Chapter 7

Chapter 7

ALPHA RYAN'S POV

I stepped out of my car and started making my way to the council Chief house, with my guards walking behind me. He had requested to see me for a while now, so I just had to come over today.

Just then, a little boy stopped in front of me, hiding in my clothes, his big, fearful eyes searching for refuge. "Help me, sir, please. These kids are trying to bully me," he said with his tiny voice.

My protective instincts kicked in, and I quickly turned towards the direction he was pointing, my gaze narrowing, as I stared at the kids.

"You all should get away from here right now," I barked, my deep voice commanding authority.

The kids frightened didn't think twice before running away, leaving me with the little boy, whose small hand was still wrapped around me, holding tight, who still looks scared.

"They're gone now, you can let go now," I told him gently, trying to reassure him, but he clung tighter, his eyes welling up with tears.

"Thank you so much, sir," he mouthed, his tiny voice cracking. "I wished I had a daddy like you who would always be there to protect me and my siblings."

My chest tightened, hearing him say that.

I bent to his height, about to speak, but stopped when I noticed the striking resemblance between us.

My mouth fell open, stunned.

Who is this child?

"Who are you?" I inquired, my glance still glued to his face, searching for answers.

"Alpha, aren't you going to the council Chief anymore? I bet he must be waiting," one of my guards asked, but I ignored him, transfixed by the mini-me in front of me.

I couldn't process how this little boy could look so much like me.

"I'm Adrian," he introduced himself, his voice barely above a whisper.

I carried him into my arms, staring at his face again, mesmerized.

"Alpha, the kid looks so much like you," one of my guards stated, his words echoing my thoughts.

I raised my brows, eyes still fixed on Adrian, my mind racing.

Could he be...?

The possibility sent a shiver down my spine.

I felt an inexplicable connection to this child, and all I wanted right now was to get answers to the questions in my head.

Who is his mother?

And why does he look so much like me?

"Alpha, if you haven't been searching for your mate for so long, I would have concluded, that he was your son," I heard my guard say, his words striking a chord.

My heart skipped a beat, and I swallowed hard. But I ignored him, focusing on the little boy.

"I have never seen you around here before, are you new here?" I managed to ask him, curiosity getting the better of me.

Adrian nodded his head, his big brown eyes sparkling.

"When did you come here? And who brought you here, your mother or father?" I asked, my voice gentle.

Adrian took a deep breath, as he started from me to my guard, before speaking.

"I came with my mummy and siblings to see my grandparents who are sick, and I was out with my mummy to get medication for my grandpa when those bullies started to bully me, making me run away from the doctor's house," he explained.

I took a deep breath, trying to process.

"Where is your mother?" I blurted out, unable to tear my gaze from Adrian's face.

"I think she is with the Pack doctor because she was trying to take some medicine from him when they started bullying me," Adrian spoke, his tiny voice trembling.

"Okay, get into the car, I will take you to your mother," I told him, opening the door.

As Adrian settled into the car, I followed, shutting the door behind us. I really wanted to see his mother, and know who she was.

"You said your mother is with the Pack doctor, right?" I inquired.

Adrian nodded.

"Okay, Greg, take me to the Pack doctor right away," I instructed.

Greg hesitated.

"Okay, Alpha, but don't you think the council Chief would be waiting for you?"

I sighed softly, realizing he was right, but my curiosity to meet the boys mother, wouldn't make me think about going to the council Chief house.

"I know that, but he can wait. I need to do this first," I replied.

He opened his mouth to speak, but I was quick to stop him. “don't say anything else, just drive,” I told him.

As the car moved, anticipation built within me, and I just couldn't help it. More thoughts flooded my mind, as the car drove on.

"But you promised him you were coming today," Greg added, his reminder made me frustrated, but I wasn't going to let that make me change my mind.

I could always see the pack Chief anytime, but as for Adrian's mother, I really can't say the same about her.

"I don't want to hear another word from you, just do what I instructed," I barked rudely, my tone sharp.

Greg's eyes widened, as he quickly muttered, "Sorry, Alpha."

He continues driving, his hands shaking slightly.

We arrived at the Pack doctor's house, and I just scanned the around for the boy’s mother even though I don't know her.

"We're here now," Greg announced, his voice subdued.

Adrian rushed into the Pack doctor's house, as I followed behind him.

"Sir, where is my mummy?" he asked, his tiny voice trembling.

But the Pack doctor ignored Adrian, focusing on me instead, a smile plastered on his face.

"Alpha, what brought you to my house today?" he asked.

My anger flared, I couldn't believe he could totally ignore a little child in need all because of me.

"Why did you ignore the little boy who asked you a question and started talking to me instead?" I demanded.

My face reddened with rage, the Pack doctor's smile faltered.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to answer you first since you're a busy person," he apologized.

I frowned his explanation seems lame to me.

"What if the child was in danger, and your response to him would save his life? Then you would have just left the child because you feel I'm a busy person, right?" I asked.

The Pack doctor shook his head, bowing it in shame.

He couldn't meet my gaze, anymore, I guess he was feeling regretful for his actions.

"Anyway, the kid is with me. Just answer his questions, so we can leave here," I instructed.

The Pack doctor turned to Adrian, his expression contrite.

"Were you, the little boy with that young lady who came for medication for her parents?" he asked.

Adrian nodded.

"Okay, your mummy is gone, and I guess she went looking for you," the Pack doctor told Adrian.

Adrian's face fell, fear creeping into his eyes. Seeing him in that position, my heart went out to him,

I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

“We'll find your mother,” I assured him, while he looks up at me.

"Sir, do you know the direction she took?" Adrian inquired of the Pack doctor, his small voice laced with worry.

The Pack doctor shook his head negatively.

"But you can ask those people outside, they would know something," he advised.

Adrian thanked him and started making his way out of the house.I followed closely behind.

As we approached the crowd outside, Adrian was about to ask for help, but I swiftly intervened.

I scooped him up into my arms, my hands cradling him securely.

The crowd parted, their eyes cast downward, intimidated by my presence.

"Have any of you seen this little boy's mother?" I inquired.

My deep voice commanded attention.

"Yes, she left looking so worried," one of them responded.

I couldn't help but feel the worries that would be in her mind now.

"Do you know the direction she took?" I asked.

The woman pointed, her hand trembling slightly.

I thanked her and proceeded towards the direction, Adrian still in my arms.

As we walked, Adrian's mood lit up.

He squirmed out of my grasp and took off running.

"Mummy!" I heard Adrian scream.

My eyes followed his gaze. A woman in her twenty stopped and slowly turned. Our eyes met.

My mouth fell open. The woman's face was etched in my memory. A face I thought I'd never see again. The same face I have been longing to see for so long now.

My heart skipped a beat. Time stood still. The world around me melted away. Leaving only her.

And the undeniable truth was still so hard to believe.

This was Adrian's mother. And my mate I have been searching for, all this while.
