Chapter 1

Beatriz Del Valle POV

"Bub, wake up..." I felt someone poked my cheek. I knew it was Johana since she usually does this to me. She always wakes me up in the morning as if it's urgent.

"Hmm..." I groaned and turned around. Obviously, I'm ignoring her. The hell is wrong with her? I haven't slept that much yet! Felt like I just closed my eyes for minutes.

"Bei! Wake up! We have to prepare for our training. What time did you went home last night huh? You told me you'll just drop by AJ's house! I woke up at 12 midnight and you're still not home. I swear Beatriz! I will kick your ass if you---"

"Shh..."

"BEATRIZ!" Johana shouted and I immediately jumped off the bed.

"Hi Bub! Morning, Bub!" I said smiling at her. We call each other Bub because Johana said so, so yeah.

As much as I want to stay asleep, I just can't. I don't wanna make Johana mad, she might say nonsense things that will surely irritate me. Like, I stayed at AJ's house because I like her and bla bla. Whatever! Anyway, AJ was my teammate back when I was still in high school.

And this annoying girl right here is Johana Morin, my best friend and teammate. She makes me happy... she's my everything but she doesn't know about it.

"Hi Bub! Good morning... let's eat our breakfast hmm?" She said while smiling. There are times that I don't understand her mood... earlier she's starting to get mad at me, now she's smiling again. Weird but her smile makes me feel calm.

"Yes, Ma'am!" I said and follow her as she walks to the door.

"Good morning baby besh and Johana! Let's have our breakfast so we can go to the gym early." Said Aisa, our team captain. She's older than us.

"Thanks." Johana and I said. Johana sat beside Gizzle and the only seat that's available is beside Madeline so I sat there.

"Good morning, Bea!" Said Madeline and smiled at me. My teammates and I live together in the university's dorm so all of us were close friends...

"Morning, Mads!" I greeted back. Madeline is my batchmate and she was a close friend of mine back then...

I looked at Johana and saw her staring at us and suddenly rolled her eyes on me. What now?

"Jo, can you pass the water for me please?" I ask Johana.

"Jo?"

Since it's obvious that she's ignoring me. I decided to get the water by myself. What seems to be her problem? Is she currently on her red days? What a moody!

We finished eating and some of my teammates started to prepare for our training.

"Bea and Mads don't forget to wash the dishes. Today's your sched." Aisa said.

"Sure, Captain!" Said Madeline and immediately went to the sink.

Before following Mads, I checked Jo and she's laughing with our teammates. Tss. I really don't understand her. She's my best friend but sometimes her mood swings can really get out of hand.

But even if she's like that, I still find her cute. Geez! How do I stop feeling this way for my best friend? Tsk!

I headed to the sink and helped Madeline with the dishes.

We're both quiet while doing the dishes. I still find it awkward to be alone with Madeline but I surely missed her... and I want us to be close friends again just like before but... I can't force it. I don't want to make things harder for her. I know that being friends with her while she's moving on from me won't help her. Yes, Madeline confessed her feelings for me before... she said she's inlove with me. I love her too, but as a friend only. I don't want to force myself trying to love her. She deserves better. So I rejected her. It's pretty heartbreaking for her, but I don't want to lie to her. Now, she's moving on from that rejection. I'm glad that after many days of ignoring each other for the better... we're now in this situation where we can casually talk to each other.

It may not be the same as before, but it's fine knowing that she's finally close to being the happy Madeline again.

"Bea you're spacing out again. You alright?" She asked.

Shit. Why does it feel like I'm the one who's badly affected by the situation?

"Oh... Sorry, Mads. Uh... sure you can leave." I said as I stutter. She's done doing her part.

She looked at me intently... "I missed you, Bea." She said smiling. But I can see still see sadness in her eyes.

"I missed you more, Madeline."

If she only knew how much I want to hug her right now and tell her that I miss bonding with her. I miss Madeline, my close friend in the team...

Our moment was ruined when a spatula fell on the floor.

"Oops! Sorry! Hehe!" I turned around and saw Johana while smiling at us. What the? How long she's been staying here?

"This spatula makes me want to throw it to the EVERYONE'S BAE." Johana added while holding the spatula and glaring at me.

I don't understand her. What's her problem?

"Throw it now, Johana." Said Madeline and they both laughed. After that, they both left me in the kitchen sink, still wondering what the hell was that. And who the freak is that EVERYONE's BAE?

After washing the dishes. I immediately prepare for our training. I saw Johana with Gizzle and Jianna. Great! They left me.

Good thing Madeline was still inside the dorm. She's probably waiting for me so I walk with her.

"Bei, just wanna inform you that I'll be staying in Davao again." Said Madeline while we're walking.

"What?! Why?"

"Dad's sick. They need me back there for our business since Mom's busy taking care of Dad."

I felt sad. "Do they know about that?" I asked pertaining to our teammates who were walking with us.

She nodded. "Yep, you're the only one who was not informed about this since I want to tell it to you personally." She said and raised her hand for a peace sign.

I laughed. "I'll surely miss you, Mads!"

"I'll miss you too, Bea."

"Anyway, when will you leave?"

"Later at 7PM."

My eyes widened. "What?! Really?!"

She nodded again.

"I'll drive you to the airport if you want. We can also bond after training besides I don't have classes today."

"Someone will drive me to the airport. But we can date for sure. Your treat?"

"Of course! My treat!"

I did not notice that we're now here inside the gym. So we started to do our training routine before Coach Fai arrive.

"Girls! Get your partner! We'll start stretching." Aise shouted.

I instantly go to Johana because she's always my partner every stretching time.

"Jo." I called her but she's not looking. Jianna had to poke her arm just for her to notice me. Tss. Why is this girl ignoring me?

"Johana, Bea's calling you." Said Gizzele. Jo slowly looked at me and went to me lazily.

"Who's gonna go first, Bub?" I asked.

"You." She said coldly and then helped me stretch out.

"Ah! Ow! Johana!" I frowned when she pulled my arm with so much force.

"You tryna break my bones huh?"

She giggled. "Peace!"

I don't know how I survived stretching with Johana. After stretching, we did many drills, play against each other and all. Then we finished our 3-hour training. All I can say now is that, my body's hurting.

"Jo, massage me please." I said.

She sat beside me and ignored me. Tss. What's wrong with her? Normally she will massage my back and tell stories that she herself can't understand but now... she's ignoring me. Great!

"Jo... you mad?"

"Ask the spatula."

I rolled my eyes. "Bub? What's your problem? Hmm?"

"Ask yourself. Better, be with Madeline. Stay with her."

"Yeah, I'll be with her later."

"Who told you you're allowed to leave? Seriously Beatriz? Without asking for my permission?"

I just look at her. Weird as hell. But still cute, eh?

"Bub you serious? Mad's leaving. She'll stay in Davao so I want to spend some time with her before she leaves."

"Hmmm...."

"Please?"

"Just kidding, Bub! Of course you're allowed just please don't forget to bring home some food. And please get home early."

I laughed. "Yeah, Ms. Moody."

After some chats with Johana, she decided to leave the gym since she has 3 classes to attend today. So I waited for Madeline, she's changing her clothes.

"Let's go, Mads?" I said as I saw Mad's ready. She's wearing a floral dress and she looks beautiful. We headed to my car and we went to a buffet restaurant.

Before, this was actually our usual bonding moment. We would go out to eat and laugh at random things. But things changed when she confessed... but yeah, I'm glad we're able to do this again before she leaves.

"Mads! Eat slowly! We have a lot of time to stay here." I told her because she's eating so fast.

"Sorry! It tastes sho good." She said while munching her food.

I smiled because she's too adorable. I just stared at her. Sometimes I can't help but think why I don't have feelings for Madeline. She's a nice person. She's not that hard to love. And if I choose her, it will not be hard for me since I know that she loves me. That's why I keep asking myself why do I always choose Johana even if being with her is full of uncertainties. But I guess we can't really teach our hearts who to love. And even if my world start to turn upside down, I will always choose Johana...

"Stop staring, Bei! I might melt." Madeline joked.

"We'll go somewhere later... for now, enjoy your food." I told her.

After spending the whole 2 hours in the buffet restaurant, we went to an amusement park. We also go here before to talk about life because the atmosphere here is very relaxing even if it's hot.

"Thank you for this day, Bei." Madeline told me.

"No, Madeline. I should be the one to thank you. You made me happy and I really missed this."

She smiled at me. "I'll miss you Bea. Anyway, let's go. I don't wanna be late for my flight."

We immediately went to our dorm and I helped Madeline packed some of her things. After that, her driver arrived and she needs to leave. We bid goodbye together with our teammates.

When Madeline left, I look for Johana because I noticed that I haven't seen her again since our morning training. She told me to go home early yet she's not here. Where is she?
