Chapter 4
“Do you feel better now?” Leah heard the voice of the elderly woman who had rescued her from that pack of men. "You're clean now. Your body was so covered in mud that it was hard to smell you.”
The woman left a nightgown on the bed, which Leah looked at with a frown. She was already wrapped in a shawl. What did the woman want her to do with it?
"You must wear it. You can't walk around the campground naked.”
"Why not? We're wolves. We used to walk around like this all the time."
“We’re civilized here, young lady. I understand you've lived in the woods for a long time.
"It's my home!"
"Nevertheless, you must stay here until the Alpha decides what to do with you."
Those words broke Leah's heart even more. That man didn't want her in his pack. His rejection was clear and evident. She was a savage and a half-breed—nothing like the other women in that town.
"I have to leave here."
"You'd better get some rest."
As soon as the woman left the house, Leah stood up to make her way to the door and escape this town where no one accepted her.
But as she tries to open the door, it opens, and the man she desires enters. Leah takes a couple of steps back, staring at him with wide eyes.
"Are you going somewhere?" The Alpha walks toward her, and she backs away.
"I need to leave this place."
"Are they treating you badly?" The matriarch is a kind woman. I asked her to take care of you, feed you, and wash you.”
So it was him!
"I don't belong here."
“Where do you belong, Leah?” The alpha cornered her against the wall, pressing his body close to hers and rendering her defenseless and vulnerable.
Leah looked into the man's eyes and suddenly felt her heart melt like frosting under the sun's powerful rays. Being close to him brings her such peace that she forgets her entire life in the forest.
“Where do you come from? Why do you steal from your own kind?” She doesn't answer his questions; she just looks into his eyes. "Leah," she says, throwing herself at his lips to join her mouth with the Alpha's.
She wants to unite with him, even though she doesn't know what she's doing. She needs to feel his skin against hers. She immediately appreciated his hands around her waist.
Was he responding to her?
Her heart raced. But just as quickly as he responded to the kiss, he pulled her away abruptly and looked at her with a frown.
"What are you doing?" She blinked several times when she realized the Alpha didn't like her.
Leah moved away from him, feeling her heart break again. She had to accept that he didn't want her.
"Don't you like me because I'm a hybrid? Because I'm different from everyone else?"
"What?"
