Chapter 3
True to her word, she doesn't move, she doesn't even have the decency to look away. As I pull up my pants, still unable to believe what's happening, Trish gets up from the floor and smooths down her skirt.
"You'd better find your underwear, I don't fancy tripping over it while I'm working here,"Rosmery tells Trish as she's about to leave the office.
"I wasn't wearing anything, you tight bitch, because unlike you, I like to have fun,"Trish replies, obviously angry at her first and only chance in years to be destroyed like this."Don't you've better things to do than be a cock-blocker?"
"More of a bitch than a whore, obviously getting paid for things she's not entitled to at this company."My God, what a warrior this girl is! Even though it annoys me a lot, I almost burst out laughing at her comment, because it's so similar to my own thoughts. She seems to be coming without any filter."Oh, and by the way, I don't care about being fat, since I'm here to do my job, and right now my job is to work with this slut. So, if you don't mind, close the door so I can finish my work."
Trish was about to reply when Rosmery interrupted her."Oh, and darling, as the receptionist, I know you also serve the coffee, isn't that your real job? So please, get to work and bring me some, will you? It would be very kind."Her voice was so soft and sweet, as if she weren't putting Trish in her place.
Trish's face flushes with anger, and her eyes dart toward me, as if to offer some protection."Make it two coffees,"I add instead, letting her huff and slam the door behind her as she leaves.
Rosmery turns to open the blinds, the first thing she does."I don't need anyone to think I'm one of those girls, so these will be ready every time we work together,"she says, stretching and bending slightly to reach the last bandage.
Leaning back in my chair, I take a good look at her for the first time. Her awful coat from this morning was obviously hiding her best assets. She dresses professionally, but that doesn't make her any less sexy—well, yes, sexy. A dark blue pencil skirt to the knee, paired with a pale blue blouse and nude patent leather high heels. From behind, she's definitely worth a look, especially at that angle. That ass... Oh my God!
As soon as she turns around, I take my time to observe the rest of her figure, which I hadn't paid much attention to before because of my anger. The blouse is obviously a little tight around her chest; her curves, in general, seem to fit together perfectly, even though her chest is a bit more pronounced. Since the cut of her clothing isn't tight or anything like that, there's still plenty to the imagination.
She's definitely not ugly, and I like that her face isn't covered in so much makeup. Unlike the others.
"I've finished checking myself, can we finally get to work?"she interrupts my thoughts.
"I wasn't looking at you. I was just lost in thought, wondering where Trish was with that coffee.""Of course I was looking at her, and I have no idea why. This is work, and aside from what happened with Trish today, I don't mix business and pleasure. Not anymore. It only brings me trouble."
Her eyes roll back:"Sure,"is all she says. God, this girl's attitude is driving me crazy.
"You'd better control that loose mouth and your whole attitude, or you won't be here for long,"I warn her.
"Well, you'd better fire me now, since I'm not going to change a thing. This is what got me here. You'd better judge my work, or you'll miss out. Don't think you intimidate me just because you're rich and my boss. I'm not like the others you know, who bow down to you. If you want my respect, you have to earn it."
If my jaw weren't clenched right now, I think it would have fallen off when I said these words.
"Your rich dad isn't going to support you in this job, if that's what makes you so sure you can act like a bitch."
A snort escapes her before she clenches her jaw, and I see the fire in her eyes flare again, just like before in our meeting room. I know she's about to explode, and I lean back, curious to see what will happen. His palms slam down on my desk; he's now standing directly in front of me.
Listen here, you piece of shit, I don't need you to treat me like garbage or talk about things you know nothing about. I may be young, but I know exactly what I'm doing, and frankly, your company isn't the only one willing to hire me. So if you intend to insult me any further, I'm out of here. Or you could try behaving like a decent person, for once, and start working with me. How about that?
Her voice sounds tense, and I can tell she's struggling to hold back from shouting. Although I don't know if that kind of voice will scare me even more. It's not the typical high-pitched voice you hear from an angry woman; it's more... I don't know how to describe it.
A bit like when you're a kid and you get into terrible trouble, expecting your parents to yell at you, but they don't, and it scares you even more. Yeah, that's the kind of voice I'm hearing right now. A wild, unpredictable storm is brewing behind it, and for some reason, I feel like I want to feed it instead of heeding its warning. Anyway, it wouldn't just go away like that; nobody does that.
"Look who's talking about insulting people. You called me a faggot and a piece of shit."I defend myself even though I know I started it and that my words could have been a little worse, maybe. But I'm their damn boss, damn it.
We stared at each other for a moment. She picked up the folder that was already on the table, straightened her back before speaking."Well, I'd say it was a pleasure meeting you, but I don't like to lie."With that, she turned and walked straight out of my office door.
Did she really just quit her job? I'm somewhere between thrilled and stunned. I have to admit, this girl has guts I've never seen in any of the guys who work here. People never talk to me; it's like I said everyone else would probably bow down to me. Being in complete control is everything to me. And Rosmery is absolutely uncontrollable; I just can't handle it.
But before I know it, I'm running toward the elevator. Just as the door is about to close, I stick my foot in the small gap, causing the doors to swing open. What the hell am I doing here?
Surprised, she looks at me; her breathing is rapid, obviously, trying to catch her breath. As soon as I walk in, I feel the air is thick with just the two of us. Watching her chest rise and fall doesn't exactly help. What the hell?
"Was there any reason you had to get on the same elevator as me? Surely one later would have been enough, especially since this one goes to the parking level."She closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose."What a waste of time!"I hear her mutter under her breath; she probably didn't think I was noticing.
Why did I run after her? I've never done this before, and I've certainly never done what I'm doing now. After clearing my throat, I look at her and begin to speak:"you've one day to prove to me that you're worth this job before I fire you."
"Excuse me, you can't fire me, if you haven't noticed I'm simply resigning,"she laughs loudly. She definitely has an impressive laugh, even if it's at my expense right now.
"Well, then I've hired you again,"which only makes her laugh even harder.
You know I'd have to accept the offer. Why on earth should I do it right after quitting? I gave you the choice in your office, you made your decision, and I made mine.
When we got to her floor, we both got off the elevator. This girl is driving me crazy, but I'm certainly not going to let her leave just like that; that means she's in control. No, I won't allow it, no matter how crazy she's. If anything, I'll be the one to fire her.
Look, maybe we both got off to a bad start today. How about we try again sometime? Show me you're worth working for, and I'll try to treat you with a little more respect.
"A little more?"
