Chapter 25 Martina's Misfortune
Hannah walked towards the two wrestling women. Luckily, Manuel chose to stay on the sidelines this time. After all, back in their school days, Martina's relentless pursuit had caused Manuel a lot of trouble. Now, he probably didn't want to get involved in any more trouble. Hannah looked at the two women now lying on the ground, and suddenly, she delivered a fierce kick.
"Ah!" Martina let out a shriek.
Hannah also yelled, "Did I kick the wrong person?"
"Quick, pull this crazy woman away." Martina ordered.
"Alright," Hannah crouched down and then she started pushing Susan. As she pushed Susan forcefully, she also seemed to be pushing Martina, as if trying to separate the two.
In reality...
"Ah... You're pinching me!" Martina screamed.
"Hannah, you grabbed my hair."
"Hannah! You stepped on my leg!"
"You bumped into my nose..."
Initially, Susan thought Hannah was actually helping Martina, and she was a bit angry. But now, she couldn't help but feel that Hannah was more actively involved in the fight than she was. Martina seemed to sense something was off too. She desperately tried to push Susan and Hannah away. Her face was swollen and bloodied, a sight that she had probably never felt so humiliated before in her life.
She angrily shouted at Hannah, "You attacked me, Hannah!"
"I didn't," Hannah replied innocently.
"Don't lie to me! You're just helping this wicked woman in attacking me! Let me tell you, I’ll tell my brother about this! You'll have to answer to him then!" Martina arrogantly declared. She assumed that Hannah would fear her brother. However, Hannah remained unmoved. She showed no reaction to Martina's threats.
"Hannah! Do you know what I'm saying? Believe me, I'll make my brother dump you! You'll be dreaming if you think you can marry my brother after a month!” Martina viciously said.
"Well, you better go and talk to your brother about it."
"You...!" Martina couldn't intimidate Hannah and was trembling with anger. Now realizing she couldn't defeat them alone, she gritted her teeth and said, "Hannah, I will make you regret this!"
With overwhelming anger, she stormed off. Before leaving, she glanced at Manuel. From start to finish, Manuel didn't say a word to support her. He simply watched as she got beaten up by Susan and Hannah. She stomped her foot and said, "Manuel, Susan doesn't like you. She's getting married to Henry. Do you think you, as a backup for all these years, can just wait for her? Wasn't you being deceived by her enough back then?"
"Martina, who deceived whom! I never liked Manuel back then. It was all his delusion! Do you think everyone is like you, playing with men's feelings?!" Susan retorted.
"Shut up!" Martina snapped at Susan.
"If you don't get out of my sight, I'll beat you to death!" Susan threatened, assuming her fighting stance once again.
Martina was still frightened. She issued a stern warning, "Just wait and see what I'll do to you!"
Then, in a huff, she left.
Susan was not pleased that Martina had inexplicably interfered and ruined the atmosphere. But when she thought about how brutally Martina had been beaten, she felt satisfied. She turned to Hannah and said, "Didn't you forbid me from hitting that woman before? And now you're joining me, huh?"
Now, everyone who had ever bullied her deserved to die.
"That's enough, let's go." Hannah suggested.
The food here wasn't suitable for Manuel, and Hannah had underestimated Susan's stubbornness.
"I've only just started eating..." Susan grumbled.
"Well, you can eat by yourself. Manuel and I will leave first."
"Damn it, what's the point of eating alone? Wait for me..."
Susan grumbled as she followed them out. Actually, it was getting late, and Hannah still had to go back to prepare for tomorrow's banquet. She got into her car, having had a few drinks, with a restaurant valet driving.
"I'll head back first. Manuel, you haven't eaten anything, remember to grab a bite later. And remember to come to my place early tomorrow." Hannah said.
"Okay."
Hannah had the driver take off. After she left, Susan seemed to realize something and exclaimed, "Damn, she didn't take me with her?!"
At the same time, Manuel's car arrived with a chauffeur. Manuel hadn't even gotten into the car when he heard Susan's sarcastic voice, "You just came back, and your mom bought you a million-dollar luxury car?!"
"I bought the car myself, I did some business overseas..."
"Henry, you said you were nearby. Did you see me?!" Susan completely ignored Manuel's words as she called Henry with a phone borrowed from a waiter, a big smile on her face.
"In that case, I'll wait for you here." Susan said and hung up the phone.
Seeing Manuel by her side, she grew a bit annoyed and said, "Aren't you leaving?"
Manuel got into the car. As the car drove away, he looked back. Turning his head, he saw a black car parked by Susan's feet. Then a man wearing a black suit and glasses stepped out of the car, and the two embraced.
Manuel turned back without any emotions.
Then, his phone rang.
"Hey, Oscar?"
"You've been back for so many days, let's get together tonight." Oscar's deep voice came through.
"Not this time, just had a drink with Hannah, feeling a bit dizzy. Plus, I ate something spicy and had an allergic reaction." Manuel explained.
"With Hannah?"
"Yeah. Haven't seen her in many years, she's changed a lot and become more beautiful." Manuel said deliberately.
Oscar chuckled lightly and said, "Next time, let's make plans."
Then he hung up.
After ending the call, as he stared at the phone screen, Oscar became absent-minded. Lost in thought, his slender fingers dialed a number, then he waited patiently for the other person to answer.
Hannah looked at her phone as it rang, "Oscar?"
"Is the birthday gift for your mom satisfactory?" Oscar asked straight away.
"That is the gift you were talking about?" Hannah immediately thought of his speech earlier today.
"At least it won't let your mom down too much, I'm not that much worse than Charles either!"
"You were never worse to begin with." Hannah blurted out unintentionally.
Considering Oscar's previous bad reputation, it somewhat affected the judges' impression. Otherwise, the Outstanding Youth award wouldn't have had anything to do with Charles this time, let alone the rare occurrence of two talents appearing simultaneously.
"Thanks for my wife's affirmation. As you husband, I will continue to strive for the better." Oscar's voice was filled with ambiguity.
"..." When did they get married?
How could he say it so naturally?
