Prologue

Luke De Leon took a very deep breath before entering the office of his dad. He slowly opened the door of his office and sat on the chair facing his dad. His dad is busy. Alfredo lifts his head and speaks to him slowly.

"Why are you here?" He asked his son. Luke breathes deeply before he speaks to his dad.

"I came here in your office to talk about the agreement we had," he answered. Luke met his eyes.

Alfredo shook his head and said, "Have you made up your mind, huh? Is your decision final?"

"Yes, dad. My decision is final. I'll marry her," he said. "I know this is the best thing to do to make things right." His face lit up as he hears his son pronouncement towards him.

"Thank you for your help, Luke," Alfredo told his son.

"You're always welcome, dad. I'm always here to help you," he said.

"I know. And you'll sacrifice yourself for me," Alfredo said.

Luke rolls his eyes and let out a deep breath. "Dad, you're not alone too. As your son, I'm willing to do anything for you. I won't leave you, okay? I want to help you with that problem you had. I know you're innocent and you didn't kill her dad. He's your best friend, right? I know that you won't do it. I believe in your innocence. I believe the truth about you. You're innocent and there's no doubt about it. I know that there are people behind it. We really want to know them," Luke told his dad.

Luke believes that his dad is innocent. He didn't kill his best friend three years ago. He was only accused by those people who killed his best friend. Roberto San Jose is his best friend. He was found dead in the streets the same day they had spent time with each other. No one knows who killed his best friend. He had no enemies.

Robert has only one daughter named Nina. She's living alone in life when her beloved father died three years ago. Her mom was dead too. She had no parents left.

Nina was mad at him. She believes that he was the one who killed her father. Alfredo convinced her that he wasn't the one who did it. He'll never do it to his beloved best friend, but he was failing to believe her that he wasn't the one who killed her father.

Alfredo and his son wanted to help her know the truth. By marrying her, it'll be easy for them to help her know the truth and make things right.

Minutes had passed before he speaks to his son. Luke is right. He is innocent. He didn't kill his best friend. He wants to know who are those people who killed him.

Three years had passed, but the justice hasn't yet been served. He really wants to give his best friend justice on his death. But before that, his son needs to marry his best friend's daughter Nina San Jose.

"I'm innocent. I didn't kill my best friend. We are going to make things right. We're going to find those people behind my best friend's death. We're seeking for his justice, until now. Thank you so much for helping me, Luke. You're really my son who could help me no matter what happens," Alfredo told his son Luke who slowly smiles at him.

"You'll always welcome, dad. It's my responsibility as your son to help you. This is final and I'll marry her," Luke said confidently. Alfredo gave his son a tight hug before he leaves his office. Luke should go to his best friend's condo unit.

He arrived safely at the condo unit of his best friend John.

"How are you, bro?" John asked him as he sits on the couch. John gave him one bottle of cold beer. Luke accepts it and quickly opened it.

"Thanks, bro," he thanked him for giving one bottle of cold beer. "Well, I'm doing great." He smiled at his friend John who sits on the couch facing him.

"You're welcome, bro," he grins. "Anyway, I just want to ask about your plan."

Luke understood what his friend meant. He didn't ask questions, instead he answers it properly. John knows about their plans.

Luke sighed deeply.

"Before I visit you here in your condo unit, I went to the office of my dad and told him that my decision is final. I made up my mind, bro. I'll marry the woman we want to help know the truth. This is the only thing that we can do. We want to make things right, bro. And you know what, right?" Luke announced to his best friend John who shaking his forehead quickly.

"That's good to hear it from you, bro. You want to make things right and you're helping your dad to prove that he's innocent, but—"

"W-what? Can you please finish your sentence so I should know very clear?" Luke protested.

"But are you willing to sacrifice your love for the woman you love, huh? You'll marry the woman you don't love, right? I know that you love Jane, and it'll be hard for you to forget her. Are you going to forget her in your heart? Do you think it won't regret you in the end, bro?" John asked him.

Luke looked away from his best friend and took a very deep breath. John could feel his pain as he reminds him about it. He knows that there's nothing wrong with his questions because he really wants to know his best friend's reactions about the truth that he'll marry the woman he doesn't love.

"Bro, this is the only thing I can do to help my dad. Jane isn't yet saying yes to me. I love her, but I need to help my dad. If we're meant for each other, soon we'll meet again on the same road. I'll marry her if that's happening, bro," he said confusingly.

"So you mean, you'll leave Nina later, huh? Is your plan like that? You'll leave her if she knows the truth and prove that your dad is innocent, huh? You told me you'll marry her, right?" John asked him.

Luke took a very deep breath again. His best friend's questions are hard for him to answer, but he needs to answer him.

"I can't answer you well, but I have a plan for everything I want to have in the future. I love Jane and she'll always be the only woman in my heart, bro. For now, I need to do this mission to make things right and help my dad clean his name to those people who believed that he killed his own best friend three years ago. Love can wait, you know that, bro. My love can wait for her, but she needs to wait for me too," Luke told his best friend John whom nods forcibly.

"Okay, fine, bro. I respect your decision. I respect to your plan. All I have to say is good luck," John said, smiling at his best friend who started to drink the cold beer.

"Thank you so much, bro," he said as he smiles at him, too.

"Did you talk to that woman, huh?" John asked him.

"I talked to her once, but I'll talk to her again tomorrow, bro," Luke said slowly.

John nods quickly. "Good luck, bro. I'm wishing for the best. As your best friend, I'm always here for you no matter what happens. If you need me, don't hesitate to call me, bro. You know that."

"I know, bro. You're always there for me. Thank you for the love and friendship we had. You'll always be my best friend and no one can change it," Luke answered.

"Yeah, of course. Same to you, bro. Should I call you a hero now?" John said laughing.

He frowned. "Huh? Why? I'm not a hero, bro. I have no superpowers like those heroes who saved people who are in danger. I can't save people, but I can save—"

John chuckled. "Never mind about it, bro."

"Shut up, bro. I'm not a hero, okay?" Luke protested.

"I know. But you can be a hero of these two women—"

"Shut up! It's nonsense, bro. I have no time for that kind of silly joke," he said. John, his best friend laughed at him so hard. Luke ignored him and continued drinking the cold beer until he finishes it.
