A Dangerous Compromise

Monalisa stood in front of the large bathroom mirror, staring at her reflection as if she were looking at a stranger. The girl in the mirror had flushed cheeks, swollen lips, and dark love bites scattered across her neck and collarbone like forbidden signatures. She slowly pulled down the collar of Damien’s oversized black shirt, revealing more marks on her breasts. Her thighs still ached, and between her legs she felt tender and sensitive.

She should have felt disgusted with herself.

Instead, a confusing warmth spread through her body at the memory of Damien’s hands, his mouth, his deep voice calling her “princess” while he claimed every inch of her.

“What am I doing?” she whispered to her reflection.

Last night had been intense, passionate, wrong. But the way Damien had held her afterward, gentle, almost reverent had cracked something inside her. For a few hours, she hadn’t felt broken or alone, she had felt wanted, craved.

The sound of footsteps approaching made her heart skip. She quickly adjusted the shirt to cover the marks just as Damien appeared in the doorway.

He was shirtless, wearing only dark sweatpants that hung low on his hips. His muscular torso and silver-streaked hair made him look every bit the powerful Alpha he was. His golden eyes softened the moment they landed on her.

“You’re awake,” he said, voice still rough from sleep. He stepped behind her, wrapping his strong arms around her waist and pulling her back against his chest. “I woke up and you weren’t in bed.”

Monalisa leaned into his warmth despite herself. “I needed to think.”

Damien rested his chin on top of her head, their

eyes meeting in the mirror. For a long moment, neither of them spoke. His large hands gently stroked her stomach, then moved up to cup her breasts through the shirt. He wasn’t rough this time, his touch was slow, almost worshipful.

“You’re covered in me,” he murmured, kissing the side of her neck softly. “I like seeing my marks on you.”

Monalisa shivered, she turned in his arms and looked up at him. “This is crazy, Damien. You’re my stepfather. We shouldn’t”

He silenced her with a deep, lingering kiss. Not the hungry kind from last night, but something slower, more intimate. His tongue explored her mouth gently, and Monalisa found herself kissing him back, her hands sliding up his bare chest. When they finally pulled apart, Damien rested his forehead against hers.

“I stopped being just your stepfather the moment you kissed me first,” he said quietly.

“And you know it.”

Monalisa’s heart fluttered. She buried her face in his chest, breathing in his scent. His hands continued their gentle exploration, stroking her back, her hips, her thighs, never pushing for more, just touching her like he couldn’t stop.

They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped in each other in front of the mirror. Damien occasionally kissed her hair, her temple, her shoulder. The tenderness felt almost more dangerous than the rough passion.

Eventually, they moved to the bedroom, Damien sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her onto his lap, facing him. He held her close, one hand resting on her lower back, the other gently stroking her thigh under the shirt.

“Tell me what’s on your mind, princess,” he said softly.

Monalisa hesitated, then spoke.

“I want to go back to school,” she whispered. “I haven’t been since Mom died. I feel like I’m disappearing here… just waiting for you every day. I need something normal, something that’s mine.”

Damien’s body tensed beneath her. His hand on her thigh tightened slightly, but he didn’t pull away.

“It’s not safe,” he said, voice low. “Viktor is watching us, if anyone finds out about us”

“No one will,” she interrupted gently. “I’ll be careful, please, Damien. I can’t stay locked in this mansion forever. I’ll go crazy.”

He was silent for a long time, his golden eyes searching her face. Monalisa could see the internal battle, the ruthless Alpha who wanted total control versus the man who was beginning to care for her beyond obsession.

Finally, he let out a heavy sigh.

“Fine,” he said. “You can go back to school.”

Monalisa’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really?”

“On my conditions,” he added firmly. “You will have a bodyguard, one of my most trusted wolves. He’ll stay out of sight, but he will follow you everywhere. You come straight home after classes, no staying late, no parties, no male friends getting too close. And you tell no one about us. Not even your best friend.”

Monalisa bit her lip. The conditions were heavy,

but it was better than nothing.

“Okay,” she whispered. “I accept.”

Damien pulled her closer, kissing her deeply. His hands roamed her body with restrained hunger, cupping her breasts, stroking her thighs, but never going further. The kiss grew more passionate, their bodies pressing together. Monalisa moaned softly into his mouth, feeling desired and protected at the same time.

When they finally broke apart, Damien rested his forehead against hers again.

“You’re mine, Monalisa,” he said, voice dark with possession. “Even when you’re out there in the world. Don’t forget that.”

“I won’t,” she whispered.

Later that afternoon, while Damien was in his study, Monalisa sat in the garden trying to process everything. She felt excited about returning to school, but also anxious. Her phone buzzed, another message from Sophie.

Sophie: Please tell me you’re alive, I’m coming over tomorrow if you don’t reply. Monalisa smiled faintly and replied that she would see her soon.

As she put her phone down, she noticed Damien watching her from the second-floor window of his study, his expression dark and unreadable.

That night, as they lay in bed together, Damien held her close, his hand resting protectively on her stomach.

“Tomorrow is your first day back,” he said quietly. “Be careful, princess. The world outside isn’t kind to what belongs to me.”

Monalisa nodded, but deep down she felt a growing unease.

The next morning, as she prepared to leave for campus with her assigned bodyguard discreetly following, her phone buzzed with an unknown number.

The message made her blood run cold:

Unknown: Be careful who you trust. Your stepfather has been lying to you from the beginning. Ask him about your mother’s real death.

Monalisa stared at the screen, heart pounding.

Damien had just kissed her goodbye at the door, telling her to come straight home.

Now, as she stepped into the car, she wondered if returning to school was the biggest mistake she could make.
