Chapter 35 Living with my Andre

The man's pupils narrowed, emitting a cold and piercing gaze directed at Alina. His tone carried a dangerous edge.

"So, you're behind the current public opinion as well?" his voice held a hint of menace.

Alina sneered.

It appeared that this time, his beloved Emma had truly wounded him. Otherwise, three years ago, even if he didn't love her, he wouldn't have conspired against her child.

"Don't act like I'm solely responsible. The messages being circulated barely scratch the surface of her wrongdoings."

What kind of life had Emma lived within the Hughes family? The entire Hughes family witnessed it, and many students were aware of it.

Yet, who could have imagined that she would repay her benefactors in such a manner?

Observing the man's sunken face, Alina softly laughed, "You're hurt, aren't you?"

If one truly loves someone, it doesn't matter what kind of person they are. Caleb and Emma are a prime example.

Meeting his eyes, Alina took a deep breath and continued, "Sign this, and tomorrow I'll release a statement proclaiming her to be a grateful woman with impeccable character."

The man stood up, his hands clenched into fists as he stared intently at Alina. The anger in his eyes appeared to be completely unbridled.

"You want to divorce me that badly?"

"Heh, don't tell me you don't want it either."

"Is it for Andre? It seems like you two have a great relationship."

"Caleb, have you lost your mind?"

"We are discussing our relationship now, don't bring Andre into this. Besides..." Alina paused, taking another breath.

"Besides what?" he demanded.

"The two of us will get divorced, and afterward, you can marry Emma, while I will be with Andre, and we will all find happiness. Got it?"

Her words thoroughly incensed Caleb.

Turning to leave, Caleb's voice resonated with anger as he reached the door. "Tell Andre to await the court summons."

Without waiting for her response, he forcefully slammed the door and departed.

For a long time, Alina struggled to process Caleb's final words.

Wasn't he here for Emma? Why did Andre have to be involved?

He portrayed it as if the rumors circulating outside were true, that her car accident wasn't an accident at all but a carefully orchestrated plot to elope for love.

Did they truly believe she possessed the skills to engineer a car accident that shut down Hasnan Bridge for a month?

These people held her in high regard, but didn't Caleb understand her true character? When Grandma passed away, she was genuinely concerned about Alina and entrusted her well-being to Grandpa Max. How could she possibly have schemed such a plot?

Lucy entered the room, taking note of Alina's infuriated expression. She spoke reassuringly, "Lady Alina, don't be angry."

"Lucy, don't you think he's being unreasonable?"

"Yes, yes, yes." Lucy's attitude had drastically changed. While in the past, she would have attempted to mediate between Alina and Caleb, now her support for Alina was unwavering.

Lucy couldn't help but express her sadness over Emma's heartless actions, wondering if Ms. Erica and Lady Leyla would still have sponsored her if they knew. Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke.

Alina, not wanting to dwell on Emma, comforted Lucy and urged her to go to bed. She had other matters to attend to and was too busy to focus on Caleb's thoughts. Ever since the deaths of her grandmother and mother three years ago, she had learned to rely on herself.

The public opinion surrounding Emma continued to intensify, with her being labeled a scumbag. Rumors circulated that even if Caleb and Alina divorced, Emma would never be approved as Caleb's wife and would forever remain his mistress in the eyes of Mrs. Collins.

Despite Emma's severe injuries, Caleb still refused to sign the papers to clear her name. It was during this time that Alina received a call from Andre.

"So you and Caleb are having a conflict?" Andre's voice sounded distressed over the phone.

Alina responded, "I don't have time to fight with him."

"Well, he's taking it out on me," Andre lamented.

"How is he venting?" Alina was taken aback by the revelation.

"He's suing me," Andre replied.

Alina exclaimed, "What on earth?"

"I received a court summons for being married to a married woman," Andre explained, revealing Caleb's madness.

Alina took a deep breath, trying to process the situation. She couldn't fathom how Caleb had time to dwell on her relationship with Andre when Emma had become the most hated person.

Without giving her a chance to respond, Andre continued, "He said he won't drop the case until he sees the divorce papers between you and me."

Alina was at a loss for words. She could almost imagine Andre's reaction upon hearing Caleb's demand.

"Andre, I understand that conflicts between Caleb and me are inevitable. Try not to get too involved with VIG, as the stock price will drop," Alina advised.

Andre sighed in frustration, "I got it. Don't blame me for not reminding you, but as the largest shareholder of VIG, it's your money that will be lost."

Alina's anger grew. If Caleb wanted to be with Emma, she would make it happen. Now that VIG had suffered such substantial losses, how would she be able to make up for it with the meager compensation he offered?
