Chapter 4: Marriage
For Béa's wedding, the whole family was present, her cousin Yolande and her husband Mathieu (yes her husband, because imagine that Aunt Mélanie accepted Mathieu as her son-in-law, so the wedding was celebrated. They settled in the capital and aunt Mélanie would visit them from time to time), his brother Marcel and his wife Nina and then aunt Mélanie.
On the Mel side, there were many people, starting with Grandma Mel, including aunts, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
The room was packed. The newlyweds stood at the altar as the mayor read them the articles regarding the wedding after which they exchanged rings and vows. The ceremony went well, as did the reception.
A week after the wedding, Noël and Béa moved into their new home in another city. Life was just amazing for her. She had a loving and caring husband, her in-laws adored her and didn't treat her badly as she initially thought. She was a full member of the Mel family.
In this big city, she was the great and respected Mrs. Mel. The one all women were jealous of and envied. She, who hadn't had a major education, was now the mistress of this town. She was at the head of different associations at the same time. It was known throughout the city that if you wanted to curry favor with Mr. Mel, you had to know how to flatter Mrs. Mel.
Everything was going well for the newlyweds. But time passed and Bea's belly still did not round out. They went around the hospitals and the song was always the same
Doctor: Sir, your analyzes show that there is no problem either with you or with Madame. If I can give you my opinion I will tell you to wait a little longer. You are so young you can always have a child in the future. And you've only been married for a year so give yourself time.
Noël and Béa: (standing up and shaking hands with the doctor) Thank you doctor and see you soon
The Doctor: Goodbye and I hope we meet again soon with good news
Bea just cried all the way back. She had everything a woman could want in her marriage. She could buy expensive jewelry, have cars, houses… But the only thing she couldn't buy with money was a child of hers. It was just then that she thought whoever coined the phrase "money can't buy happiness" was right on the money.
Once home, she and her husband went straight to their room. Her eyes were red and swollen with pout and sighs as she made her husband couldn't help but let out a laugh. She looked at him in astonishment, not knowing what could make him laugh at such a moment.
Noël: Sorry my angel but frankly if you saw the face that you make at the moment.
Béa: It's nothing funny, I'm sad and worried.
Noel: Worried? Why?
Béa (All in tears): Because if I can't have children, you'll leave me and I don't want to lose you.
Noel (taking her in his arms and smiling): I don't want to lose you either. Have no fear even if you have to wait ten, twenty or even fifty years, I will wait I will never leave you.
Béa (with a smile): Never?
Christmas: Never. Want me to tell you a secret?
Bea: I'm listening.
Noel: It's true that I want a child but I also like this moment because I have an excuse to have you at any time. For example, now I really, really want to try for a baby. And you know the more we do it, the sooner we will have a result.
Béa: Baby can't you be a little serious? I'm talking to you…. hum (she is stopped in her sentence by a kiss from her husband)
Noel (pulling her lips back and lifting her off the floor to head for the bed): Hush a bit of silence I thought you were sad? Here is the new rule every morning, every noon, every evening and whenever the opportunity arises unless you have your measurements I will make love to you again and again.
Béa (smiling): Do you think you can fix everything with sex Mr. Mel?
Noël (undressing): My little finger tells me that it's because I don't work enough, but don't worry, I'll fix it right away, Mrs. Mel.
