PROLOGUE

Vacation time means staying in my room for the entire day just chilling – maybe watching movies or series, reading books, or scrolling through my social media accounts if I really don't have anything to do. Good thing that I found a new Korean drama for me to watch. It's nearly evening and I have been stuck in my room, watching it the whole day. My only break for today is when I was called to eat a while ago for lunch and when I went to the restroom.

I paused the series that I’m watching when I heard a knock on my door. I immediately stood up from my bed to check who it was and saw our butler.

“Young master, your dad is calling you in his office,” he informed me.

“Okay. I’m coming,” I answered and went back on my bed to turn off my laptop before going to my dad’s office.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a serious talk because he only calls me in his office whenever it is something serious. Right now, I can’t think of anything for us to talk about because the academic year hasn’t started yet and our businesses are all doing good so I can’t help but wonder what else is that serious for us to talk about in his office.

Upon reaching his office, I immediately greeted him so that he’ll notice my presence. "Good evening, dad!”

He stopped what he is currently doing and put his attention on me.

“Good evening, Hans,” he greeted me back with a smile – a sign that it is going to be a positive talk. I sighed in relief before speaking again.

“Our butler said you wanted to see me,” I uttered.

He then looked at me straight in my eyes which could possibly mean that he is going to ask for a favour. The thought of it awakened my excitement me because I can sense that he is going to give me another challenge and I really love challenges in my life. After all, he is not going to ask for something that he knows that I won’t be able to pull off.

In fact, he challenged me before to take care of our hacienda in the province where I would have to live there to manage our business. I accepted it with all my heart even though I really do not have any idea on how it should go or on how will I start but good thing that it wasn't a hard task at all. I would be lying if I say that I didn’t enjoy that experience. I learned how to cook because I asked our helper to teach me how to. I learned how to do the chores because life in provinces is way too far from what I have in the city where I have it all easy. I learned a lot from that challenge which turned out to be one of my best experiences and thinking that I’m about to face another challenge from my dad is really exciting.

“My friends’ sons are all studying at Redskull University. You are all incoming fourth year high school students so we would like you to be together in the same university. You will live with them under the same dormitory and I’m doing this because I’m expecting you to change these guys,” he explained. I was actually fine with his first few statements but his last statement took back the excitement in me.

“Change them? Why?” I asked curiously. Why would I change some people who I really don’t have any idea about?

“Because you’re living with the four gangsters,” he answered.

“Gangsters? Isn’t it dangerous for me to live with some gangsters?” I asked hysterically. Based on the novels that I have read, gangsters have the coldest hearts that recognizes no one. I ain’t no Oleya Astrid or Athena Dizon to capture their hearts and make them change. What am I supposed to do?

“I know these guys when they were kids. I am confident to bring you in that place because I know that they’ll cause you no harm,” he defended them. How come I don’t have any idea who these guys are if my dad knows all of them?

“They were kids, dad! If they are gangsters now, how would I know if I’ll be alive for the next day?” I questioned him.

“Are you saying no?” He asked with a sad tone.

“No, dad. I’m just asking you how come you trusted those guys without really knowing them,” I clarified myself. I’m still in for the challenge but I want to make sure first that this is going to be safe for me.

“Because I know their parents and they need your help,” he answered. “You love challenges, don’t you? I’m giving you one right now. After all, they are all handsome guys so you’ll surely enjoy this one.”
