Paintball duty
“Are you guys sure about this?” Daphne asked with wide eyes.
“Yeah, don’t worry. We are here to protect you.” Jaylin said slipping on her mask and checking her paintball gun. “Just point your gun at a player and shoot. Just be careful the trigger is very sensitive.”
“Yeah, if you shoot me. Just know, I will shoot you.” Cam said slipping on her mask and motioned for us to follow.
“Hey, come on. It is not that bad.” I told her. “I have never done anything like this.” She admitted, following us.
“Well, welcome to the funhouse.”
“Okay, so last time I heard we are playing against another group.” Jaylin informed us. “Like a battle off?” Camille asked slipping on her gear and Jaylin nodded. “Well, that can be fun.” I said smirking and we fist pumped. We turned to Daphne that looked as if we are losing our minds.
“What is a battle off? It sounds like a computer game” She said confused. “It means we are playing against another team, you need to get the other teams flag as yours. But when you get shot you are out. The last man standing with their flag that group wins” She nodded and smiled. “Seems like fun.” She said and we nodded. “Hell yeah.” We said together making our way. We started walking towards the field; I was still slipping on my mask when I saw a familiar face. Brandon was here with his boys and it looked like we were playing against them. Well, it just got interesting.
“Okay, are you girls ready?” I asked and they nodded. “Hell yeah.” Cam yelled. Jaylin turned to Daphne. “Now don’t scream like a girl” She winked at Daphne. Daphne just huffed and rolled her eyes. “You might just underestimate me.” Daphne said walking off. They turned to me. “What can I say? She is no nerd, she is pretty cool” Jaylin nodded. “Reminds me off Ruby” She commented before we are called to play.
We were told how the game worked and then we were sent off into the game. The whistle was blown and then we were off. Jaylin immediately started running for the flag, while Camille started shooting the people going for Jaylin. I took cover and backed up Camille and Jaylin, I had no idea where Daphne was she just ran off as the whistle went off. We started running to where Jaylin disappeared to; I was walking next to Cam when we heard voices. I turned to her and we ducked for cover, we lifted our heads slightly and saw it was the guys and they were looking for us. “I wish we had walkie talkies” Camille grumbled. “As if Jay would answer hers” Camille snorted and I smiled.
“Back me up.” I said and she nodded. I stood up and fired a shot on the guys back; the other one turned around but Cam shot him. We ran off searching for Jaylin. “Where can that pansy be?” Camille growled and I shook my head. “If she heard you now, she would have shot you until you bleed from the paintballs.” I said. “You got that right” We heard a voice from behind us, we whirled around and she stood with the flags in her hands and with Daphne on her side. We heard footsteps and then shots started to fire, I tackled Daphne to the ground Cam and Jay shot them.
I pushed Daphne up and we started to run, Jay and Cam followed. “We need a plan Jay” Cam cried out as a shot just missed her. “I can’t multitask” Jay bit back. Cam snorted. “You sound like a man” I commented laughing. We got to a bush and hid behind it. We heard from them soon after. “Fuck these guys are good.” Jay said and I rolled my eyes. “Maybe they are warriors” She gave me a look and I shut up. “We need a diversion,” Cam said and we glared at her. “Then you can start at any moment.” Jay said. “But I don’t want to die.” Cam said dramatic and I shook my head.
One guy spotted us and I shot him. “Run you dwarfs!” I said and they ran. Daphne got shot. “My god she gave her life to save us.” Cam said and I rolled my eyes. “What are we in the army now?” I asked sarcastic making Jaylin laugh. “I will shoot you.” Cam said and I stuck out my tongue. “I will shoot your tongue as well don’t try me kid” I glared at her and she laughed. “I am not a k...” I couldn’t finish as she got hit in the neck, she grumbled shooting the guy straight in the nuts. “Fuck Cam, the poor guy” Jaylin said.
“Poor guy my ass, he shot me in the fucking neck” She hissed taking off her mask. “Aw the poor baby” I cooed and she glared at me. “I will fucking shoot you and not any once.” She said walking off pointing her paintball gun at me. Jaylin and I walked off. I saw movement and stopped Jaylin. She turned around and stood with her back against mine. “We are surrounded.” She said and I rolled my eyes. “We will not go without a fight no soldier left behind.” I said with a fake salute and dramatic voice. “Cam is rubbing off on you.” Jaylin grumbled.
“I can at save least your ass.” I said shooting the one guy. “Run you pansy!” I yelled and she glared at me. She got shot in the leg, she turned around shooting the guy on the ass and then on the back making him yelp.“Shit!” I hissed diving down on my chest. I landed hard on my chest and the worst part it didn’t stop there as I landed on a damn slop and I was sliding down and to make matters worse I was still being chased. I landed on my back and lifted my paintball gun shooting the person straight in the chest making them lose their balance. Okay, one left, you can do this. I told myself standing up, I grabbed our flag and stopped as I saw the person I shot had their flag I smirked as he handed me the flag.
I was just a few feet away from where I fell when a shot was fired and it just missed me, I yelped and started to run for cover. I hid behind the tree and saw the person, I lifted my paintball gun and sneak on the guy. I stepped on a branch and the person whirled around, I ducked for cover. I was laying on my chest, crawling like an army person will do on the battlefield. I saw the person’s feet and shot them, the guy jumped about a foot high letting out a yelp and a cry at the same time. I let out a cheer and the guy turned towards me. I pushed myself up and winched as I pushed on my leg, damn I hurt myself with the dive.
We walked back to where the others were waiting for us; I lifted the flags once I saw the girls who were cheering me on. I saw Brandon’s friends and himself looking at them for the first time and then his head whipped my way with a confused expression making me laugh. I slipped off my helmet and his eyes went wider as they already were and his mouth was hanging wide open as he saw me. I was hopping on my one leg as the other one was sore, Jaylin helped me as she got to me she lifted me up onto the table. “What do you say now bitches?” I said waving the flags in their faces.
I took off my gear and took a look at my knee. “Damn it looks bad. “I said with a sigh. “Do you also crawl on your knees like a soldier on the field?” A deep voice asked. “Nah I don’t have people trying to shoot me with paintballs.”
He looked at my bruised knee. “That looks like it could hurt.” He said walking up to me. “Nothing I can’t handle.” I told him.
“I don’t need a reminder.” He said with the side of his lips tilting up as he crouched down in front of me, analyzing my knee. I handed him the wipes they gave me and watched him clean my bruised knee.
I started to giggle as I saw he was the one Camille shot between the nuts. He followed my eyes and rolled his eyes. “Cam got you good” I said chuckling. “She cheated.” He said. “Na ah pretty boy, you got shot by your poor defense skills” Cam said walking towards us with cold drink and food.
“How’s the neck?” He asked her and she smiled at him. “Better than your unfertilized balls” She said handing me my cold drink.
“How’s the knee?” She asked looking at me with a knowing smile. She wanted to know who he was and what he was to me. “This is Brandon, we go to the same school.” I told her who just nodded. “I’m Camille.” She said holding out her hand to him. “And that is Jaylin.” She said pointing her finger at Jaylin who was talking to Daphne.
“And we are Sasha’s friends.” Brandon nodded shaking her hand but she didn’t let go of him liked he hope. “And we care for her, so be sure pretty boy. We got her covered.” He just looked at her once she left his hand and walked off to Jaylin. If that wasn’t a threat then I don’t know what it was.
