Chapter3(POV·Olivia)
Five years as mates—and this was the first time he had ever shoved me out of his car.
So I calmly used my phone to contact Leon and Vera, making an excuse for Lucian.
I told them he had been called away on urgent pack business, and that I couldn’t get a car for the moment.
Of course, they didn’t believe me.
They knew their son too well.
Less than ten minutes later, someone came to pick me up.
After a thorough examination by the pack doctor, my pregnancy was confirmed.
For the first time that night, genuine smiles appeared on Leon and Vera’s faces.
“Five years bonded, and finally a child,” Leon said, his voice thick with emotion.
“Olivia, Lucian has always been reckless. Don’t take it to heart,” Vera added gently.
“You’re carrying our family’s bloodline now. Once the child is born, he’ll settle down.”
Lucian would never settle down.
But I didn’t care.
I nodded obediently.
They insisted I stay at the pack house, arranging a private nutritionist for my meals and omega servants to tend to my daily needs.
As for Lucian—
My pregnancy drove Sofia into a fury.
According to the detectives, Lucian had actually abandoned pack affairs and taken her to the Northern Territories to appease her, sparing no effort to keep her happy.
In the photos, they ran beneath moonlit snow-covered mountains, chased each other across frozen lakes, laughing like lovers in a fairytale.
Even Sofia’s greedy parents showed up.
Lucian invoked pack law, severed Sofia’s registry from her original family, and used two small companies to buy out her ties to her parents.
It was straight out of an ancient wolf legend.
An Alpha clearing every obstacle for the woman he loved, defying family pressure, choosing romance over duty.
But reality was not a legend.
Money could not sever blood ties—
it only fed greater greed.
During that time, I was far from idle.
I handled the public funds Lucian had drained, while steadily climbing my way up the company council.
I made no effort to hide my ambition.
Several times, I bought out the detectives’ evidence of his affairs and quietly suppressed it.
Leon and Vera were also watching me.
They saw the same obscene images—and genuine guilt surfaced in their eyes.
“All these years, you’ve been the one covering up Lucian’s scandals,” Vera said softly. “You’ve suffered for it.”
I met her gaze, neither humble nor proud.
“Mother, this is my duty as Luna.”
She patted the seat beside her, signaling me to sit, then held my hand.
“You don’t need to handle these matters anymore. We old wolves can still move.”
“Focus on the pregnancy. Don’t go to the company for now.”
“The child’s safe arrival is what matters most.”
Leaving the company meant cutting off my access to its core information.
That was impossible.
I lowered my eyes gently.
“Mother, I know my limits. It won’t affect the baby.”
“I’m used to being busy. If I stop, I overthink.”
Vera studied me for a long moment.
Then, without a word, she transferred one billion into my account.
They had always treated me generously—money, jewels, never sparing expense.
But this was the first time they had given me such a sum.
It meant I had gambled correctly.
I smiled and thanked Vera.
After she left, I stared at the balance on my account and donated the entire billion to the pack orphanage without hesitation.
My hand rested lightly on my stomach.
What I wanted was far more than this.
I wanted the entire corporate empire
to bow at my feet.
Power—
was the most intoxicating prize of all.
