Chapter 2

I hid behind a thick brush as I watched a male wolf stalk through the woods, praying that the brush was enough coverage for my fur as I looked at the wolf prancing around the forest. I trembled in fear as I realized that he was twice my size and an alpha, for that matter, cause of his tall frame. His fur is as dark as midnight, and I struggle to keep my gaze on him as he blends into the shadows of the trees. I had been running the entire night, and I was barely trying to stay conscious at this point.

My paws felt sore, and I was sure they were filled with splinters as I hadn’t transformed into my wolf for a long time. I tried to move from my hiding spot, but I made a big mistake as I stepped on fallen leaves and made them rustle. I saw the wolf stop, his ears straightening in alert. Fuck, I mumbled, he heard it. I watched as he sniffed the air. I tried to make one last effort to stay hidden as I lowered myself to the ground.

I could not run as I was so tired, and he was very close to where I had hidden and would catch me in seconds. All I can do is wait while praying to the moon goddess that he won't find me. Suddenly, I feel that someone is watching me, I look up and catch his amber eyes glaring straight into me. He found me. He looks at me over the brushes but doesn’t attack. He transforms suddenly and I watch as he changes into his humanoid figure before me.

I questioned all I knew about alphas. I always thought that Alpha Eric was tall as he stood at 6,8 feet, but this alpha puts him to shame as he is way taller than Alpha Eric. I was thankful that the brush covered half of his body because he stood over me in his birthday suit, and I was not ready to see his complete package at our first meeting. I tried to evade his gaze as it felt as if he was piercing into my soul. I see his broad shoulders and chiseled jaw. I try to make out his face, but I can't see much. I know his human form is just as good-looking as his wolf form.

You shouldn’t be here, he said. Do you know where you are? He asked again; I shook my head to respond as I was still in my wolf form because I was too embarrassed to transform in front of him. You are at sliver moon pack territory, little Wolfie. I shivered as he mentioned the name of the pack. This wolf is from the Silver Moon Pack; he would probably kill me if he found out I am from the Blood Moon Pack. The bad blood between the two packs runs deep. At Blood Moon Pack, Patrol guards are trained to kill Sliver Moon Pack members at sight, and I am pretty sure Sliver Moon is no different.

Which pack do you come from; he asked; “midnight pack?” I shook my head.

Silent moon? I shake my head again.

Blood moon?” he spats, his voice filled with venom and resentment; I almost nod my head but catch myself. So, where are you from? What are you then? A rogue? He says, eyeing me skeptically. I nod my head as answering as a rogue doesn’t seem bad at this moment. The previous movement of shaking my head made me feel woozy, and I suddenly felt a throbbing pain at the back of my head.

I whined in pain, sinking into the ground, and my sight suddenly went blurry. I still try to gaze on him trying to find out what he would do next. Would he kill me? Or would he spare me? I don’t think I am much of a threat, considering I am a skinning omega and not much of a fight, but most packs hated rogues and would kill them at sight, and I am sure that this pack is no different from the rumors I heard at my pack about their bloodlust.

While these thoughts go around in my head, I suddenly feel strong arms around me, picking me up from the ground. I tried to stay conscious as I was being carried against a firm chest to find out where we were going, but I failed cause I was too tired.
