CHAPTER 2 - REJECTION

Rowan's POV

I raised my eyebrows as Celine's question came to me as a surprise.

I wasn't expecting that from her. I understood that she was hurt but she shouldn't embarrass me in front of my pack. Moreover, she's a wolfless orphan who doesn't even have the capacity to lead my pack with me. “I think this is the right time to end this”,I thought to myself.

“I, Rowan Ashford,the Alpha of Ashclaw pack,reject you Celine Everly as my mate and Luna”, I said with an emotionless voice as the whole crowd gasped. I watched Celine who was staring at me in shock and I felt sorry for a moment. I felt a sharp pain pierce through my heart as the rejection took effect on our mate bond, making me clench my teeth in pain and rubbing my hands on my chest to ease the pain.

Celine's POV

I stared at Rowan in disbelief as tears streamed down my eyes trying to understand what he just said.

“Did he just reject me?” I felt a sharp pain surging through my heart as the rejection started taking effect on our mate bond.

“He really did”.

I took a mental note of the gasps,gossip and noise that spread out in the crowd.

“You can't do this to me, Rowann. Not after everything we've been through togetherrr”, I cried as tears streamed down my eyes, almost blinding me.

“I don't have an option, Celine", he replied with an icy voice.

“What do you mean by that, Rowan?? How could you do this to your matee??” I almost choked on my tears.

“You are a wolfless girl, Celine, an orphan; you and I know the rules of our pack. I can't lead this large pack with someone who doesn't possess the strength and power of a wolf. I can't even mate a weak she wolf talk more of a wolfless,the moon goddess surely made a mistake by pairing us as mates”,Rowan explained.

The crowd gasped in surprise again. Why would their Alpha doubt the intention of the moon goddess.This is too much drama for a day. First was the make out session between their Alpha and my used-to-be best friend. Then,the rejection and now, finding out that I was wolfless.

“Ohh right, the moon goddess has decided to punish me after I thought she blessed me”, I said to myself.

“If you didn't want me,why didn't you just reject me on our first encounter? Why did you lead me on?”, I asked with tears dripping down my chin soaking the upper part of my dress.

“Cause I didn't know you were wolfless then and when you told me about it,I didn't know what to do with it”, Rowan replied.

“I trusted you with that secret, Rowan, how could you just spill it to everyone like this???”, I cried as my body trembled with so many emotions; Anger, pain, betrayal, humiliation, broken trust, name them. My eyes were heavy with tears,my fingers were twitching with anger,my throat was dry and hurting me; it was too much for me to bear.

“What was I supposed to do, Celine?? Moreover, rejecting you now is the best option for the both of us cause it's bound to happen sooner or later”, Rowan replied nonchalantly regardless of my feelings.

What was he expecting from me??? To kneel, probably lick his ass and beg him not to reject mee? Nah, that's not gonna happen.

I wasn't some random cheap she wolf who can do anything to keep a man by my side cause I got my dignity. It's rejection he wants right? Then so be it. I lifted my chin with pride wiping the tears dripping down my eyes as I can't accept defeat from Rowan.

“I, Celine Everly, accept your rejection”, I said looking straight into Rowan's eyes. Pain on the bond grew worse as my acceptance took effect and stopped after a while.

Rowan's eyebrows shot up as his lips parted slightly with his forehead stretching in disbelief.

He wasn't expecting Celine to accept his rejection so easily because she's always been head over heels for him.

“Celine, I'm not joking about this, this is serious. Stop taking it as a fling”, Rowan said with amusement.

“And who said that I'm joking here? I accept your rejection and as a matter of fact, we are done. I can't be mated to someone who screws my best friend behind my back”, I sneered.

The crowd gasped and murmured at my audacity and I knew this annoyed Rowan cause his face was turning red from anger.

“You can't talk to your Alpha like that, Celine. If there is anyone to blame, it's me”, Ivy replied with a low voice, coming close to me while acting all pitiful to gain the crowd's sympathy.

“Ewww”, I looked at her with disgust. How condensing and manipulative could she be? She was annoying the shit out of me.

“Alpha Rowan didn't do anything, I'm the one at fault cause I came unto him. You can do anything to me but please don't involve him in this. You are free to vent on me”, Ivy said while holding my right hand continuing her pitiful act.

She wants to take all of Rowan's blame right?? She will get it in a package.

I pried my hand free from her grip and landed a hard hot slap on her cheeks. Ivy fell on the floor and sobbed while rubbing the cheeks that had turned red with my finger prints. She raised her head in surprise to look at me,she wasn't expecting that from me at all.

“Why would you do that?”, Rowan asked with a voice filled with anger while rushing to Ivy's side to help her up.

“Welllll, she wanted to take your blame. Soooo,that's just the tip of an iceberg”, I answered him mockingly.

Rowan's face turned completely red with anger and I would have enjoyed it if he exploded like a bomb.

With my anger rising every second,I really wanted to leave here. I couldn't go back home this way cause I was sure to drown in my own tears.

I turned around in the midst of the chattering crowd to leave. I left the room and the entire building with no clue.

“Where should I go??”
