Jealousy
Crownis's POV
As I stepped into my house, I was greeted by the warm smile of Alice, who was patiently waiting for me in the sitting room. Her eyes sparkled as she hurried towards me.
"Welcome home," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. For the first time in forever, I felt a sense of belonging, like I was finally home. I couldn't help but think that I could get used to this kind of life.
"You're just in the for dinner," she added, wheeling me into the dining room. The table was filled with all my favorite dishes, each one carefully prepared and presented. Although they didn't look like the elaborate meals my chef usually prepared, the aroma was incredible.
As I gazed at the spread before me, I felt a pang of disgust. I had never eaten anything that wasn't prepared by my chef, and the thought of eating something with such poor presentation made me hesitant.
"Who prepared this?" I asked, trying to hide my initial skepticism.
Alice looked down, her face flushing with shyness.
"I wasn't sure what you liked, so I asked the maids," she explained, her voice barely above a whisper. "They said you enjoy these dishes, so I made some. Hope you don't mind."
In that moment, everything seemed to transform before my eyes. The dishes, though simple, looked more appealing than anything I had ever had. It was as if Alice's effort and kindness had infused the food with a special quality.
"I don't mind at all," I assured her, genuinely touched by her thoughtfulness. "But you didn't have to. I don't like you stressing over me."
Alice smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "It's not a problem at all. I actually enjoy cooking."
"So, what should I serve you?" she asked, with a raised brow.
"Everything," I replied, my excitement growing. As long as Alice had prepared it, I was willing to try anything.
She smiled and began serving me, her hands moving with a quiet confidence. As I took my first bite, I was struck by the explosion of flavors on my palate. It wasn't until the second bite that I fully appreciated the taste of the food.
The dishes weren't elaborate, but they tasted better than anything I had ever had at a high-end restaurant. Alice's cooking had a special quality that made every bite a delight.
"I love it," I confessed, my eyes locking onto hers. Her face lit up, her beauty radiating like the morning sun.
"Really?" she asked, her voice filled with excitement.
"It's the best meal I've ever tasted," I assured her, my praise genuine.
Alice beamed with pride, her smile illuminating the room. "In that case, I'll cook for you more often from now on."
As we continued eating, I couldn't help but steal glances at Alice. Her beauty captivated me, and I found myself drawn to her like a magnet, but it seemed like my stares only made her uncomfortable.
"I liked the changes you made to our room," I said, breaking the silence. Alice looked up, her eyes sparkling with pleasure.
"I'm glad you like it," she replied, her voice filled with satisfaction. "I wasn't sure you'd like the color theme."
"Well, I loved it," I assured her, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'll let you in on a secret: pink is actually one of my favorite colors."
Alice's eyes widened in surprise, and she let out a delighted gasp. "Really? Mine too!"
"You did amazing. so just keep up the good work" I gave her the thumbs up.
"Thank you uncle" She said and I froze.
"Uncle" she called me "Uncle". That particular word felt like a dagger to my chest.
"What did you just call me?" I doubted with a raised brow, that name irritated me to my core.
She looked up at me, as she nervous swallowed "Uncle" she replied, her voice barely above a whisper, consequently sending a shiver down my spine.
I felt a pang of irritation at the term, but I pushed it aside. "I don't like it," I confessed, my voice gentle.
She seemed genuinely shocked, “Then what should I call you?” She asked the question I had been dieing to hear.
I took in a deep breath, flashed smile and replied, “We’re already legally married. You can call me ‘darling’, may be ‘muffin’, or ‘my man’. Something like that”
She looked up at me with wide, sparkling eyes, as her face turned a deep shade of red with embarrassment. She swiftly turned away from me, attempting to hide her shyness, and remained silent. I adored seeing her blush like that - it was incredibly charming and, quite frankly, made my heart skip a beat.
Her lips were pink and looked very kissable. As I thought this, I found that my wheelchair had moved closer to her. I reached out to touch her face.
Then suddenly, Alice's phone rang on the table, and I caught a glimpse of the caller ID-it was Justin. My heart skipped a beat.
Justin has been with Alice for so many years. If he says he doesn't mind me and Alice being together, Alice is very likely to go back to Justin.
I stared intently at Alice. Alice looked at me, then looked at her phone...
