Chapter 4: face to face with the monster

SARAH POV

It's been two weeks after camp, and I still had this strange man on my mind. I do have nightmares about him also and my camera still displays a strange number on the screen.

i was at my office trying to type my shocking experience for publication, but anytime I tried to, my computer seems to go off suddenly.

I was tired of the whole drama and this time, decided to put a call to the strange number on my camera screen

I excused myself from the office and went to the toilet for privacy; where I put a call to the number.

" Hello, can you hear me...." I said when someone picked up the call

There was silence*********

" Hello, answer me or I would end the call and won't call back again"

There was no response but as soon as I ended the call angrily a text message Immediately buzzed my phone

"Meet me at the spot y'all came for cmping by 6pm today"

What ? Wait a sec. Is he expecting me to come over there all alone, cause I'm already freaking out right now.

I immediately left the toilet and went back to my seat, picked my bag and ran off to my car, where I quickly dialled David's number.

"Hello babe, what's up ?"

"Hello David, thank goodness I got you on the phone. Where are you ? " I asked- breathing nervously.

" I'm at home babe, why ?" he asked but I didn't have time for stories.

" Okay am coming right away...."

I ended the call and was wondering if i should tell David about the text message I received or not. if I should tell him, he wouldn't agree to the idea of me going, but I will just be wise I tell him about it. Who knows maybe he could help out.

I drove through the highway and few minutes later, i arrived his house and met him in the sitting room

His reply made me realize the reason for his strange behavior.

" David, have you been drinking, cause you seem drunk right now ? " I asked, staring at him with my hands folded against my chest and he replied in a really crazy way.

" Shiiiii ". He put his finger on my lips. "All you need baby is a good sex to relax your nerves, I promise you will be fine after that " he said, acting tipsy

" This is serious, David. I......."

He cuts me with a kiss on my lips, and suddenly began undressing me. Even though I knew that wasn't what I wanted at the moment, I allowed him did whatever he was doing.

Hours later, i woke up to find david still sleeping next to me. I rushed to check the time which was already few minutes past 6pm

I called Natasha's phone while driving, at least, so she should have an idea of where I was heading, incase of an emergency, but she didn't pick up so I drove to the spot alone. I arrives at 6:45 pm, which was already 45 minutes past the time he told me to come.

I quickly alighted the car and walked to the spot where we camped and stood there waiting, but couldn't see the strange man.

Where the hell was he ? I turned around and couldn't find anyone.

Tried calling the line he used in sending me a message but it was not reachable so I sat on the spot in frustration as the day was getting dark already.

At exactly 7pm, i ran out of patience and was about to leave; feeling disappointed, when I heard someone called my name

I looked around in fear and finally spotted him standing far near the woods, and in a twinkle of an eye, he appeared in front me, almost scaring me to death.

"How did you do that ? are you a ghost or something ?," I asked him with my heart pounding. His face was covered with a red mask and he was still having the same horrible look that I saw the first day.

"Don't think you would he interested in knowing that," he replied calmly. Hos voice sounding so suiting that you wouldn't believe he was the same personal occupying same body.

" What are you and why did you call me here ? "

" Your bracelet. Who gave it to you ?" He stares at the bracelet and asked

" Oh this, " I looked at my hand and touched it.

"It's my father's, he gave it to me before he passed away".

" What's your father's name ?"

"He's Peter.... By the way, why are you asking ? " I asked.

" Nothing, just wanted to Know and that's all " he replied shortly.

" Ok then, why are you covering your face with a red scary mask, or do you have a scar that you don't want anyone to see ? Oh, or you are a monster or something ?,"

I was curious to know as I gaze at him, trying to see what he really looks like. His hands and legs seems human to me, but what about his face ? He might not be having a human face, right ?

" I would like to see your face now, please.... I wanna know who am talking too please,". I asked again when he didn't give a response, and he slowly took the mask off his face, which left my in awe

"Wow, Omg you are really good looking," I gaze at his golden eyes that sparks like fire and his beautiful long grey hair that falls on his body; Which I haven't seen with a guy before.

" Why have you been covering your face ? "

" It's for a purpose and please don't ask me what it is," he replied "Come with me I want to show you something,"

" What is it that you want to show me and where are you taking me to ? I don't even Know you or even your name so how can I trust you ? You might be a killer ". I replied, admiring hid sweet lips which were captivating

"My name is James and I am taking you to the place you first met me"

" You mean the cave? "

" Yes..... "

" What ? But why? I can't go in there, besides, am scared."

" Don't worry nothing will harm you if you are with me "

" If ??? Okay now listen up James, or what ever you call yourself. It's already late, and I don't know what a total stranger like you wanna do to me in a lonely dark cave. If this is what you actually called me here for then I think it's time to take my leave.". I replied him and turn to leave when he said something that caught my attention.

" What I want to show is is concerning your Dad," He said.

" What ? My father? ". I quickly turn to him

" Yes, your dad."

" But you don't know him or is this some kind of joke ? " I asked.

" Oh yeah, you think so ? well your dad died 3years ago with a wound on his chest. He was stabbed directly to the heart and bleeded to death. He told you guys not to take him to a hospital before he finally passed away, and when you guys went ahead to get an ambulance, you returned back only to discover his body was no where to be found.....

I was left in great shock, when he told me exactly what happened

" How did you know all these. Who are you...? ". My mouth opened in shock and I became even more uncomfortable than I was when I arrived.

"If you wanna know how I know all these, then follow me to the cave. your dad gave me something special to give you before he died" James replied

" Who are you to him and how did you know him ?" I sounded suspicious amidst the surprise.

" That doesn't really matter now, what matters is what he left for you. Are you ready to follow me or would you prefer me leaving ?you might not get the opportunity to see me again you know? ". He sounded so serious and I could tell he wasn't joking when he talked about leaving me.

" I will follow you then, let's go. ...."

i agreed after much hesitation and we both walked in the dark woods, heading to the cave
