Chapter 6

Late at night, Aria was jolted awake by a low, guttural growl. Instinctively, she reached out to embrace the alpha by her side, but her arms found only emptiness.

She rose and descended the stairs. Just as she reached the second floor, faint moans reached her ears. Her steps faltered. Suppressing the sour ache in her chest, she walked toward the guest room doorway.

The door was wide open. In the moonlight, two intertwined bodies were clearly visible.

Kane stood with his bare back to the light, his upper body exposed. His beta wore a strapless fishtail gown, its floor-length hemline pushed up to her waist. Her fair, slender legs were wrapped tightly around Kane’s muscular hips.

Julia’s face was flushed, a rosy hue spreading across her cheeks as she clung to Kane’s neck, her voice fragmented and breathless.

“Kane... the dress... the one I just got today... You’ve ruined it—”

Kane chuckled softly, his voice hoarse as he whispered in Julia’s ear.

“Didn’t you get that dress just to please me?”

“I even had my designer make you a custom piece to match. Shouldn’t you be the one fulfilling my request tonight?”

Julia clung desperately to Kane, her hoarse voice trembling.

“Alpha, please... I can’t take it anymore...”

Her head tilted back as she gasped for air.

“What if Aria sees us...”

Kane froze for a moment, his expression turning cold as he cut her off.

“She’s nothing but a useless fool. She wouldn’t know anything. Don’t you dare breathe a word of this to her.”

Julia pouted, tracing small circles on his chest with her finger.

“I know... It’s just that knowing she’ll soon become your mate while I’m stuck being your secret... it makes me sad.”

At her soft complaint, Kane’s harsh demeanor softened slightly.

“Jealous little girl... Haven’t I already brought you home? Isn’t that enough?”

“Don’t worry. Even after the mate bond, I won’t leave you. Whatever Aria has, you’ll have, too.”

Outside the window, the moonlight illuminated Aria’s pale face. She covered her mouth tightly, her tears already blurring her vision.

The primal moans from the room cut into her heart like a blade, leaving endless wounds behind.

Barefoot, she ran into the rain, her body drenched. She just wanted to get as far away as possible.

In her daze, she thought she saw the younger Kane, his eyes filled with unwavering sincerity.

“Little wolf, leave him. Leave the one who no longer loves you. Never forgive him.”

Tears streaming, she looked at the alpha she had once loved with all her heart.

“Fine. I will leave you. I will never forgive you.”
