The next day, Richard took me to buy a new phone.

I thought any phone would do, but he insisted on buying the latest model for me.

However, I knew I wouldn't need it for long, as all these devices would be obsolete once I returned to the future world.

While I was waiting for the new phone, Richard stepped out for a while.

When he came back, I saw him carrying a bag from a luxury jewelry brand, which was quite expensive.

Richard explained to me, "It's for a friend. He asked me to buy it for his girlfriend."

I already knew the truth, but I didn't expose him.

Richard gave me a bouquet of red roses, symbolizing our love.

Now, looking at them made me feel incredibly ironic.

He also brought me a beautiful dress.

"Jessie, this light blue dress suits you well. It surely makes you more gentle and ladylike," Richard said with a smile.

Did he think I was easy to manipulate?

Was that why he had been deceiving me all this time?

When we were dining at the restaurant, Richard's phone rang.

I glanced at it. It was from Susan with a picture of a pregnancy test.

Susan wrote, "I'm pregnant. If you don't come to keep me company today, I'll get rid of it immediately."

Richard stared at the message, lost in thought. After a while, he looked up at me and said, "Sorry, Jessie, there’s an emergency at work. I need to go handle it."

"Go ahead. Work is more important," I replied calmly.

Richard left.

The waiter served the dishes. Richard had ordered all my favorites, but they tasted bland to me.

Just then, an unknown contact requested to add me on WhatsApp.

As soon as I accepted, the other party sent numerous photos of Richard and Susan together in very intimate poses—some in the office, some in bed, and others in the bathroom.

"Jessie, I'm carrying Richard's child. Richard loves me very much. On your wedding anniversary, he was with me. You should consider giving up this marriage and leaving him."

"You're just a free prostitute now, you know? He bought me all the necklaces I like with big diamonds. He never gave you any of those, did he?"

Susan showed off the necklace that Richard bought for her while he was out with me buying the phone this morning.

I couldn't help but laugh. Did she think this could provoke me?
