Chapter 2

Breen

I smiled foolishly staring at the annoyed face of my cousin, Brooke Brinkley, on the screen of my phone. Cctv's and other controls in my mansion were connected in it.

I could say my cousin's furious just looking at her beautiful face. There's nothing new with Brooke and so is me. Maybe it’s in our genes.

Before Brooke could open the door, I opened it for her using my phone's control. Brooke came inside and oh boy she's really mad. It's like she's going to kill a person. I put the phone in my pocket. Brooke look straight in Kristof's direction.

Kristof's gay and he's the one I ordered to scare my cousin earlier on. I haven't seen Brooke for some time because she's always busy with her company. We get along somehow because we have the same habit but these past few months. We don't see each other anymore.

I only thought of it earlier because it's my birthday so I asked Kristof to call Brooke and pretend he kidnapped me and would kill me if she didn't come on time. I knew it was crazy but I also knew Brooke would bite my bait.

"Where is she?!" Brooke's voice echoed in my mansion.

I smirked. Fierce as ever.

She's really mad.

"Looking for me?" I appeared where Brooke could see me from above because I'm on the second floor.

Brooke frowned as she looked up to me.

"What's the meaning of this, Breen?!" And Brooke's impatient just like me.

I raised an eyebrow as I looked straight into her fiery eyes.

"Tell me what should I suppose to do if I couldn't hang out with you. You're always busy with your company, Brooke. This is the only way for you to come here and visit me." I exclaimed.

Brooke frowned and before she could think about it. I already had that smirked plastered on my face.

"You trick me!" She said while her cheeks and ears were red. She's angry.

My brows rose even higher and my eyes narrowed at her.

I'm not afraid of Brooke Brinkley because simply, I am Breen Brinkley.

"Wouldn't you greet me a happy birthday, Brooke?" I flashed her my evil smile making her even more furious.

"Fuck you, Breen!"

"Oh." I simply point her. "Watch your mouth. You're inside my lair, Brooke."

She looked at me intently before angrily turning her attention to my friend who was sitting complacently on the couch. My cousin walked towards him and suddenly kicked his leg so hard.

Ouch! Brooke's on her heels.

"Damn that hurts woman!" Even if Kristof's a gay, he still wear men's clothes and act like a man. He could use his normal baritone voice which he uses now and earlier when he scared Brooke while talking to him on the cellphone but he was usually more feminine to speak than me. I'm not disgusted about the lgbt because Kristof were always there since they became playmates and classmates in elementary. Brooke went to another school so he was the only one who always defend me. He respect me so I'm giving back that respect to him and the lgbt community.

"You're really such a bitch, Breen!" Annoyed and angry she shouted at me while choking me when she had the chance to get a hold of me.

"And you're not?!" I shouted it too. "It's my birthday yet you forget about it just because your company matters to you more than me. I'm your only cousin!"

Because I'm frustrated. I fought back and we both fell on the carpeted floor.

"Ouch! You witch! Let go of me!"

"Let go of me too!" It wasn't good to see us both in this situation but we were both dominant and didn't know how to accept defeat.

"Ok, that's enough." Kristof pleaded to us but his voice sounded like a woman. I wanted to smack his forehead about him forgetting about our deal, pretending to be a straight guy just for now.

I dont forget that my cousin doesn't like gays or any part of lgbt. I dont want my cousin Brooke to humiliate my friend so its one of the main reason why Brooke never met Kristof yet. But Kristof knew about my only cousin because of my stories and pictures of Brooke on my phone.

Brooke immediately release me when Kristof grabbed her to pull her away from me and Brooke looked at my friend.

"Don't touch me!" Brooke shouted at Kristof pushing his hands away. "I hate any person that's part of the lgbt community!"

And there, she said it.

Brooke and I stood together and arrange the clothes she was wearing. She did the same thing to me.

I was worried that Kristof might be offended by Brooke's words but my friend just raise an eyebrow at my furious cousin.

"And you think they like you?" He rolls his eyes before it returns to sitting as if nothing had happened. "I could handle you just like how I handled your cousin."

It startled me. Typical Kristof. I mouthed him thanks. Kristof was right, he handled me so he could handle Brooke as well.

"Well, I don't care!" Brooke snapped.

I grab her hand and walk towards my mini bar. I let go of her and let her sit while I opened a bottle of wine and poured my cousin's goblet. I gave it to her and she accepted it. I sat down on the stool next to her and face her while sipping the wine that's in my goblet.

My cousin hasn't change. She became worst because I heard she's ruthless and cunning. Brooke became one of the most famous and powerful, dominant businesswoman in the industry she's into it.

"Happy birthday, Breen." Its a simple greeting from her but that was enough to melt my heart.

I shrugged like I wasn't affected. My cousin's not that sweet person and so am I. "Thanks Brooke. So what's up?"

"I'm doing ok. What about you?" I fix my hair so she could fix her own as well.

"I left Dad." My Dad Brion and Brooke’s Dad Brian are twins. The two also have the same habit. To control me and Brooke in our lives especially the choices we make.

I had enough of the arguments we always had. I always show my Dad my achievements even if my Dad doesn't like my choices. I excelled in academics before and now in my career.

"We fought again because of my Profession."

"That was before." Brooke took a sip.

"Yes but I moved to the school I'm teaching now. I don't want to stay in the same house with him so I move out. I bought this land before. It was like a mini resort. I've been planning this for a long time. I also built a mansion so incase I need to leave. I have a perfect peaceful place to stay. Well, I used to come here before and sleep here when Dad and I were fighting but those times I haven't decided yet to leave because it's far away from the old school I go to. I just don't know that it will be too early because I move again and it's not that bad because it's just down the road. "

"For how long will you stay here?" She asked.

"For good." I answered without hesitation.

"Sound like a plan."

"It is planned."

Brooke frowned. She knew, something wasn't right. Brooke's not good with alcohol or any wine.

"How's your love life?" I dare asked even if I already knew the answer.

She coughed at the wine she drink. "There's only life but theres no such thing or space for love."

"Same here, Brooke." I drink my wine staring cold at her. "I don't like the idea of falling inlove. I don't want to fall in love."
