The First Confrontation

The entire school seemed different after Anthony stood up to the bullies.

Students who had ignored him before now whispered whenever he was passing. Some looked at him with admiration Others looked at him with pity.

Because everyone knows one thing.

Sooner or later, Lucas King would come for him.

And when that happened, nobody would be able to help.

Anthony set his books properly inside his locker and closed the locker after lunch and started walking toward his next class.

As he moved through the hallway, conversations suddenly died, immediately he was about to reach their side.

The noise faded.

The laughter stopped.

An uneasy silence spread through the corridor.

Anthony frowned.

“What now?”

Then he noticed where everyone was looking, A group of students was walking toward him at the center was Lucas. For the first time, Anthony saw him up close.

Lucas wasn’t the biggest student in school, He wasn’t the loudest either But there was something about him.

The way he walked,The way people moved aside whenever he is coming without being asked, The confidence in his eyes,It was the confidence of someone who had never been challenged.

Anthony understood everything immediately the reason why students called him the King of Westbridge.

Lucas stopped a few feet away, His friends stood behind him like bodyguards the hallway became completely silent.

Dozens of students watched from a safe distance. Waiting, Expecting a fight.

Anthony crossed his arms,Lucas studied him carefully.

“So you’re Anthony.”

His voice was calm.

Almost friendly.

But Anthony could feel the challenge hidden underneath.

“And you are Lucas,” Anthony replied.

A few students gasped.

Nobody has ever spoke to Lucas in that manner.

Lucas smiled slightly.

“I heard you have been making quite an impression.”He said to him.

Anthony shrugged.

“I just stopped some guys from picking on a kid.”Anthony replied.

“Those were my friends.”

“They were wrong.”

The smile on Lucas face faded.

For a moment, neither boy spoke, the tension in the hallway thickened, Lucas tilted his head.

“You know, most new students spend months trying not to attract attention.”He said to him sternly.

“Maybe I’m not most students.”Anthony replied.

Several students exchanged nervous glances, they were staring at each in disbelief they were so surprised the way Anthony was replying to lucas.

Anthony wasn’t backing down Not even a little, Lucas looked genuinely interested.

“Do you always have an answer for everything?”He asked.

“No.”Anthony replied.

Anthony move closer to him.

“Only when someone asks a stupid question.”

The hallway exploded with whispers.

Someone muttered, “He’s dead.”

Another student covered her mouth in shock Nobody insulted Lucas, Nobody has ever done that before.

Yet Anthony had just done it without hesitation,Lucas stared at him Then, unexpectedly, he laughed, A genuine laugh.

His followers looked confused.

“You’re funny,” Lucas said.

“I’m not trying to be.”

“I know.”

Lucas’s smile returned.

“But you’re brave.”

Anthony’s expression hardened.

“Bravery has nothing to do with it.”

“No?”

Lucas folded his arms.

“Then what do you call standing alone against people stronger than you?”

Anthony looked at him directly in the eye.

“Doing what’s right.”He replied.

For the first time, Lucas’s smile disappeared completely,The words hit harder than Anthony intended Because deep down, Lucas knew exactly what he was implying.

That power didn’t make someone right,The silence stretched Neither boy looked away It became a battle without fists.

A contest of wills.

And nobody could tell who was winning.

Across the hallway, students watched nervously,Emily Parker, one of Anthony classmates, shook her head.

“This is insane.”

Her friend swallowed.

“Should we report this to a teacher?”

“No teacher is going to fixing this.”

She wasn’t wrong.

This wasn’t about rules.

This was about pride.

Lucas took a step forward, Anthony stood his ground their shoulders was almost touching each other now.

“You don’t know this school,” Lucas said quietly.

“Then maybe someone should explain it.”

Lucas move closer.

“Things work differently here.”

Anthony didn’t move.

“That’s the problem.”

A flicker of annoyance appeared in Lucas eyesthe first crack in his calm mask.

“You think you’re some kind of hero?”

Anthony shook his head.

“No.”

“Then why get involved?”

“Because nobody else would.”

The answer hit harder than any insult, Several students lowered their heads Anthony was very right.

Everyone had watched the bullying happen, Nobody had acted, Nobody talk, Not even Lucas for a moment, some thought flashed across Lucas face then it vanished then His expression became unreadable again.

“You have a lot to learn.”

Anthony smiled faintly.

“And maybe you do too.”

The tension reached its peak, One wrong word, One shove, One careless movement that was all what it's would take.

The entire hallway held its breath, Waiting for fists to fly,Waiting for chaos But something unexpected happened.

Lucas stepped back,A collective gasp echoed through the crowd Anthony blinked, Lucas had backed away first Not because he was afraid but Because he had made a decision.

The King wasn’t ready to fight Not yet He looked at Anthony with new interest Almost like a player studying a dangerous opponent.

“You know what I like about you?” Lucas asked.

Anthony raised an eyebrow.

“What?

“You don’t fear me.”Lucas said to him.

“Should I?”He replied.

Lucas smirked.

“Most people do.”

Anthony shrugged.

Then maybe most people don’t know you,For a second, Lucas looked surprised then he laughed again.

“You really are different.”

“And you’re really full of yourself.”

Several students struggled not to laugh.

Lucas noticed.

His eyes shifted across the crowd Instantly, the laughter died the reminder of who he was remained, King or not, he still controlled this school At least for now.

Lucas turned to leave his followers immediately followed him the crowd slowly began breathing again the confrontation was over.

No punches, No shouting, No winner Yet everyone knew something important had happened.

Anthony and Lucas had finally meet and none of them had bowed for each other,Halfway down the hallway, Lucas stopped Without turning around, he spoke.

“Anthony.”

Anthony looked up.

“What?”

Lucas glanced over his shoulder.

A small smile appeared on his face.

“Next time we meet”

The hallway fell silent again.

“Don't expect me to walk away.”

Then he continued walking down the corridor his followers disappeared around the corner the spell finally broke.

Students resume back into their excited conversations, Anthony stood motionless.

Watching, Thinking Something told him this wasn’t over Not even close Because beneath Lucas confidence, Anthony had seen something unexpected.

Respect,And respect could be far more dangerous than hatred.

As the final bell rang, Anthony headed straight toward his class But he never noticed the figure standing on the second-floor balcony above him.

A man in a black suit watched everything,Every word, Every second, Every move, the stranger slowly pulled out his phone from his pocket.

“Sir,” he said quietly.

“I’ve found him.”

A deep voice answered from the other end.

“Are you certain?”

The man eyes remained fixed on Anthony.

“Yes.”

A long silence followed,Then the voice spoke again.

“Keep watching him.”

The call ended.

The stranger put his phone back into his pocket Far below, Anthony disappeared into the crowd, completely unaware.

Unaware that someone had been searching for him, Unaware that his arrival at Westbridge Academy had attracted attention far beyond the school walls.

And unaware that the real danger was only beginning.
