DANTE'S POV.

The events of the day were a bit too complex, even for someone like me who wasn't surprised by anything.

How could a situation just go from normal, to INSANE?!!

The irony of it all, was the fact that all these while, I had kept trying for a child and was continuously disappointed. Finally a baby had come, but through the worst means ever!

How could that Collombo woman be carrying my child??!!

Julio swerved the car so abruptly, making me sway sideways at the back seat.

"Sorry about that, Sir." He apologized.

"I am already having a bad day, Julio." I warned flatly.

Just then, a call came in and I looked at my phone to see that it was Vito.

"Vito."

"I got your message, Don. Men are in position, what's your location?"

“We’re at Ajello Mall.” I checked the tinted window, tracking the red car ahead. “Shared my location.”

"We would be with you shortly." He said.

I ended the called and took my gaze back to the red car far ahead of us, running at an annoyingly crazy speed for a woman.

It was obvious where she was headed.

The fact that her first thought was to run over to him, left a bitter taste on my tongue. I wasn't sure why.

Maybe because Alexa had been drowning away in sadness, over a lady whose loyalty was clearly with our enemy.

I knew within me that a lot of things were bound to change today, and I was more than ready to see it through.

She carried my blood now, and that made her mine.

No man, not even Russo, was going to touch what belonged to me!

Just as Vito had assured, he and the other men pulled up behind us roughly eight minutes later, driving at a steady pace behind us.

All the while, several thoughts ran through my mind.

The Collombo woman was already engaged to marry Marco Russo. I knew I would be overstepping by doing what I had in mind to do.

But then again, what did you hear about Dante Ferrari?

I was ruthless, and could also be reckless.

I guess today was the day for the latter. God damned the consequences.

Eventually, we approached the Russo tower just like I had predicted. She drove in through the iron gates, and I silently implored myself to be patient, my teeth grinding against themselves.

"Stop driving." I said to Julio, who brought the car to a stop immediately.

Half a minute later, a tap sounded against my window glass, and Julio wound down. As the glass lowered, the face of Vito came into view.

"Your orders, Don?"

"Wait for the Collombo lady to drive out. Then do the needful."

Vito gave a curt nod at my order, and went back to the rest of our men behind.

As I sat waiting in my car, my mind continued to conjure different scenarios.

She was definitely here to inform Marco of everything happening. What if that bastard maneuvered his way and spoilt my plans?

Maybe I shouldn't have let her drive in there. I should have blocked her before she made it there.

"Cazzo!" I cursed underneath my breath.

Julio quickly glanced behind, but said nothing.

Roughly ten minutes later, Vito appeared by my window again. His expression was enough to tell me something was wrong.

“Let me hear it.” I demanded.

"There was an issue with one of our shipments."

"I believe you are quite capable of handling such matters, Vito."

“I tried, boss." He released a low sigh. "It's not just any shipment, it's the Veracruz deal."

That instantly grabbed my attention.

"What the hell happened?" I asked in a clipped tone.

"The Colombians are demanding a sit-down. The shipment went south, and now they think it was us who opened fire. They’re threatening war, unless you show face.”

"Che palle!"

I let out a sharp hiss, the weight of it settling instantly. A cartel war wasn’t something I could brush off or delegate.

This was blood, business, and reputation on the line.

“Handle the girl and keep me informed of every move. I’ll deal with the Colombians myself.”

“Yes, Don.”

"Julio, we're heading to the safehouse near the docks."

"Yes sir."

He turned on the car, and just as we drove past the gates of the Russo tower, I caught sight of her red car driving out.

She was out already? So quickly?

Suspiciously quick....

Just then, Vito's call came in and I answered immediately.

"She's out too quickly. Anything fishy?"

"No. She is actually the one on the move."

"Grab her." I ordered. "And be gentle. The package is fragile."

"Understood, Don."

Almost immediately, I heard the screeching sound of cars on Vito's end of the line.

"Oh my God!!" That was her voice.

"Who the hell are yo.....?" She was cut off, and few shuffles were heard. "Let me go!!!"

With how strained her voice sounded, I could tell she was really putting up her best fight.

"Madame, please be calm." Vito demanded.

"I said let me go you basta...." Her words were cut short once more, and I heard some more shuffles. After that, punch was resonated and one of the men let out a loud groan.

"Kicking my man in his balls?" That was Vito. He sounded amused. "Now, that's not good ma'am."

Never thought her to be feisty. Interesting.

"What are you doing....?!" Her agitated voice trailed off in the background, and Vito's voice replaced hers.

"We've got the package, Don. Waiting for your instructions."

"To the Ferrari mansion." I replied. "And make sure Alexa knows nothing about this."
