Chapter: 2

While I make my way down the hallway to tidy up the rooms; The first floor contain the omegas, the second floor is for the warriors and their families, the third floor, the Beta, and his family, and the fourth floor is for the Alpha and his family. By the time I finish cleaning the 25 bedrooms in the house alone, my body is completely numb. The lack of food is another problem that experience due to Alpha and Beta's pack-related obligations. Luna now has an opportunity to punish me. Out of nowhere, I was forced to imitate a dog on a leash by walking and barking. The most terrible part was having to eat any food that was thrown on the floor by a pack member, regardless of how repulsive it was.

Once I finished cleaning the last room; I headed out of the room, into the hallway. As I started walking, I looked down and wasn't paying attention, resulting in me bumping into a wall. Upon returning, I realized it wasn't a wall. I glanced up and saw Luther, the future Beta, standing before me. Luther is extremely attractive; He stood out 6’5 tan skin, long sandy blond hair in a messy bun. Luther's physique was God-like, complemented by his light green eyes. He was more muscular than Milo. Unlike the rest of the pack, Luther is the only one who treats me nicely, and we share a secret friendship. There was a period when Luther and I were considering being intimate. Since we are not mates, I knew it wouldn't be right. There was someone waiting for him, and I didn't want to be the reason they were torn apart. I don't want to interfere with a mate bond, as it would disrupt the moon goddess's plan.

“Luther asks “Winter how they're feeling?”

“I'm fine, Luther, just worn out from tidying up the last room. What up with you?”

"Looking for Milo, we were supposed to go hang out."

“I ran into him a couple of hours ago. He went downstairs with some girl”.

Luther lets out a chuckle. “Milo has always been quite popular with the ladies, as you know”

"Yeah, no doubt about it," we head towards the stairs. Luther took note of the way I walked. Just as I was about to, I was lifted up in Luther arms, bridal style. In that moment, I found myself captivated by Luther's mesmerizing green eyes. The moon goddess understood my desire for this man, but I couldn't be with him.

"Luther, what's are you doing”

“Can you tell? I’m carrying you downstairs,” Luther says.

Luther, that's really kind of you. Let me go before anyone, including your mother, sees us.

"It's irrelevant to me what others think about Winter."

I nodded at him and then rested my head on his chest. I found myself being the center of everyone's attention; I cannot push Luther away because he is much stronger than I am. After making it to the first floor, we were met with a wave of stares.

"Luther, what in the world do you think you're doing?" the voice asks.

When Luther turned to face the voice, he saw his mother standing up, her fist clenched, giving me a glare filled with malice. A Beta lady named Tena, with medium built, stood at approximately 5'6" and had shoulder-length red hair, freckles on her face, and a brown complexion. Beta Tena's natural beauty and poise make her stand out to me. However, she would rather lower herself to Luna Stella's level.

"Mother, what is it? Luther inquires.

"Why are you carrying that worthless person in your arms?"

“Due to her workload, her legs gave out and I'm now helping her to her room.”

Beta Tena fires back, "Absolutely not, drop that piece of shit immediately! She is a whore who is trying to trap you"

"Mom, how is that possible? Not once does she try to establish a move on me. Additionally, she has been given a name it’s Winter”

“It doesn't matter to me, even if her name happened to be Summer. Put her down now," Beta Tena shouts forcefully.

"If I do not, what actions do you plan to take? Luther yells in reply.

“Boy, how dare you show me such disrespect? Keep in mind that I am your mother and I require respect from you.

"I'll provide it once you demonstrate it to me. I have the right to choose whether or not I want to be friends with Winter, and nobody else can influence that. Luther expressed his anger.

While Luther's mother and him argued, I remained in his embrace. The argument had become so intense that onlookers, including Luna, Milo, and his one-night stand, gathered around us. The fight became unbearable for me I shouted, “Put me down” Silence filled the room as all eyes turned towards me. In his eyes, I saw a mix of confusion and pity. It was clear that he felt sympathy for me. He is standing up for me, and I'm grateful for his support because nobody has ever defended me before.

“Luther, it’s ok; you can put me down, I can walk the rest of the way,” I assure him.

“Winter, your legs still seem to lack strength. Luther sighs, expressing concern and saying, "You don't have to pretend to be tough around me."

“I wanted the argument to end as it was getting worse, and I don't want to interfere in your relationship with your mother. Just release me, I'll be fine.”

Luther parted his lips. Just as he was about to speak, he closed his mouth, nodded, and gently set me down. In an instant, I move past Luna, Milo, and a one-night stand. Just as I was about to head to the kitchen, someone suddenly grabbed my hand. When I turned around, I saw Milo standing there.

“What do you want, Milo?” I expressed my anger.

Milo gave a sinister smirk and said, "All I had to do was carry you to have my way with you. I should have done it a long time ago."

“You are a despicable human being”
