Chapter 6

Camila p.o.v

A coffee shop.

That’s how we ended up in the coffee shop, with Luke teaching us lot more than just the initial book. He’s covering our entire project topic, and also went deeper as he explains about the graphs and diagrams.

Wow!

I knew he was the famous smart guy in the university for a reason, and I was able to confirm it.

Olivia and Ivy wouldn’t stop waggling their eyebrows at me suggestive, which I tried to ignore. I know they would throw questions at me immediately we are done.

But right now, they are concentrating on the lesson, which I’m grateful for. Group partners like them would push you more to do your best, rather than those that wouldn’t give a shit about the project.

“I will go get us drinks to relax.” Luke said standing you, we said our thanks.

Immediately he’s out, Olivia and Ivy brought their gaze to me.

“What?” I forged ignorance.

“Come on, we need to know more here. How do you get the campus king to come tutor us.” Olivia eagerly asked, both of them drew closer in anticipation.

One thing is for sure about my new friends, they love a good gist. And I don’t mind it, as much as they want to know any interesting going on in my life, they don’t hesitate to share theirs.

“Nothing serious, it was just a coincidence.” I said simply.

“Coincidence?” Olivia shrieked, while Ivy shook her head at her impatience.

“Spill.” Ivy probed, equally as excited as Olivia.

I mean, who wouldn’t be? Having the school student body president tutor you? And that too, he’s every girl’s dream.

“We just met today, well for me though. Since he already knew who I was.” I paused, they nod in understanding. “When I went to the librarian, she told me someone has already borrowed the book. And it happens to be Luke, and while I was researching for other alternative, he came to help me pick the book from the shelf. That’s when I knew he’s with the book I wanted.”

I finished speaking, and almost burst out laughing at the dreamy look they have on their face.

The look on their faces was priceless – a dreamy, far-off expression, as if they'd been transported to another world. Their eyes had glazed over, and lips were curled into a soft, gentle smile.

“Wow!” Ivy was first to break out of their spellbound, as they both sighed as if coming from cloud nine.

“It’s just like in the movies.” Olivia chirped. “I approve of you guys already.” Ivy and I laughed.

“Ladies, I’m back.” Luke comes back to our table struggling to balance the four drinks in his arms.

I hurriedly stood up to help him out, taking two from him. “Thanks, dear.” He smiled, I returned his smile.

I saw from the corner of my eye, Ivy mouthing dear. I grin but choose to ignore her.

“I thought that you would love hot chocolate.” He sits down, sliding a cup in front of me.

I stare at the hot chocolate with wonder, wondering how he managed to guess what I’d like.

“What about us? What did you get for us?” Ivy grin up at Luke teasingly. Luke chuckled lightly, and proceeded to sliding the remaining two cup in front of them.

“I also bought hot chocolate for you, ladies.”

So, he didn’t just get it for me after all, he might have assumed it’s a ladies preference.

Luke’s gaze darts to John who was busy slurping on his coffee at another table in the corner of the room, whose eyes are darting around through shop.

Bingo.

I didn’t know he had to follow us to the coffee shop, and also making his presence known. Not even bothering to conceal his intentions.

“Is he your bodyguard?” Luke asks, not showing any irritation. Instead, he sighs and lean back on his chair, slurping his coffee.

Our table went silent, both Olivia and Ivy staring between me and John.

“I’m sorry, I really didn’t expect this interruption.” There’s so much guilt in my voice as I apologize.

The disappointment must have been evident on my face, as Olivia and Ivy gave me sympathetic stare.

“I should get going, we will catch up later.” I gave them each a brief hug before, storming out.

John immediately followed after me, his footsteps hurried. I don’t have a problem with having a bodyguard, but I have problem with it when they interfere with my life.

“Take me home.” I said rather harshly.

John and I had a good relationship, he’s one of Marco’s closest and trusted man. So I’m often left in his care, and we’ve created this friendship.

We’ve never gone silent whenever he drives me around, but today I’m giving the silent treatment. I know whose orders he’s following, and it’s definitely not Marco’s on this case.
