CHAPTER 16 :

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on, our little life is rounded with a sleep.” — The Tempest (Act IV, Scene I)

After that explicitly exposing verbal fight, Klein found himself walking home after having gone wandering for what may be hours. What else could possibly go wrong? Once he was infront of his house, he strode in through the foyer, opening the front door. It was only eleven in the morning. And, he wasn’t exactly in the mood to socialize. It was wrong of him to shout out the fact that he found his wife having his best friend's dick in her mouth when he came in from work.

True, he did cheat on her too, but that was after she'd done her part. Plus, his mind was already in a haze due to over consumption of booze when he slept with that guy he didn’t even remember now. Not to mention that his wife threw the divorce papers at his face when he was in hospital due to a terrible accident, which severely damaged some bones in his body.

Elena did ruin him, but he healed himself over the course of time. But, Xavier? He savaged him beyond recognition. Almost three years after his marriage failed, he hadn’t felt anything about anyone except the mysterious Winter. Who turned out to be using him.

“Good riddance.” He mumbled, speaking to himself, scoffing. He was naïve enough to do the same mistake again. Thank god that he had his Sundays off, except if there was an emergency at hand, ofcourse. He barged in his room, only to find a young man lounged on his sofa. Xavier. Think of the devil.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Jase sneered, half hoping that the other man would give some reaction. Good or bad, but anything. He was not exactly a patient man, and he wasn’t in the mood to chat. Not especially after how Winter treated him yesterday.

“Jase.” He stated, not giving any expression at all. His leg was carelessly dangling over the other, his hair combed and slicked back, his white shirt flaunting his tight muscles, and a formal black trouser which hugged his legs. Jase cursed under his breath, steadying himself. How could he effortlessly look so damn ethereal?

“I asked what the fuck are you doing in my house. And how the fuck did you get my keys?” His eyes furrowed them, and his mouth pressed in a hard line. The flashbacks of yesterday’s episode formed a sheer distaste in his mouth.

“Your ex wife gave me the duplicate key she had. But I didn’t come here to argue with you, Jase.” He replied, standing up, shoving his hands in his trouser pockets. The shirt material creased against his muscles, enhancing his figure. The fact that Klein found him attractive as hell was pissing him off.

Winter stepped closer to Klein, his breath stroking the man's neck. Winter had an aura of mystery and dominance to him which Klein couldn’t quite put his finger at. What was ridiculous is, Elena gave her spare key to Winter. Could she be anymore self centred and careless?

Klein swallowed. He couldn’t even throw the man out of his house, even though he wanted to. Winter cocked his head to one side, his eyes drinking in the sight of the man standing infront of him. While, Jase couldn’t help but inhale the musky smell of Winter's outfit. The smell was sweet, but not that sweet. It seemed to be of almonds, but it wasn’t even that.

Winter's hair fell to the other side of his face, making his jawline even more sharp than it actually is. And his lips — those were sculptor perfect. No sloppy lines, no blemishes, rather all cut with precision. First few buttons of his shirt were open, giving way to his toned chest. For a second, all Klein wanted to do was rip off his clothes, but he had the control, yet.

Winter inched closer to him, their lips only an inch apart, as he ran his tongue over his mouth. “I have put a spare copy of my novel on your bed. Read it. My editors say it will need a tinge of editing with the murder scene of the cop. Tell me what you think about it. The protagonist is highly inspired from your life and character, so it’ll be only fair if you give it a reading. I’ll fix it soon enough, though.” His brilliant blue eyes landed on Klein's, who was having a hard time breathing. Murder scene of the cop? That required editing? What if Winter really was…? No, if he would've been what cops really thought, Jase would've been dead, wouldn’t he be? With that, he was out of the door. Jase heaved a sigh of relief. That man did things to him. His phone rang, and he picked it up.

“I'm so sorry, Klein, but you are to be held in custody. Your ex wife, Elena has been murdered.”

(A/N : Cliffhanger trouble, again? Well, Elena is dead, and with that, another person goes down. Who do you think is behind it? Don't ask me lmao.

Wash your hands, wear masks and don't go outside unless the requirement is grave. Be safe, keep everyone safe. I love you all! Te amo
