Chapter 005

Leo

Great

When my mother told me that she was seeing someone new I was so happy for her, I haven't had a father figure in my life since what ..forever. I've never met my dad and mum never talks about him, growing up she worked tirelessly to make sure I never lacked.

So, yeah she deserved happiness.

Ever since she met Alpha Matthews, she talked about him all the time, sometimes I caught her daydreaming about him, I was glad he was treating her well, and yes the day came when we met.

He looked so majestic and carried with him an atmosphere that demanded respect, he looked like a Greek god, someone who I was sure my mother will be safe with.

He came around sometimes at home to pick my mum up for dates, and he was so nice to me, I could scent the affection pull he felt towards my mother. The moon goddess really had a way to connect people together I must admit.

He talked about his son, and for a minute, just a damn minute I was so eager to meet this new stepbrother, but I knew what it's like to be two alpha males living under the same roof.

I wasn't really sure if we would get along or we would be fighting for every god damn thing.

The day we were moving out of our small apartment to move in with our new family, Alpha Matthews and the Crescent moon pack, I helped out with everything and my mother was exuberating a nervousness scent.

“Sweetie if you don't want this, I can always cancel,” she told me that morning.

“No it's fine mum, don't worry, I'm totally okay with it,” I told her with a calm voice but still she wasn't really having it.

“ I mean, all these years, it has always been the two of us and now, the moon goddess gave you a chance in love, you should take it, I can't deny you happiness for my own selfish gain,” I said flatly.

She smiled warmly at me as she held my head and gave me a gentle kiss.

“Besides, if he gives you a headache and makes you cry I'll deal with him,” I told her as I flaunted my muscles.

She chuckled softly.

“But if you ever feel unloved or uncomfortable with everything, you should tell me okay,” she said in a cooing voice, I gave her an absolute nod.

The drive to our new home was filled with floating thoughts, was I going to get along with my new brother? What was he like? Since I didn't really master the care to ask mom about him.

We encountered a flat tire that delayed everything, I was so pissed but what could I have done, typical things.

When we arrived, I was so shocked on meeting my stepbrother.

Though I musked it, I could really wrap my head around why the moon goddess decided to grant me Nathan Mathews as my step brother.

My rival back in campus, as much as I never really wanted to give him the benefit of doubt, I could feel how strong his wolf was.

I could see the hate in his eyes as he saw me walk right through his door and there's no goddamn thing he could do about it.

I knew it was going to be a wild ride.

As much as he played the hospitable host, showing me to my room, I could smell the defiance radiating from him.

Anyone in the room could tell how much he didn't like me, for my mother's sake I pretended as if I didn't care.

The next morning, we had to eat breakfast as a ‘family’ if things couldn't get any worse.

Mum and alpha Matthews had some news to share with us, they were getting married. This was good news I must admit, but that also meant that we were going to stay here forever, till death do us part is it?

I just pretended to congratulate my mother through mind-link, but hell this felt like torture.

Then I saw Luca, he had come for Nathan, he looked at me with unwelcoming eyes, but I'd be damned if I broke in his eyes.

At school and in the field he used to follow Nathan like his shadow, I figured that he was going to be his beta.

He looked at me like something scraped from his shoe, but I knew my wolf Cartis was stronger than him, he couldn't admit it but I knew he could feel it.

We drove to school together, and it was awkward. What more was I expecting, it was day two into my new family, and I should be happy, I mean logically that's what's expected, but here I was brushing shoulders with my new pack, sweet.

At school I didn't go for the workouts because I wasn't feeling like it, I was the best in the team and I was made Captain for it, no one would question my decision, and why I wasn't working out that day was none of anyone's business.

I had invited Bernard, my special guy, for some special time. I liked girls, yes, but I also loved men, typically I was bi, I wasn't anyone's boyfriend, the girls just decided to give themselves that title.

And if things couldn't get any worse, my sweet stepbrother found me in the act, and I wasn't going to explain myself to him, because I didn't see how any of this concerned him.

“Like what you're seeing?” The words slipped out and I could see the disgust in his eyes, I couldn't care less.

That boy seemed to really have been brought up in a pool of morals, maybe he was a virgin for that matter.

He thought he could lecture me but I brushed him off like unwanted dust in a coat.

I wasn't going home with him, I was sure that he was going to blubber his mouth to that Lucas of his, and I wasn't ready to ride in a car radiating an unwelcoming and condescending scent.

One of my buddies Patrick was hosting a party. And of course I was going. Parties had a way of helping me forget about what was going on in my life, for a while.

I was in the pool area making out with some bitch, tasting the alcohol and sugar in her lips, I didn’t even hear anyone coming due to the loud music.

I felt a hand clamp on my shoulder, “ what the hell bro!” A short blonde brown eyed guy stood there, his face red with blazing eyes.

“ How dare you kiss my girl man,” I raised an eyebrow at his words like that was supposed to mean something to me.

I looked at him, then at her, and felt absolutely nothing.

There was no guilt in my conscience and I wasn't planning on apologizing. I just felt irritated that he’d interrupted me.

I laughed and shoved him hard in the chest, and watched him stumble backward straight into the pool. The splash swallowed his curses, and the party erupted in shocked cheers as I turned and walked away, not bothering to look back.

It was already dark and I was drunk to my toss as I made my way back to the pack through a dark alley, the streets were quieter, the night air cool against my skin. My ears picked several heartbeats which didn't seem far away, I narrowed my eyes and saw shadows peeling away from the walls.

A group of men carrying bats on their shoulders stepped into view. My stomach tightened, not that I couldn't deal with them, but because I was so drunk my legs could barely stand. I ignored them and kept walking.

“ Hey loser,” one called out with a horse voice, “ remember me?” I narrowed my eyes to check who it was, goddess, the shirt guy from the party.

“ You should have kept your hands to yourself,” he said, wearing a smirk as he made his way towards me.

“Move,”I scoffed, they erupted in laughter as if what I had said was the most hilarious joke they've heard all year.

Before I could even make a step he swung his bart toward me, it came fast and brutal, pain exploded across my ribs. I was about to swing my fist and fight back, but it seemed my wolf Curtis had gone to sleep, then they were all on me. Wood cracked against bones, as their fists slammed into my face, the world blurred into noise and agony.

This wasn't how I had planned my day to end. To hell with it, I hit the ground, my mouth tasting blood, their voices fading in and out as the beating went on, the cold pavement biting into my cheek while I curled in on myself and waited for it to end.

After what seemed like an eternity they left me on the pavement, my wounds were too much and it would take a while to heal, I stood up with the strength I had left and limped home, as I reached the door, I was beginning to heal but my face was still swollen, I wanted to creep slowly to my room without anyone noticing but then I heard my mother's shocked voice.

“Leo what happened.”

“Fuck,” I cursed as I stood their, everyone at the dinner table looked at me as if they had seen a ghost.
