You Fucking Lied To Me

CHAPTER 5

ETHAN’S POV

YOU FUCKING LIED TO ME

I woke up feeling better than last night, and I had a shower as I didn't sleep in the bedroom that I shared with Abigail. I brewed my coffee and the smell filled up the kitchen. We don't have household staff as Abigail, doesn't want outsiders to invade our personal space. But we do have occasional cleaning companies come clean the place up, as Abigail is a modern woman who can't be caught doing house chores. I sat down at the head of the dinning table, clutching tightly to my coffee mug as I threw my head back. I could still feel the faint throbbing of my head, last night migraine was terrible to relive it this morning.

I loved the silence as it helped me think properly, until it was quiet until it wasn't anymore and I had Abigail to thank.

“You're up early,” she said as she sat down beside me in her silk robe with her red painted nails.

I didn't respond to her as I didn't want to engage her this morning. I had a rough night.

“Ethan, didn't you hear me?” she asked me, looking directly at me. “Don't ignore babe.” she said in her cringe voice.

I took a deep breath and sighed, dropping my coffee mug with a bang on the table, “Must you ruin everything? Good morning Abigail, there I noticed you are happy now.”

She arched her perfect brows at me in surprise. “Fine, last night you couldn't save me, when your uncle was roasting my ass. Like is my fucking fault that we're childless.”

I tighten my jaws. I took a sip of my coffee trying to delay my reply to her.

“We've tested ourselves at the clinic. Let's just go see the results. And so your uncle will not blame me, I wasn't ready before for kids. But I'm ready now, I. mean since you want it so bad.” she said, putting her hair out of her way.

“Are you done?” I asked her while looking at her with a serious look on my face.

She looked at me like I was crazy, “Not yet I'm not done. We have to see the darn results today, and you haven't been taking me out on dates and it's not nice.” she said as her phone rings, she looks at her phone and back to me with a strange emotion on her face.

“I'm done with you,” I said and dropped the mug in the sink and walked out while adjusting my pants.

I got into my car as James, shut the door and climbed into the other side. The driver drove while giving me occasional glances from the rear mirror. The city blurred as the car moved. I leaned back, into the plush leather seats. As the car moved my heartbeat imitated the sound of it, the memories of the day I got married to Abigail, creeping in like a haunting nightmare for me.

It had been a grand and luxurious affair, as everything was done according to the demands of Abigail. Money wasn't a problem but she went too far with everything. Everything was done to perfection, the cathedral high ceiling, golden glittering chandelier and the array of sweet smelling flowers. The rows of seats were occupied by well dressed guests, some people that I don't know and won't invite to my wedding.

I remembered standing for a long time, like a fucking idiot waiting for Abigail to walk down the aisle. She arrived at her own time saying it was fashionably late, she walked in with her glittering gown and floor sweeping veil. She was beautiful and every inch a picture perfect bride of a billionaire, she was worth the wait I thought back then.

I knew it wasn't love that brought us together, it was the way she fits into my world, and the little business help that her father offers to me.

I clenched my teeth as I remembered all these, I wanted this to happen and I wasn't blaming anyone as I was seeing the reaction of my action. The little help from her father did help my company. Not in the way I've helped grow my company since I took over. I really was evaluating my choices now, I was really living in regrets now.

When Abigail walked close enough to me, her gaze on me was that of success at last. Her smile was that of victory, and that was when I was rethinking my choices.

The ceremony started immediately, and I was out of it. I nudged Abigail to listen to the priest. My vows were taken and we wore our bands making it official. I smiled like I practiced earlier to make it more believable.

The reception was fabulous though it ended in a blur for me, I saw Abigail take care of the guests, playing the good hostess of the evening. And the guest toasting to our union. Our first dance was weird as Abigail, held unto me too tight as of gee life depended on it.

The car stopping abruptly, brought me back to reality. I sighed running my hand through my hair. The memory was there and it lingered not leaving me. Abigail was not a good fit to me.

As I walked to my office as my bodyguards walked with me I was recounting and thinking how my life would've turned out if I had done things differently. If I had accepted her and not married Abigail, would my life be better than it is now? That's a question that I'll never know the answer to.

When I got to the office I was thinking about a lot of things and I needed to be sure of these new feelings that I'm having now. I sat on my plush leather chair, I took out my phone and I dialed Liam’s phone number.

“I thought you'd never call,” he answered immediately as he picked up the phone.

Liam was my high school mate who became close to me, he was a whiz kid particularly good with computers and finding out stuff about people.

“Promises are meant to be broken dude,” I replied to him casually.

He was one of those people that get, to see the normal side of me.

“What do you want now?” he asked me finally.

“You're hurting my feelings,” I said, holding my chest. “I just need to look into Abigail, more closely, especially her relations with other men.” I told him in a serious tone.

“Will do that mate,” he said in his British accent. “We should have a drink one time,” he added.

“Yeah why not,” I said nodding in approval to what he said.

My assistant sent my schedule to me, and I got into work mode immediately. It was midday. I was standing by my window, with my sleeves rolled and my phone rang. It was Abigail.

“Babe, I don't wanna fight. Look, we need to go see the results today at the doctor's.” Abigail said in a calm voice.

“I'll see what I can do,” I replied to her in a business manner.

“Doesn't work for me, can you just do this please.” she pleaded with me.

“I'll see you,” I said with my hand in my pocket.

I hate hospitals because it reminded me, the day I had to visit and see my parent's bodies after they died in an accident. The sterile air and air were suffocating me. The smell of disinfectant was disgusting to my nostrils, so my bodyguards walked with me into the fertility clinic.

I sat down with Abigail, sitting beside me and there was tension in the room. Dr Barrett was holding our test results. He was the fertility specialist and he came highly recommended. My eyes fell upon Abigail who was shaken and fidgety in her seat. It was so unlike her to be fazed by something like this.

“Welcome, Mr Hillside,” Dr Barrett began acknowledging me before he began to talk about our results. “I have the results here, Mr Hillside your results came back normal, clean bill of health. You're really in a good place with your health, your fertility levels are very high.” he said, looking at me.

He glanced at Abigail, who was doing everything to seem composed. “Mrs Hillside, your results were really concerning. it shows severe complications, your ability to get pregnant is low. Your hormones are imbalanced, and your uterus lining is weak. Due to severe usage of contraceptives.”

My eyes darkened as I looked at Abigail, my voice was cold. “Contraceptives? really Abigail. You told me you stopped taking them.” I thundered at her.

Abigail looked at the doctor, and back to me. “I…. I did stop babe,” she stammered while looking at me. “I wasn't using it when we were trying.”

“What the fuck! are you going on about,” I interrupted her, my tone was sharp devoid of any emotions. “You fucking lied to me, Abigail.”

Abigail was physically shaken, her hands were shaking her in a whisper, “Sorry I lied to you. I didn't think it'd cause any damage.”

I pushed my chair back in anger, and it made a loud scraping sound. “You didn't think it'll cause any damage, are fucking kidding me. You knew what I wanted from the start. I told you what I wanted, and you made me believe that we were on the same page. And now I get to hear that you were fooling and stringing me along all this while.”

“I didn't fool you babe,” Abigail said in a pleading voice. “I didn't mean for it to happen, believe me. I wasn't ready and I didn't know how to tell you since you were so giddy about kids. I just wasn't ready to have kids.” she said in a pleading tone.

“Ready?” I said in a low voice. “You're not ready, why did you get married? You deceived me and you lied to me.” I said and stepped closer to her.

“Mr Hillside, I suggest you bring your voice down.” Dr Barrett said to me, and I gave him a piss off look.

“Were you cheating on me, Abigail?” I finally asked her. “Is that why you were never ready to have kids?” I asked her.

Abigail looked at me in shock, “Baby why will you think that? Cheating? I wouldn't do that to you.”

“I don't believe you, Abigail.” I replied to her with conviction. “If you can lie about all this, why will I believe a word coming out of your mouth?” I retorted back to her.

Dr Barrett cleared his throat, to get my attention and shifted uncomfortably in his chair. “With drugs her condition can be treated. You both need privacy to talk about all this.” he advised.

I ignored his words, my eyes still fixed on Abigail, “You deal with all this yourself. I'm fucking done. I hope you're not hiding or lying about other stuff from me.” I said and walked out of the doctor's office.

I felt betrayed as I walked out of the hospital, with my bodyguards walking behind me. I thought I made the right choice, but I think I made a huge mistake by choosing my status over respect.

The drive to the company was filled with thoughts about her deceit to me. If she could lie about this to me, she is cheating on me and she's so brazen about it. I got out of the car, as James closed the door after me. I wore my glasses cause I don't want any unwanted attention to me.

I lay back in my private executive elevator, I closed my eyes as I got up to my office. I walked out and I saw my secretary with her baby girl. Who ran towards me with a toothy smile.

Her mother rushed towards her, with a scared expression on her face. “I'm so sorry about her sir.” but the child still touched me with a smile on her face.

“I'm okay, Gina.” I said and looked at her angelic face. That's when it dawned on me. “How old is she?” I asked the mother.

“She's just three years old, sir,” Gina responded to me.

Gina was pregnant at the same time, Mira said she was pregnant for me. Judging from her character I'm sure she wasn't lying about it. I have a child out there and I'm going to get it.

As I walked to my office after the encounter with Gina's kid I. knew what I was going to do now. I took out my phone and I saw missed calls from Abigail.
