Chapter 30 Wait for you in Civil Affairs Bureau
The following morning, after finishing her breakfast, Alina messaged Caleb, "I'll be waiting for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau. Come over after your meeting." Having been married for two years, Alina knew that Caleb's mornings were always occupied by a two-hour company meeting. Despite her message, Caleb didn't respond, which didn't surprise Alina. She was accustomed to his lack of communication.
On her way to the Civil Affairs Bureau, Stella called and spent ten minutes passionately berating Caleb and Emma over the phone. Then she turned her attention to Alina and said, "I just received a request from Caleb, asking me to cover another upcoming show for Emma."
"Emma is insufferable, and many shows will be useless. She's arrogant towards you, you know?" Stella's anger was palpable.
"It doesn't matter. I'm on my way to the Civil Affairs Bureau," Alina replied calmly, unfazed by Stella's rage. Her sole focus was on the impending divorce. Whether Caleb gave Emma a show or if Emma happened to be pregnant, it was of no concern to her.
"What for?" Stella inquired.
"To get a divorce," Alina replied softly. Stella's voice momentarily stiffened upon hearing Alina's words, then her exasperation turned into annoyance. "Are you giving Emma an opportunity?"
"If I were you, I would let that woman suffer for the rest of her life. She likes being a third party, so let her raise a third-party child and have third-party grandchildren. Let her be tangled up with third parties for generations to come."
Alina was speechless. Her life had already been consumed enough. She wasn't so cruel that she couldn't live with herself.
"But divorce is the best option. The president of VIG is respectable and has never been involved in any scandals," Alina explained, her head throbbing. Although Andre had managed to avoid scandals, Stella failed to see the countless messes that the Voyage International Group's PR team had cleaned up for him over the years.
"Send me the article after this," Alina requested. She wanted to expose how Emma had gained fame in the design world over the years. The support she received from the Hughes family and Caleb would be unveiled, showcasing Emma's ingratitude.
"Okay, I got it," Stella confirmed.
Emma was now pestering Caleb to organize a show for her and gain significant media coverage. It wasn't just about boosting her fame; it was also a deliberate attempt to provoke Alina. While Alina used to turn a blind eye, it didn't mean she would tolerate malicious suppression. Emma dared to belittle her in such a manner, so Alina decided to stand firm.
Alina waited for two hours under the scorching sun at the Civil Affairs Bureau, but Caleb was nowhere to be seen. Frustrated, she wanted to settle things before heading to Oklens. She messaged Caleb, "Mr. Collins, how should I interpret your behavior?" Even through the screen, Caleb could sense Alina's simmering anger.
The phone slammed hard on the office desk, causing the executives who were reporting their work to feel a sudden drop in pressure. The room fell silent, and those present broke into nervous sweats.
