CHAPTER 19 :
Suddenly, a servant steps in, and asks, "My highness, you don't seem well. How can I help you?" Oh, I don't have time for this.
"Where is your master's room?" I ask him, with a stoic expression plastered on my face.
"Master doesn't allow anyone to enter his room at night...." He mumbles.
"WHERE IS HIS ROOM?" I shout at him, making him jump.
"My highness, follow me." He requests, as he leads me through the hallways and stops infront of a massive ivory door.
"Master should be inside. But...I should inform him about your arrival, my lord." His voice is faltering. Maybe, I look scary.
"There'd be no need of that." I snap at him, dismissing him with a signal.
He hesitates, but eventually leaves me alone in the hallway, infront of Dravon's door. Daemon, cool, you can do this! My subconscious pats my back as I take a deep breath to calm my nerves down.
"Ready..1,2,3...go." I say to myself as I push the door, and it opens with a creak.
"I told no one to enter my room at this hour!" I hear a voice snap at me from the room.
Good, he hasn't seen me yet. I walk into the room, only to find him slumped on a sofa, with a black untied robe covering his shoulders, and the same leather pants. He has a glass of scotch in his hand, and he finally looks up at me.
"Mr. Grey, I thought it was enough for a night." His lips twist into a smile which doesn't quite reach his eyes. He looks miserable, and I don't know why — not that I care.
He stands up from the couch, and stands infront of me. I can smell the alcohol in his breath, but I know that he's not drunk as well.
And, bam! Before I know it, I've smacked him hard on his right cheek. Oof, my hand hurts, but I'm not worried about it right now. His face is turned towards the floor, as he cups his reddening cheek with one hand, and stares at me, wide eyed.
"You're one fucked up son of a bitch!" I shout at him, and he fails to meet my gaze. He lets go of his cheek and turns to face me.
"A beast. An abomination. That's what you are. A monster, who doesn't have any feelings whatsoever." I remark, as he grimaces and closes his eyes for a second.
He extends his hand as he touches me on the arm, and I loosen out of his grip and slap him once more, this time on the left cheek. He quietly endures that when I say, "Don't come near me."
"Daemon...please..." For a moment, I think I saw his eyes getting moist.
"Don't you dare “Daemon” me. Whoever I sleep with, whoever I kiss, whoever I snoop around with, is NONE of your fucking business." I scream at the top of my lungs.
"So, you stay the fuck away from me." I give the final blow, as I storm out of his room, and I feel him staring at me as I walk away. But, I had to do this for self defense. I can't let him get under my skin. The more distant he and I are, the more happy I will be.
"Daemon! Listen to me!" He suddenly is infront of me. Damn that vampire speed.
"What?" I snarl, making him flinch by an inch, and I hear him taking a deep breath. This better be important.
"I didn't mean to say it—" I wave my hand dismissively, stopping him.
"I don't like you. I never have. Now, step out of my way." I hiss with anger I've never felt before. He grabs my wrist and with a jerk, pulls me closer.
"Say it again. That you don't like me." His red eyes are intense, unnerving. They seem to see through my bare soul. And, I'm in a fix.
"Read my mind then, if you can!" I shout at him, trying to get free from his monstrous grip. What does he think he's doing?
"I haven't fed much. The powers are weak. I'll have to rely on your answer." He grazes my jawline with a finger.
"I don't like you. I never have. Dare touch me again, and I swear on Satan that I'll chop that hand off." My tone is menacing, threatening. I'm being honest. I don't like him, I love him, in fact, but I can't let him get to me.
He unhands me at once, and closes his eyes and opens them again, "Sorry." He mutters, before disappearing in the hallways.
