarcastically. "Too bad, my match is over. You won’t see anything now."

I don’t know what to feel right now.

He looks terrifying.

He seems insane.

He looks dangerous.

Really... really dangerous.

I can feel the double fear that I’m experiencing.

I don’t know how I could possibly treat him when his presence is so terrifying, and it seems like everyone gets caught up in his anger.

Is he really this aggressive?

I flinch as his heavy feet leave the ring and head in my direction.

I step back a little and grip the hem of my uniform tightly out of nervousness. I feel like my life is over if he reaches me.

“Stop him!”

“Thaeddus, what’s wrong?!”

“Hey, Levesque, stop messing around!”

I felt immense relief when the people there managed to stop him.

There’s only a small distance between us, but my heart races at the sight of his truly annoyed face. It feels like I must have done something terrible to him for me to be dragged into this.

“What’s going on?! We’re really struggling with your behavior! Don’t drag Ms. Beaumont into this!” Sir Harry stepped in between us. “Stop being so aggressive towards anything and anyone!”

I remained folded in on myself.

The staring contest between me and Thaeddus didn’t break even with Sir Harry right in front of us.

He looks dangerous and almost brutal. His eyes give off an aura of darkness. I don’t know how I’m managing to hold his gaze right now. It feels like I’ve turned to stone out of fear.

He seems ready to say something but can’t get it out. I want to hear his problem with me so he can suddenly attack me, but he just can’t bring himself to do it.

And at that moment, I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore. I cried out of sheer fear of him right now.

I saw a flicker of surprise change in his expression as he looked at me. For a few seconds, he watched my quiet tears before he looked away from me and angrily pulled back from those trying to restrain him.

He turned around and walked into the room where he had changed.

Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief.

“I’m so sorry, Ms. Beaumont. Are you alright?” Sir Harry said as he faced me.

I collected myself and wiped my tears away. The nervousness was still there, but I had no other reason to cry about him now. His presence and entire being were just truly frightening.

I didn’t know there could be someone so intense—such severe anger issues and aggression. What if he had reached me? I would have really cried if he had hurt me. With a guy like him? Who wouldn’t be scared?

“I’m sorry. I just got here. What happened?” I said after wiping my face. Everyone still looked at me with concern.

“I’m really sorry. Thaeddus gets angry so quickly. His patience is so short, and even we struggle to handle him…” Sir Harry showed signs of embarrassment.

“It’s okay. I was just really scared because he was coming toward me…” I forced a laugh awkwardly.

“I honestly don’t know about that. He wasn’t like this before. You weren’t doing anything, but it seemed like he wanted to drag you into it too. Oh! I’ll talk to him for a moment!” He said shyly before leaving to follow Thaeddus into the room.

A man approached me—a trainer, I think.

“Are you really okay, Ma’am? Thaeddus is really scary. We don’t know why he seemed so upset…” he said.

“What happened?” I asked.

“We’re not sure either. If I'm not mistaken, he seemed fine after you checked on him because we were able to talk normally when the match started,” said someone I didn’t know. “But once you left, I don’t know what happened—he suddenly became aggressive and picked on Mark.”

I breathed a sigh of relief.

So it turns out I wasn’t at fault here after all.

“Maybe they were teasing each other during the match?” I suggested shyly.

One person shook their head. “There's no way Mark would tease him; he knows Thaeddus well. He really has a short fuse…”

I didn’t say anything more.

A few more explanations happened, and the issue was finally resolved. They went back to their respective tasks, and I returned to my seat as well.

I didn’t do anything wrong, and based on what they said, I really wouldn’t be implicated because I wasn’t doing anything bad.

He’s scary.

He’s like a monster.

Why is he like that? From the look on his partner's face earlier, he could be sued. Is that even normal? He looks like he needs a doctor for his brain.

I sat for a few minutes before Mr. Harry came out of the room.

I stood up when he approached me.

“Thaeddus is okay. It seems he just misinterpreted Mark’s words earlier, which is why he got angry.” He smiled softly. “Sorry about earlier, okay? I also asked about you because he almost dragged you into it; he said he was just caught up in his anger towards Mark.”
