Chapter 1

"It's time to assemble the Alpha."

A loud howl was heard among the crowd of wolves.

Jackson, a tall hefty man with long curly hair and green eyes that sparkled in the dark, scanned around.

"The alpha needs more time alone," he responded, looking at the Gemma.

The Gemma stared, his brows furrowed in a frown.

"There isn't much time left, we all have been waiting for hours. I wonder what might be delaying him. It's not in his nature to keep us waiting on an important night, a night he will introduce his mate to the pack."

Jackson scoffed, his perfect lips twisted in a smirk.

"You can't rush the Alpha, he is the master here and we all must follow orders," Jackson noted firmly.

Silence.

The crowd of werewolves gazed at Jackson whose heart was filled with worry and great curiosity. He wonders what might be delaying the Alpha.

He glanced at his watch, it was almost midnight and the moon shone brighter than ever.

"Is he alright?" A gentle voice, more like a whisper, spoke behind him. Jackson turned, his eyes fixed on Lelia, the alpha's supposed mate. He knew deep inside that the Alpha delay might have resulted from Lelia's presence.

"Yes, he is."

Her deep blue eyes radiated nothing else but doubts.

"I have to go."

"Where?" She inquired, her long curly hair covering a part of her face.

Jackson scanned around, "You all need the presence of the Alpha before the festival begins. I need to call him."

Lelia held him.

"Let me come with you." She said,

Gently, Jackson let go of her hand, "You don't have to. I am his adviser and Beta, it is my duty, not yours. I have to be excused." Saying nothing else, he walked out.

The Moon Wolf pack is the most powerful and strongest pack in the werewolf world. Hidden out of the sight of humans and known to be ruled by a handsome and wealthy alpha.

"Alpha, the festival is about to begin," Jackson announced as he walked into a large room.

Seated across the room was Gabriel, Alpha of the pack. His appearance radiated so much power. His body is muscularly built with a firm tall height that speaks nothing but wealth and leadership. His sharp dark hazel eyes pierced deep into one's soul by just a glimpse. People regard him as the fairest of men, a semi-god, and a billionaire who installs fear in the hearts of humans.

"I am not ready to proceed. Let them wait!"

Gabriel affirmed, he rubbed his palms gently as he paced around the room, his tongue hiding unspoken words...

"Why Alpha?"

A loud sigh was heard.

"Is there any problem?" Jackson asked, "Do we have any enemies to deal with or is there something you are hiding from me? We both know that I am ready to serve you, even if it takes my life along the line"

Gabriel smiled, a look of pride buried in his eyes.

"You have never failed me, Jackson, Never!"

Gabriel sat on a seat, restless, he stood on his feet, reluctantly, his eyes not leaving his beta.

"You look troubled Alpha."

"Do I?"

Jackson nodded, "Even a blind wolf can perceive it from afar."

Gabriel sighed loudly again.

"What I am about to do has never occurred before, Jackson." He revealed and with the look in Gabriel's eyes, Jackson quickly understood.

"Alpha, I greatly understand how you feel. If you don't want to do it, then it's fine, you know that only you make great decisions regarding the safety of this pack." Jackson responded, he took a step towards Gabriel whose stare was stern.

"What if I am about to do the wrong thing?" Gabriel asked.

As an alpha, he has never questioned his decisions in handling certain issues that might jeopardize the pack. But right now, his mind was troubled greatly and he could feel the fierce heat from his body.

Jackson placed a hand on his shoulder, "Nothing you do can ever be wrong. You are a great man, rich and greatly feared by werewolves and humans. You haven't committed any wrong act in my eyes or that of your subjects. As your beta, I am always fully beside you in any decision you decide to take because I know that you will do all you can to protect the pack."

A glimpse of hope radiated in Gabriel's, at once, he could feel a strong urge of lightning spark down his spine.

"Let's go!"

"Now?"

"Yes! I have my subjects waiting."

They both walked out of the room and Into the crowd. At the sight of the alpha, the crowd howled in excitement.

"Thank goodness you are alright, for a moment, I thought something was wrong." Lelia walked towards Gabriel, wrapped her arms around his, and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.

At once, Gabriel pushed her away, and a look of shock appeared in her eyes.

"Stay away from me!" He roared in anger.

At once, the crowd turned their gaze on him.

Stunned, Lelia stayed still unable to get up, her eyes not leaving Gabriel.

"What's going on?" She mumbled in fear.

"You slut!" He cursed, hitting her hard on her face.

"What are you doing here?"

"Haven't I restricted you enough?"

"Why force yourself on a man who will never love you?"

Lilia's body shook greatly as his words pierced her deep, her face hurt badly.

"This isn't true Gabriel, what has gotten into you?"

"You! Yes You, Lelia! You are like a letch on my skin, your sight alone disgusts me to my bone. You are not welcome here Lelia, this should be the last time you cast yourself in my pack!" Deep anger boomed as he spoke.

Lelia's heart crushed, confused, she narrowed her gaze.

"What are you saying, Gabriel? I am your mate! Never will I leave when we are fated to be together."

Deep irritation appeared in his eyes. Angered, he held her hand tightly, his long nails pierced deep into her skin, blood oozing out.

Lelia yelped in pain.

"Listen!" He fired, "I don't want you Lelia, I have never accepted you as my mate and I will never accept you. In front of everyone present here, it's best you know that I reject you because you aren't fit to be my Luna, Never!"

Hot tears rolled down her face. She tried to speak but words failed her and her heart burned vigorously.

At once, she loosened his grip and ran out of the pack as fast as her legs could take her, and more tears flowed endlessly.

"What have you done Alpha?"

"Enough! I have made my decision. She doesn't belong here and will never be!"
