Summary

I am a mystical spirit rabbit, capable of healing a hundred wounds. The moon dew that forms on my ear tips can cure any illness. No matter how stubborn the disease, if someone takes my moon dew within thirty minutes of onset, they will recover completely. At the celebration marking 520 days since my husband’s mistress-apprentice entered his life, I received news that my mother-in-law, Evelyn Blackwood, had fallen gravely ill and was being rushed into surgery. I turned to leave, but Logan Blackwood, my husband, locked the door and blocked my way. “Who do you think you're showing attitude to on such an important occasion? If you leave, who’s going to serve drinks and fetch shoes for Jade?” he snapped. Suppressing my rising anger, I tried to explain, “Your mother is in the operating room! If I don’t go now, it’ll be too late!” Logan narrowed his eyes with a cold sneer. “That old woman? She’s nothing but a burden. If she dies, it’ll save us all the trouble.” Beside him, Jade Harlan clung to his arm, the challenge in her eyes radiating like poison. “Oh, Lily, dressed up so nicely and claiming you’re headed to a hospital? Who’d believe that? Maybe you’re sneaking off to meet some other man.” Logan mistook Evelyn's emergency for news about my own mother, Clara Hayes. His indifference stabbed at me like shards of ice. I bit my lip, releasing my grip on the door handle. “Fine. Have it your way. But don’t come crying to me later—it’ll be useless.”

Chapter 1

If I don’t go now, it’ll be too late!”

Logan narrowed his eyes with a cold sneer. “That old woman? She’s nothing but a burden. If she dies, it’ll save us all the trouble.”

Beside him, Jade Harlan clung to his arm, the challenge in her eyes radiating like poison. “Oh, Lily, dressed up so nicely and claiming you’re headed to a hospital? Who’d believe that? Maybe you’re sneaking off to meet some other man.”

Logan mistook Evelyn's emergency for news about my own mother, Clara Hayes. His indifference stabbed at me like shards of ice.

I bit my lip, releasing my grip on the door handle. “Fine. Have it your way. But don’t come crying to me later—it’ll be useless.”

...

When Jade drew the dare to kiss an unfamiliar man for thirty seconds, she immediately turned to Logan. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she leaned in.

Logan didn’t resist. Instead, he placed a hand on her waist and kissed her fully, in front of the entire room.

The crowd cheered and laughed.

The kiss lasted not thirty seconds, but a full ten minutes. Then Jade wiped the corner of her mouth with a smirk and cast a provocative glance my way.

“Master, what if your wife gets upset? After all, her mother’s still in the hospital,” she said with mocking sweetness.

Logan scoffed. “So what if she’s upset? Her mother’s just a street vendor. If she dies, it saves me the headache of dealing with her constant nagging.”

He continued, his voice dripping with disdain. “And Lily? She’s just a lapdog. If I tell her to shut up, she shuts up. Does she dare throw a tantrum with me?”

Then, as if to prove his point, Logan turned to the corner where I stood, his irritation flaring.

“Why are you sulking there like a corpse? I brought you here to help Jade, not to sit there looking like you’re at a funeral!”

“You think it’s a big deal that I didn’t let you run off to save your burden of a mother?” he added, his tone sharp.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms to keep from screaming.

“If that’s how you see my mother,” I said coldly, “then let’s divorce.”

Logan froze for a moment, stunned by my words.

“Lily Hayes, are you trying to play this game with me? Do you really think you’ll have a better life without me?”

When I didn’t respond, his tone softened slightly, as if coaxing a child.

“Alright, stop this nonsense. Today is Jade’s celebration, her special day. She’s just a young woman—imagine how embarrassing it would be for her if her mentor’s wife storms out. Can’t you act like the bigger person?”

He added dismissively, “As for your mother, I’ll go with you to see her in a few days when I’m free. It’s not that big of a deal, is it?”

Before I could reply, Jade pouted and tugged at Logan’s pinky.

“Master, didn’t you say you had a gift for me today?”

Logan chuckled and pulled a document from his pocket.

“You’ve always wanted to lead your own project, haven’t you? Here. The Silver Sage Project—our company’s most valuable initiative—is now yours to manage!”

Hearing this, I shot to my feet, the screech of my chair scraping the floor cutting through the room like a blade.

“Logan Blackwood! I worked countless sleepless nights for that project. I even memorized the personal schedules of the board members for it. How dare you—”

“How dare I?” Logan interrupted, his tone cold and dismissive, as if I were a stranger making unreasonable demands.

“Are you obsessed with work? It’s just a project. Jade’s new to the company—what’s the harm in giving her a big project to help her shine?”

The absurdity of it all left me speechless.

Evelyn had sacrificed everything for Blackwood Industries.

And now her son was casually tossing away her hard-earned achievements like toys for his mistress.

What more was there to say?

Suddenly, my phone buzzed with a message from the hospital. Evelyn’s condition had worsened. She was critical.

I didn’t have time for this madness. Grabbing my bag, I rushed toward the door. “Your mother’s condition has deteriorated. I need to go to the hospital!”

Logan, however, blocked my way in just a few strides, his arm braced against the doorframe, his icy gaze locking me in place.

“I said no,” he declared firmly.

Then, turning his back to me, he walked toward the window, his voice casual but loaded with cruelty.

“You want to go? Fine. Jump out of this third-story window. If you can still stand afterward, I’ll drive you there myself.”

“If you can’t... well, that’s too bad. Guess your mother’s out of luck.”

His words froze my blood.

I stared at his indifferent silhouette, nausea churning in my stomach.

Suddenly, the lights went out, plunging the room into darkness.

Before I could react, someone kicked me hard, sending me hurtling out the window.

The last thing I saw, as the lights flickered back on, was Logan shielding Jade in his arms, his hand covering her eyes.

His gaze met mine, filled with shock and terror.
