Chapter 4

The taxi driver was getting uncomfortable, Lili understood a bit, she'd been crying in the taxi quietly since he'd picked her up. It was weird but at the moment she couldn't bring herself to stop, all she could do was try to stop the tears from flowing in their abundance.

" I'm so sorry about this " she muttered wiping her face before staring apologetically at the taxi driver.

" That's alright," he said kindly, glancing out the window she realized they were by her house, he parked at a distance and she smiled at him gratefully, cleaning up her face she handed him the fare and got out, waving at him as he drove away, taking a deep breath she strode towards the house, her mind racing over the events of the day. When her mother had told her that her fiance was taking her on a date she'd been ecstatic, and so happy that she would experience the magic of her first date, not because she was foolish enough to think that they would fall in love but because she'd hoped that they could work on their relationship, get to know one another but it seemed that was a pipe dream.

" Oh darling you are home, " her mother called, putting on a smile, she strolled towards the living room

" Hi I'm back" she replied, trying to mask a happy face.

" Look who came to visit," she said softly, Lili glanced around and smiled when she saw Calvin seated

" When did you get here," she asked walking to him, he grinned rising from his seat

" Less than thirty minutes ago" he offered pulling her into a hug

" I heard my brother took you on a date," he said and she scoffed, glancing towards her mother to make sure she'd not heard anything in their conversation.

" Mom, I'd like to speak with Calvin, we'll go out to the garden and talk," she said softly, her mother frowned

" Are you sure, I'm going out for a bit. You can have privacy" she offered and Lily smiled

" We'll make do with the garden," pulling Calvin with her she urged

" Come on. I'm thirsty are you"

Calvin grinned and followed her, she led him to the garden and collapsed onto the hammock

" I'm wrecked" she groaned and he smiled

" That bad huh," he asked and she scoffed

" Your brother is a cruel man, or is it just to me," she asked and Calvin sighed

" Callum is complicated " she scoffed

" Isn't that the truth"

" What did he do," Calvin asked and she sighed. She didn't want to talk about this with anyone, no matter what Callum Davenport did he would still be her husband, and their marriage didn't need any rumors swirling

" He just made it clear where we stood in our relationship, he was unkind about it but I guess that's to be expected" She grinned at him

" So I'm told I'll be moving into your home," she said and he smiled

" So I've heard. I was very certain that Callum would move out as soon as you were married"

" Well it would be nice to live with you at least, you're a familiar face" she mused

" Have you told your mother?

About what exactly?

I mean Callum and his so-called quiet wedding! He clamored, trying to elate Lillian’s mood.

" No, I'll break it to her, today"

" It will be disappointing news for her but I've always wanted a quiet wedding" she shrugged leaning into the hammock.

Memories rushed to her as she remembered how her mother had always exaggerated holding a very expensive and loud wedding for her in the future.

She sighs, before turning her attention back to her newfound friend and soon-to-be brother-in-law.

" What about you? When will you get married?" she asked and he smiled, his eyes looking sad

" I wanted to, haven't found the right woman yet so–" his eyes looked wistful and that jolted her

" I hope you find her, and a love that will last a lifetime " she muttered, he grinned at her and she laughed self-consciously

" What, it's a nice thing. To love someone so much that their faults are bearable because of that"

" My parents have that sort of love. My mother loves my father and he's not an easy man to love"

" and that's what you want," he asked and she smiled

" Not really no, I want a quiet man, one that wouldn't excite me I want a quiet love " she whispered and he frowned

" And you wished me a chaotic one"

" I'm sorry, I guess I'm not sure what people want. Most people want the passion and excitement"

" I'm not most people" he whispered, leaning into her, her eyes raised to his, a soft brown that had flecks of gold in it, she swallowed nervously

" I know, I guess I was wrong" she whispered softly

She was paralyzed watching him, and when he pressed his lips against her she froze further, she felt guilty of her action and taking a slight likeness to her fiancé brother.

This was wrong she said in her mind and she took all her strength to stop the kiss from prolonging.

" Stop no" she pulled away rising from the hammock

He rose as well,

" I'm sorry, I didn't" he apologized,

" No that's fine, we're fine" she exclaimed, running her hand through her hair

" I have to go in, maybe I'll see you tomorrow," she said, he nodded watching her warily

" See you tomorrow then," she said, picking up her purse before fleeing the garden and without looking back till she entered the house.

" I'll talk later" she called out when her mother reached for her. She ran into her room and jammed the door behind her slumping against it. She had kissed her fiance's brother, groaning as she buried her face in her lap, assuring herself that it was a mistake and would not happen again.

Callum is not a nice guy and his cold demeanor makes him unapproachable. Will he react if he learns what happened between her and his brother?

Probably not, he doesn't even like me or want me to bear his children, to begin with. Lillian thought before letting out a loud sigh.

What the hell had she just done? Anonymously a shadow was lurking around and saw what transpired between the both of them.
