Chapter 5: the Luna's trial
Tristan got hold of the tablet beside him and smashed it against the wall, his face was covered in fury.
"How did they find out," He asked, his jaw ticked "They move too fast."
"She is not like the others," Landon said quietly "They are scared of her."
Tristan looked at Selene, her face looking pale and her eyes blazing with revolt. "She is not ready," Tristan whispered.
"Ready for what," Selene asked.
Some minutes later…
Selene was standing in a circle full of wolves they are not shifted.
Their presence felt wide, cold and judging.
The men were dressed in suits and the women were dressed in white gowns all radiating power.
At the center stood an elegant woman dressed in silver, lady Aveline Tristan's aunt, she is one of the high ranking Elders.
"Selene Damian," Aveline called softly "Or should I say… the hidden Luna."
Selene crossed her arms. "If you all brought me here to gawk then you should all get in line."
Gasps reverberated.
Aveline smiled softly. "I like your rage, hold on to it because you will need that fire at the right time."
Another elder spoke. "We all know that you carry the mark yes, yet your blood has not shifted meaning you are incomplete."
Selene frowned. "I am human not an animal," She said.
"You tell lies," the third elder sneered "Only the chosen one can survive the mating bond with an alpha of his strength, she must be tested."
"Let the Luna trials commence immediately," the second elder said.
Tristan stepped forward. "She is not ready."
"You can't be the one to decide that," elder Aveline said, staring at Selene, her soft expression turned vicious "She must be tested."
Selene turned to face Landon. "What does she mean, what the hell are Luna trials," she asked.
"It's a test made for chosen Lunas," Landon said "Painful ones."
Selene breath caught. "This is evil!" She snapped staring at everyone "You all want to take pleasure in torturing me for something I don't know or even understand, well be my guest."
Tristan whipped his head towards her, he was baffled by her courage.
"I have been through worst," Selene said, surprising herself.
"You sound tough and stubborn," elder Aveline said "I hope you don't break when we get started."
Selene stared deeply into her eyes. "Oh I forgot to tell you that, toughness and stubbornness are part of who I am."
"I wish you well human Selene," elder Aveline told her.
The hallway after the meeting…
Emery pulled Selene aside.
"You look bold," she said softly "You seem not to know what you are walking into."
"Why do I feel like that is the only way out of all of this," Selene said.
"Bold," Emery asked.
"Yes being bold," Selene soothed "That is what I need right now."
"Good," Emery smiled her eyes gleaming "Alpha Tristan has assigned me as your right hand maid."
Selene looked surprised. "Really, he did that."
"Yes he did," Emery said "He seems to have developed a soft spot for you in his heart, the last I checked, no one has been able to calm him down."
"What was he like," Selene asked her voice sounded curious.
"Alpha Tristan is a very dangerous and strong leader but."
"But what," Selene asked.
"oh it's nothing," she said "we can't talk about it it's not allowed."
"Oh ok," Selene said "I'm hungry I need… "
Emery cut her off "Your food is set and ready."
"Oh ok."
Across the mansion…
In a velvet room, a glass shattered.
"That witch human girl!" Clarissa screamed "That spot is supposed to be mine!"
Her mother Calista Jovan appeared behind her, placing her hand on her shoulder.
"We can take it back sweetheart," she whispered "Make sure you take pleasure in destroying her and place her in a spot that won't make her survive the trials."
Clarissa grinned. "I will make her regret ever coming here," she seethed.
"Remember I'm solidly behind you," Mrs. Calista smiled "She is nobody, she is just a rogue."
Clarissa smirks icily. "She is fake and tough but let's see if she can tame me down."
Later that night…
Selene stared at the moon through the window, first time ever the moonlight made her skin glow so soft and alive.
She smiles widely.
Her mind flashed back to her parents and Immediately her smile turned soured, she felt downcast.
Her parents are alone, how will they cope without her she thought. She wondered how her mom is faring right now, her heart pounded fast.
Meanwhile…
Tristan stood beside the window in his private office, he sipped the glass of wine he was holding he felt disturbed about the whole Luna trials test.
"They are going to crush her," Landon said.
Tristan turned around to face him. "There is no escaping the trial It's her destiny," he said calmly "She must do right by facing it."
"What if she dies" Landon asked "Have you thought of it"
Tristan grabbed the wine bottle and empty it in his glass. "She won't die she is tough."
"You know you can stop this alpha," Landon soothed.
"Yes but I will not," he told him and took a sip of the wine "I can not interfere in their affairs, I will let them have a say in this matter."
A sharp knock came at the door.
"Come in," Landon said.
The door creaked open.
Clarissa stepped in.
"Please alpha... excuse me," Landon said, as he quickly left the office.
Clarissa face brimmed with happiness, she moved closer to Tristan. "You don't look too well alpha Tristan" She said.
"How many times have I told you not to come into my office at night," He said, his voice sounded vicious.
Clarissa smirks. "Why are you acting up?"
"For the tenth time Clarissa we are not fated, meaning you are not my Luna!" he shouted.
Clarissa grinned. "And she is? You barely know her, yet you are choosing her over me."
"Leave my presence," he said his voice sounded icily.
Clarissa grinned. "I hope she fails," she seethed, she walked out and shut the door behind her.
