Chapter 6: Another marriage proposal

Sophia’s Pov

“W-what is this, what are you both doing here?” My brows furrowed as I glanced between the lady and Quinn, who relaxed in his seat without a care in the world. He was the only person sitting in the First Class area, which said a lot. Just how rich is this man?

“I never imagined we’d meet this way, Sophia.” His lips curved into a thin smile as he leaned forward to pick up a glass of wine, slowly tilting it into his mouth.

I watched on in discomfort, fiddling with the edge of my clothes as I gulped harshly. This is definitely not how I planned for the flight to go. I didn’t expect to meet my ex-husband’s lifelong enemy here, yet here I am, standing in the midst of chaos.

Hailey finally spoke up, “I saw her trying to flush her baby out. I intervened as soon as possible.”

“Oh?  Did something go wrong between you and Leo?” He asked, a smug smirk tugging at his lips. My eyes stung with tears and my throat felt tight all of a sudden, as I gripped the edge of a seat, trying to steady myself.

At first, I thought of lying, but what was the point? Hailey already knew and although I felt stupid already, so I decided to tell Quinn. Contrary to my main opinion, he listened to my story patiently to the end.

“So, Leo and his crazy fiancee tried to kill you? Typical behavior.” He snorted, crossing his legs. The plane rumbled lowly, experiencing some turbulence as I stood, trying to maintain my balance. At this point, I didn’t know if it was the pregnancy or the plane that made me nauseous.

“One thing I know is, you can run but you can’t hide. As soon as they find out that you’re still alive, they’ll have no choice but to finish what they started.” He said casually as if this was an everyday occurrence.

Of course it is, he is part of the mafia of course. One of the most powerful. He and Leo had been rivaling for ages, until all of a sudden—Radio Silence. I hadn’t heard much, but all I knew was that they were pretty good friend before the split.

“I really wanted to end it all, but when I was put in that car, I had no choice but to run. I didn’t even know I was pregnant.” I rubbed my hand over my stomach, in an attempt to soothe myself.

“So, you couldn’t kill yourself, that’s why you made a stupid decision to kill the innocent baby in you?” Hailey snapped, her tone holding a hint of anger.

“Well, you said you could help me…That’s why I’m here. I need to know what to do next. I-I’m just so lost right now…” I sniffled wiping my wet face with the back of my hands.

If anything good could come out of this situation, I’d probably be the luckiest woman alive.

“I have a proposal to make.” Quinn finally spoke up, turning to look at me and for the first time, I took in his facial features. His chiseled jaw, his perfectly defined eyebrows, his full lips, and his blue eyes, all contrasted against his tanned skin.

“W-what is it?” My eyes widened and I leaned forward, anticipating an answer immediately.

I could still see Leo in him, and when I realized that I was going in too deep with my thoughts again, I shook my head, urging me back to reality.

“Sit down.” He commanded sternly, narrowing his eyes. “Does Leo…know about the baby?”

“No…he doesn’t. Even I just found out today.” I shook my head, biting my bottom lip. Leo smacked his lips tastefully, absorbing the fresh information. I took a seat in the seat right across from him.

“Well, good. Then, this won’t hinder us from any future plans.” He set his glass down, folding his hands in his lap.

“W-What plans? I don’t understand what you mean.” I raised a brow, my knee shaking violently, as my eyes darted from Hailey back to Quinn again. He maintained his composure, seemingly withholding the information, which made me more anxious than ever.

Hailey and Quinn exchanged knowing glances before looking back at me. Something was wrong, I could feel it. I abruptly stood up, my fists trembling by my side, “Look, I think…Maybe this was all just a mistake.”

“No, what are you doing? Sit back down! You don’t leave Leo’s presence until he dismisses you,” She hissed, but I couldn’t care less. I was playing a risky ball game. It was better for me to figure things out on my own than to put myself in stupid situations again.

I moved away from where I sat turning to face them both, “I-I’m sorry, thank you for your help, Hailey. But, I think I’m better off doing this on my own.”

She lurched forward to grip my hand, “No. Stay Sophia! What the hell is wrong with you?” She screamed, tugging me back. I twisted my arm in her grip, trying to break free, but she was too strong.

“You’ll be dead in no time, Sophia and when I see your dead body in that coffin, I’ll spit on your gave,” He said, his voice dropping low and dangerous. With a swift motion of his fingers, Hailey finally let go and pushed me forward, sending me stumbling. I scoffed, unsure of what to do now.

My blood froze. I most certainly didn’t want to die. What were the odds that I’d ever live a normal life again even if I ran as far as I could? At this point, it was now or never. But if I succumbed to this decision, would I regret it?

I finally mustered up my courage and spun around, moving forward to face him, “What’s the catch, Quinn?”

“I knew you’d come back.” He chuckled, looking up at me.

“Marry me, Sophia. Then, you’ll be safe with me.”
