A proposal

KURT’s POV

I walked to my office, where the different smell was coming from. It was feminine, no doubt about it. And that was the scent of a high ranking female.

At the office door, a tall blonde woman had her back to me. She noticed my presence, of course, and then turned around. Her eyes were gray.

"Alpha Kurt, I assume?" She asked. The way she looked at me and spoke indicated that she was a practical and proud woman.

“Yes. Who are you? It wouldn't do any good for me to say it wasn't me, would it?" In addition to Alpha's aura and scent, the scar had become a trademark of mine. Unfortunately.

She bowed her head politely and respectfully.

“Giselle Starling, daughter of Gregory Starling. I am the Alpha heiress of the Yellow Stone Pack.”

Ah, the last candidate on the list given by the Council. Curious, because the females, daughters of Alphas, don't go wandering around at will

"And to what do I owe the honor, Miss Starling?"

She looked at me resolutely, her chin slightly lifted, not out of disrespect, but of pride.

“I know that my father intends to receive you to talk about marriage. I don't like this union, however, I believe we can make a deal.”

I raised an eyebrow. A deal? Did Alpha Gregory's daughter come to me personally to plead for agreement? This was new…

"Talk," I said and pointed to the office. Deals shouldn't be handled in hallways where anyone could walk by and overhear.

She nodded and walked through the door I opened. As soon as she sat down, I closed the door and sat down behind the desk. Of course, I sent word to the others that they could start eating without me, as I had something to do. It wouldn't be fair to leave them hungry.

“Well, as I said, there is an interest in uniting our packs. You need a wife and an heir. I… I'm going to have to marry someone….”

"Sorry to interrupt, but… how old are you?"

"Twenty years," she replied dryly.

"You're young… shouldn't you be waiting for your fated mate to show up?"

“No, because that won't make any difference.” She said and I could see that she looked uncomfortable. “If he is not an Alpha, my father will not allow the union. So if I'm going to marry someone, I intend to marry someone I can get along with.”

"And you believe that you and I can have that?" She didn't even know me! Also, everyone said around, I know it very well, that I'm a cruel, bloodthirsty Alpha. I've even heard that I kill females and drink their blood…

“That's why I came here. So we could talk.”

“I understand. And what would you propose, then?”

‘You ask to woo me, so we buy time. You don't get married right away, and neither do I. We'll get to know each other and, if it's good for both of us, we'll get married.” She moved closer to the edge of her chair, in order to lean forward. “I don't have romantic hopes, sir. I just don't want a bad marriage. I know your doctor is a human and that humans do artificial insemination. We could use that. You have your heir and the two of us will live in peace. We don't need to be lovers.”

I wanted to laugh. Yeah, I didn't want a wife, but if I got one, I wanted one I could relieve myself with. That would work for both parties. Females also have needs.

"What if I don't agree?" I asked. "I enjoy physical relationships, Miss Starling."

“That wouldn't be impossible. But if I am of no use to you on that point, I don't mind you relieving yourself somewhere else. Discreetly, please.”

“What about you?”

‘What do you mean?”

I leaned forward, looking into her gray eyes.

"Are you going to hang out with other males? I do not want it.”

"If I want something, I'll talk to you."

I nodded.

“I will think about it. I must visit your pack next week.”

“Right. Thank you for having me.”

She stood up and held out her hand for me to shake. I did and noticed she had a strong grip. She was, indeed, a woman of substance. Compared to the other females on the list, this one had the best personality by far. At least, that's how it seemed to me at the time.

She walked away. I still stayed in the office for a few more minutes, thinking. Thorin remained silent, which was unusual. He loved to give his opinion.

Finally I got up and went to the kitchen. Lunch was surely over and I wouldn't be a bastard having them serve me there in the dining room.

After eating, I went to my room, took a shower and relaxed. Tomorrow I would go back to my training.

The night was filled with dreams of a certain female with auburn hair. And with her, the damned one who destroyed my heart. I woke up in a bad mood.

“Dr. Hanna wants to talk to you,” Finn said when we were at the gym.

“About what?” It could only be about one person and Finn thought the same, giving me a mocking look. “I'll talk to her after training.”

“Right. But please, make sure you don't starve us again!”

“You've been very bold, Beta.”

He shrugged. Saucy! But that's ok, I took it out during training. He left there finished.

After showering, I went to the hospital and Thorin showed up.

‘She is so beautiful!’ He said, and I could feel him wagging his tail happily.

‘Don't even think about it, Thorin. I will not touch that omega”’.

‘If you say so…’ He spoke and disappeared again. Seriously, I don't know what was going on with that wolf.

Rosamund seemed like a nice girl and I wasn't going to take advantage of her. Yes, take advantage of her, because I slept with females, but my heart was completely closed. For someone who suffered like she did, it was enough to look at the poor creature, it was unfair that I only used her body.

Dr. Hanna just wanted to show me how Rosamund recovered beautifully in 24 hours. I thanked her and as I walked down the hall, I saw her outside, sitting on the bench, surrounded by flowers.

‘You should talk to her, you rude!’

I took Thorin's advice and went to see Rosamund. I barely got close and I could already feel the difference in the air. She was undeniably a stress reliever for me.

"Rosamund!"

She turned to me and smiled. Her face was less bruised. That made me happy.

"Alpha Kurt!"

"I hear you're doing much better. I'm glad.” Thorin told me to ask if she would join us. I denied it, he continued and I could see he was making a fool of himself, standing there, not saying anything to Rosamund, while debating whether or not to do as Thorin asked. “Ah… you will soon be able to participate in our activities.”

“Activities?” she asked, confused.

“Yes. As a member of the pack.”

I saw her face fall and she looked away. That was a bad sign.

“About that…” She said and put her hand to her arm, shy. “I… I won't stay.”
