Chapter 7: Meeting Ace's Parents
Song Recommendation: Love 119 By Riize
“Alex, this room is a mess, how did it come to this?” Ivy asked with an exasperated look on her face.
The culprit of the state of the room was seated on the bed, holding a vase. His eyes were dangerously red, and he emanated a severe aura, prompting people to subconsciously stay away from him.
“Did you see the news?” He asked in a low, dangerous tone.
Ivy sighed. As expected, it was about the news.
“Yes I have, is this the reason for your anger?” She questioned with her hands folded. She knew that her question was going to annoy him, but she was not bothered.
From what she saw, he was acting like a stuck-up, obsessive ex, and it was more funny when it was obvious he did not like Mabel.
“What sort of question is that?” Alex finally looked up to her, vexed by the question she asked.
She calmly shrugged her shoulders, as she wondered how she was to explain it to him.
“This is the truth, Mabel is getting married to your brother, there is nothing you can do about it,” Ivy calmly remarked, and she did not bother to mince her words.
“You should remain quiet if you have nothing to say,” Alex growled.
But Ivy was not bothered by his growl, instead she was determined to get his head straight.
“Alex, no matter how you deny it, the truth is glaring for all to see, you have no chance with Mabel, it is best to think of a new plan if you really want Mabel's wealth,” Ivy explained to him, the truth hitting him hard.
He swallowed, the vase falling to the floor, and shattering among the many shattered pieces.
“Now that you have said it, we should be thinking of ways to get her wealth,” Alex mumbled, and Ivy nodded, happy that she did not need to continually explain it to him.
“What do you plan to do now?” Ivy asked, her nose scrunched due to how messy the room was. She was not going to clean the room, he was going to do it himself. She would rather not be treated as a maid.
“Let's wait for the wedding, it is in a week's time, but I am still bothered, if you did not tell her about our affair, how did she find out about the relationship? It is still baffling to me,” Alex was not willing to let go of the fact that his plans were unable to materialize.
“Perhaps, she has had doubts about it, we cannot be sure, for now, we do not need to be speculating on why she broke up with you, what we need to do now is to make plans,
From what I know about Mabel, she is a vengeful person, and must be planning something, getting married to your brother might be the beginning of her plans,” it was funny how Ivy was able to perfectly analyze Mabel's next move. This was because Ivy knew a lot about Mabel.
“What do you suggest we do?” Alex subconsciously decided to listen to Ivy.
“For now, we wait, we would wait, we have to wait for Mabel to attack,” Ivy replied, her eyes revealing a profound malevolent look.
“Okay, I will listen to whatever you have to say, anything you decide, I will follow,” Alex was like a puppy, eager to please his master.
Ivy smirked, seeing his subservient nature. This was what she needed. She had listened to him for a long time, it was time for a change, and she would not let him control her anymore.
“The state of your room is too awful, why don't you take care of it while I make something for us to have?” Ivy suggested, and he nodded, agreeing to it.
Meanwhile, Mabel and Ace finally completed their lunch date, and Ace dropped her off at home.
“Why don't you say hello to my parents?” Mabel asked while still in the car.
Ace stared at her for a while, his gaze was intense, and it caused Mabel to squirm under it.
“Why are you staring at me that way? Do I have something on my face?” She checked her face with an awkward posture.
“No you don't, fine, let me meet with your parents,” he agreed, and she smiled.
What the couple did not expect was that Ace's parents would already be present in the mansion.
Mabel and Ace walked into the mansion, surprised by the additional people in the room.
Mabel did not recognize them, but Ace did.
“Mom, dad, you are here,” Ace remarked, gaining their attention.
“Oh Ace, you are both back, we thought you would take a while, we were actually planning for the wedding,” Trinity, Ace's mother, had a smile on her face as she beckoned for them to come in.
They both walked in, and had their seats, both of their eyes darting to their parents.
“Mabel, you do not have any idea how happy I was when I heard you called off your marriage with Alex, he truly doesn't deserve you,” Trinity spoke as a long sigh escaped her lips, she did not care that her husband who happened to be Alex's father was also seated beside her.
Well, Aiden Cromwell had never had high regard for the son who came in existence as a result of a mistake.
“Mrs. Cromwell, I guess I was blind to have chosen Alex, it did not help that he cheated on me, and aimed to take my company, thankfully, I was able to find out in time, and avoid the disaster,” Mabel spoke, wiping the small tears which threatened to drop from her eyes.
This act of hers was to gain sympathy from the elders, and it worked perfectly.
Ace, who was well aware of the truth, could only shake his head, feeling that she was a talented actress. She was able to elicit emotions from the elders without even trying.
He had to give it to her, and he was eagerly awaiting to see how she was going to take care of Alex and Ivy.
'It seems the days ahead in New York won't be peaceful, but filled with drama, I am excited for it,' Ace mused to himself, he was in an excellent mood.
“Forget about all that, that is an old memory, we do not need to bother about the past, we should only look forward to the future from now on,” Melanie spoke up when she noticed that the ladies were already getting emotional.
“Mabel, if you need anything, or if anyone is giving you a difficult time, you can always come to me, consider me as your father, is that fine with you?” Aiden spoke up for the first time, his words were shocking to Mabel who nodded numbly.
“I would have suggested we have lunch, but they are just returning from a lunch date, how about we finalize a date for the wedding, and then have dinner?” Melanie suggested, and they all agreed to it, finding her suggestion to be okay.
